Everyone being fixated on only the 'mutual masturbation' part is what I actually find weird... In my opinion, sexual education as a whole for kids in JSS 1 is actually disturbing.

Exactly, sex education in my opinion is good, whether we accept it or not in the African culture and context is another thing, but regardless of the divide we cling to, the internet is their to do more harm than good to the under-aged if they are not properly taught about sex education in our schools , in that light, it is better to encourage the teaching of sex education, to know the chemistry of your body is not evil wink

it is sheer stupidity concluding that an author from a particular tribe wrote the book without knowing who did.

with thinking like this, I always wonder the kind of people we have on NL.

or is it that you too just want to comment?

This thread smells of hypocrisy. This is how parents will be shouting "not for kids! not for kids!". Before you can say jack pikin don get belly. Provide your child with the right information and let them know of the consequences of their choice. If you fail to do so, the society will help you and I bet the outcome of wrong sexual will be devastating.

Teach a child in a way he/she needs to grow...and they won't depart from it

That is the mistake we sometimes make, what those you call children know is more than what our grand fathers knew in their time, www.com has tons of articles on sex, so what are we talking about, if we dont teach them in our schools, the internet will do the teaching and the teaching might be extreme which might do more harm than good, so it is better we have sex therapist / counselors in schools to do the proper teaching wink

Every nigerian needs a crash course in critical thinking, whats wrong with it? Its sex education for crying out loud,
you teach your kids how to pray and take care of him/herself from an early age, but you feel its a taboo to tell them about their body.

You know nothing, they would find out by themselves. Tell them the consequences now.
This is an opportunity i never got, i could already comprehend sex from pry. 2. Kids know things, but they don't understand them.

Those falomo high school bastards! Should have been taught this!

The truth is, if you don't teach them; they will learn it regardless and chances are, they will learn wrongly or learn when it is too late.

So, it is better you they learn it early and learn it the right way. The debate is, what is the right time to teach them. Teaching them as early as when they are able to comprehend what is been taught is the right time.

Most kids in JSS1 are very shy, so they will not runoff and start practicing sex, because the topic was taught in class...but armed with the safe alternatives, they will be better prepared to make decision when they are faced with that predicament otherwise, they will be clueless on what to do and could make silly avoidable mistakes that will ruin their lives for the foreseeable future.
