Go to your ancestors to get acquainte with you history. Awolowo was never in allianc with the core north, it was Azikiwe who even acted as a slave to the northern oligarchy. Awo approached Zik to form alliance with him at the parliament. He even offered to support Zik to be Prime minister, even though Awo's party won more parliamentary seats than ziks. Back to the topic. I remember him in history as the greatest politician of all time in Nigeria. He is the real founding father of modern Nigeria whose achievements can still be felt by the Yoruba's for more than 4 decades.

Awo can never be forgotten even the so called Ojukwu admitted that by calling him the best president Nigeria never had. It was during his era that Nigeria as a country competes with European country, it was then that Nigeria problem was not money but how to spend money. Nope, he was being honest. I honestly don't know why some igbo peeps fail to give the guy he's dues.. he was a massive reason why Nigeria won the war(which ironically is why he is despised). I'm igbo but my dad ALWAYS gives Awo his respect because the guy was simply a visionary...way ahead of his time.
