My elder Sis recently delivered her second child and as usual I came down to Port Harcourt to support her in hospital. I was really surprise unlike my first visit in 2014 when she had her first a lot of things has changed in those public primary health centers. The first time I came in 2014 I was truly impressed with what I saw and wished that every state would replicate the Rivers state health care model. I saw numerous health centers even in remotest of rural areas like the rout I traversed to PH_Elele, Isiokpo, Igerita, etc. the one my elder sis uses is the one around I think mile 1, Emenike. during my first visit in 2014 then the Hospital was very clean, so organized with doctors and nurses attending to patience. the very good thing about the health centers is that its services was all free of charge both for indegines and non indegenes. they even gave free medicine and provision to women who give birth there as I witnessed and they sponsored women to the state secondary health center frree of charge should they require surgery. all these I witness during my first visit in 2014 and I was like this model should be emulated by every state to relieve the suffering of people especially the poor masses.

But fast forward to 2017 I was really disappointed to the level of rot and visible deterioration that I witnessed. the health center is just a showdown of its self so dirty and very few nurses and barley a doctor was on sight. my elder sis was complaining that apart from the N15,000 she was charged and other numerous fees that she paid she's getting a per below services. she swore that this will be her last time of going their. the information I also gathered was that the lackadaisical approach of most of those health centers is currently costing lives cry

It is so bad that Nigeria leaders can not sustain good policies that will favour the poor masses but will pull all the stops to defend policies that will favour them and their cronies embarassed

That is the difference between a Govt of Rotimi Amaechi and that of Nyesom WikED
Is Amaechi vindicated now or not?
When people cut their nose to spite their face, this is what you get. Continuity of good programs matters in Govt and that has been the bane of most places governed by blacks.

I have not really thought of the political angle as am not from that state but i think every state aught to have developmental philosophy which all the succeeding government have to fellow especially if it is really a good one.

the current government have to look into this because this is one of the very few things a used to admire about the state.

Permit me to reason like a person I argued with recently on this forum; "it is Amaechi's fault, he spent billions to build those primary health centres and then abandoned them."

sorry for those of you who voted wike to perform more than ameachi, for me the only justification for voting wike was to punish ameachi for supporting buhari, fighting patience and jonathan.

Who is wike?
1. A betrayer, he betrayed senator mbta who made him a local Government chairman, he betrayed ameachi who made him a minister and chief of staff and i also know he will also betray Jonathan and his family by wanting to join APC
2, a noise maker: he keeps saying he wants to probe ameachi's tenure, but only wants to probe two years to the end of ameachi's tenure and forgetting the remaining six years because he was chief of staff and had alot of shady deals, including 14 primary school contract that was giving to him that was not built, he claims that the money found in ikoyi building belongs to rivers state government: the court have said if u have any evidence to claim the money u can come and claim the money, Wike have gone silent after much media noise.
3. Not well articulated: he was minister of state for education, when the minister of education was removed, wike was made supervising minister of education; during that period, ASUU went on strike for over six months because of poor managerial skill of wike instead of finding solution, he threatened to sack all the professors and lecturers. Even his Jesus :patience could not persuade jonathan to retain him as minister of education.
4. His an Ikwerre Governor: he likes his people above the interest of rivers state, look at his appointment to key positions and moreover all those matching ground and other levies ikwerre people where using to disturb car owners and people that bought lands that ameachi abolished is now back again.
5. His body language supports violence: most of the people in his government are ex cultist, ex militants etc
6. His body language always supports corruption: who knows the rivers state budget for 2016? even some members of his cabinet dont know the budget of the state.

The only problem i have with ameachi, is the monorail project, it was not well articulated, aside that, ameachi performed very well, he did not construct all the roads in port harcourt as many people would have wanted but the once he did where well constructed e.g stadium road, dioub, Okporo road, peter odili road etc....I also learnt, the once wike is constructing is not even well planned and structured, his just using it to settle his political friends, get media attention and the roads wont last. Ameachi touched all areas of governance like creation of job opportunities, increasing the revenue base of the state, security, scholarship, education, health etc. I ask wike what is the agricultural and educational policy of his government?

The situation in rivers state is like this; in a land of people with very good eyes but allowed a blind man to lead them because he has the resources to help them defeat der perceived enemy and they dont care if he leads them into a pit.....you guys should enjoy the rule of wike, please let him just bring peace and security back to the state.

my brother the worst of it all as I said before is the falling standard of the health centers. it is a shadow of itself just imagine in most instance there is not even a doctor in the health.
my sis just told me now that since the state government ask those health centers to start generating and managing their revenue that is when the standard started falling. she also told me that same thing applies to the public schools which were once free. she said the schools now are currently in ruin angry

even if you want to make it paid at least sustain the standard

Please stop comparing Ameachi and wike's government. Ameachi could not even pay salaries towards the end of his tenure due to dwindling state resources from about 19b monthly to about 6b and you expect wike to be able to keep up with all the payments and projects.

For those of you who ain't in the medical field and will believe this less informed info.
Free medicals in Rivers State stopped since 2014 during Amaechi's tenure due to dwindling state fund.
Before 2014 free medicals was fully active but from mid 2014 only Amaechi coartem was free for children which later got finished.
The free medical was free for both indigenes and non indigenes. Though it was more patronised by non indigenes, mostly from the SE and Akwa Ibom ie my statistics from my time in BMSH as a house officer.

As for the deterioration in facility, well what can I say?

Tonye you just fall my hand with this comment.
I guess since 2014 you haven't had any reason to visit any of the primary health centers in PH or other LGAs in Rivers State.
Free medical stopped since 2014.
I'm a medical doctor myself, so I'm in the best place to tell you about our health system in Rivers State.

u were spot on until you typed

4) Ikwerre Governor...Wike has favoured Ikwerres to the detriment of Rivers state..what a comment.

I will advise you to always be objective and endeavour to avoid the pit of tribalism. Tribalistic comment makes one look less intelligent. Wike and his kitchen cabinet, which consist of all ethnicities in Rivers, are the ones who are being treated specially, not Ikwerres. Him, PEJ, Odili are the decision makers.

Wike is a classical example of cutting your nose to spite your face. The warnings were made that the man will not bring any meaningful lifechanging, awe-inspiring development, vision and programmes to Rivers but the ultimately bigoted Riverians will not heed the word of caution.

Wike and his friends and associates being PEJ, Odili et al are notorious for backward thinking, mindless corruption, wanton violence and acute maladministration, yet Riverians preferred this to being governed by Dakuku. Let no one complain, Wike will keep on feeding Riverians pettiness till his tenure elapses. Till then, we are as good as the leaders we get.

Shut up , I reside in an "advanced country" and primary healthcare now free. Tax payers and those on welfare programmes have access to free medical checks and treatments.

I still had a checkup last week with my dentist and paid all.of 30euro for the cleanup and filling

I've had a vitrectomy done on my left eye and removal of submandibular gland both paid for by state. Those two cost me no more than 175 euro in total that was because I don't use free state medical care and I could have claimed back the 175 in tax refund

Pls stop chatting nonsense
