the society and religious bodies have not been helpful either, but I believe this generation of women have more access to information, and things will not be "as usual" for wife beaters

Oh well. The fact that there's social media alone, has brought lots of abuse to limelight.

But some men though, heaven wonders what guts they built to ever touch their wives.

it's the society and traditions laid down by our misogynistic forefathers that gave them the guts, some cultures forbid women from returning to their fathers house after she has been given out in marriage, and then society sees a woman who leaves her husband for what so ever reason as impatient, intolerant and even a bad role model for her kids even if her leaving is to stay alive for her kids.

How do you live? How do you survive? Am always shocked when a Man says "i dont drink"! You stopped or you never started?

The fear of getting drunk and not being in control of my actions was enough to stop me from getting started

Believe all this shiit at your own risk

Just like how Tonto Dike claimed that she was abused by her husband, meanwhile she was the one beating the shiit out of her husband in Ghana

Just like how Tiwa Savage was shedding crocodile tears on TV, she's now with her husband she claimed beat her

I repeat, stop fuccking other men if you're married, it will bring a lot of problems in your marriage
Tiwa categorically stated that her husband never touched her. Although there were verbal abuses. Next time get your facts right. Cheers.

Sad we have to deal with this kind of tradition.

But then, it's becoming rampant and people are beginning to put life first before any awkward tradition. At least people of our generation.

that's why it erks me to my bones when some guys want to start comparing this generation of women to our mothers. Forgetting they were actually tamed under the guise of traditions. Anyway, like you said, this generation has learned from past generation, life first

Tiwa Savage, Toke or whatever her name is were the primary provider, No?

Gender equality isn't only about pay parity and everything isn't about money

Here is a scenario for you to ponder on, A family of 5 (husband + wife and 3 kids) where husband is the primary earner and the wife is a sit at home mum. He earns 500K a month and their childcare expense (after adjusting for the expense they would have otherwise incurred if the wife wasn't a full time mum) is roughly about 200K a month.

The net savings is the wife's contribution financially though hidden but will be laid bare during divorce proceedings

Chineke God! You will never pass Mathematics, if you go on this way! grin grin

See it here:

Let us assume both of them are working, earn equal amounts (250K each), contribute equal amount to 'expenses' and their 'expenses', including paying for childcare, is 200K.

So, each person, after deducting "expenses" (100K each), is still left with 150K each.

This means that, AT BEST, even if she does not spend a penny on herself (individual expense), the saving she can contribute (maximum) cannot be higher than what she earns, which is 150K a month.

Now, imagine when she was not working (only the man was working).....and you said the remainder of the man's salary of 300K is her contribution to the family?

Again, in coming to such "financial contribution", the court looks at the "earning power" of the other spouse (wife).
If the Husband is a CEO banker who earns 5M annually before marriage and the wife is a "School Cert" holder before marriage, the court is aware that NO Miracle will make her earn as much as the husband, if they are both working fully.

So, sharing the assets equally is just a form of injustice meted out to Men in European countries/American...... to keep them on the "leash" and make them enslaved to an abusive relationship.

And it is not surprising that when such "enslaved men" cant take it anymore, they resort to Violence.

The proper thing is to make DIVORCE (EQUITABLE DIVORCE) easy for any of the parties such that if you think you dont want your husband or wife anymore, you simply walk-away by getting a divorce.

But a situation where women see "Marriage and Divorce" as a financial ticket or Pension, causes them to make "mistakes" in choosing a marriage partner
(they all prefer the rich one even if it is obvious he has anger issues; they say 'I do' to the one they are not even in-love with, as long as he is loaded!, e.t.c) ...and this 'mistake; is further enhanced by Divorce Laws which guarantees them a large chunk, if not everything the man has worked for, including access to his children (Most women already have divorce on their mind, even before they get married to a guy since they know that they can just feign some 'violence' and all his wealth will become theirs).

In "equitable divorce", women will either chose their husbands wisely or behave properly in marriage, to make the marriage work...... because their wont be any "golden handshake" at the end of the day. We all know who benefits financially, most of the times, in a divorce.

Is "pre-marriage agreement" a panacea? Not really but it helps.

I know your partner will ensure you dont even think along that line when you are planning to marry (she would sit on your laps and say: Darling, is it that you dont trust me at all" ...... and you would say "I trust you love"! And that is you, losing your life-line when she decides she needs to change you for someone else! grin grin

Are you saying you have never heard (even lets assume you have not witnessed) where a Husband is trying to "walk-away" to go and have fresh air (to try and subside the anger!) and the woman blocks the exit, seize the door key and lock his shirt all around his throat?

What are you gonna do in such scenario, Mr. Walk-away?

If you are a man, just pray never to encounter a "cantankerous woman:, as a wife
