5 South South states are in the top 11. 1. Lagos 2. Rivers 3. Ogun 4. Delta 5. Kano 6. Akwa Ibom 7. Edo 8. Oyo 9. Kwara 10. Kaduna 11. Cross River The SE is is doing terribly in IGR. Ogun state witnessed an impressive increase. Same as Kano. 11 Likes 3 Shares |

PapaBrowne: Overall IGR generated, the state with the highest percentage increase is ogun, then lagos state against the previous year though on a slight margin. Kudos also to states like Akwa Ibom and Kano who experienced tremendous growth Delta state is regressing though their performance is still encouraging. Seriously OYO state needs to be proactive. That governor is clueless. What the problem of SE is in terms of IGR, I don't know. Well expecting Anambra report sha. Good morning lalasticlala/mynd44. This thread need more views pls 4 Likes |

wristbangle: I think Akwa Ibom experienced a great leap. It was 14bn for 2015 and leaped to 23bn in 2016. For the SE, I think it has more to do with attitudinal disposition towards taxes than it has to do with economics. One thing to note though which is actually a good thing, IGR is not proportional to oil revenue or federal allocation. It's actually a function of the willingness and capacity of a state to actually generate resources for itself. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

wristbangle: Lol, abi na, na wetin oga Fayose tlk be dat. Fayose is busy blaming buhari for his state's woes whereas ogun state had an astronomical increase in IGR same year. Between i see Ogun State claiming the number two spot in no time soon, if amosun can complete the road projects scattered all over the state that will also increase IGR, then lots of FDI in Ogun state now ,that means PAYE will increase. And amosun really needs to invest more in agriculture ,most of our farm settlements are in a bad state except for the one at ikenne . 12 Likes |

wristbangle:There's a seeming lackadaisical attitude towards revenue collection drive in SE states. This mostly due to capitalistic cum republican orientation. The various govts just don't seem interested in collecting taxes and dues. Not even the transport unions,as one can see in places like Lagos. It's as if there is a permanent tax cut regime across the region. There is need for them to do better.People can and will pay,so far as there's assurance the revenue generated will be judiciously utilized. 2 Likes |

Omofunaab2: To be honest though, Ogun state is too big for him to handle due to the limited resources available to executive all the lay down projects to catch up with lagos state booming development encroaching borders of Ogun. Speaking of Agriculture, Yes he really needs to step up. Most of the agricultural settlements need urgent intervention. If not for private firms investing in the sector, it would have been poorer. I just hope he completes the road infrastructures under construction especially agbara - Ota, Akute - Alagbole, Agbado, Ogijo- sagamu, (Sagamu- Papalanto, Ibese- Ilaro in VIEW), Lafenwa- Adatan-Osiele road axis. More business influx will be experienced. Let's use the Ibeju lekki industrial zone as example, the road network encouraged investors to troop in en mass to that region. 12 Likes |

Omofunaab2: A functioning seaport boosts to a great extent economic activities cos many industries that depend on imports would stay closer to the port. People would be employed and pay taxes. Business would spring up to feed the rising population...blablabla it's basic knowledge 5 Likes 1 Share |

Fifthcolumnist: Don't even go there guy. Rivers an Oil Rich state is grossly underperforming relative to Ogun abeg, that's nothing but the truth. FG admitted owing Ogun state a Whooping N220-billion naira for fixing federal roads, out of the total N580.5-billion owed states of the federation ( https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/03/23/fg-owes-states-n580-5bn-for-roads-rehabilitation/ ). Considering its larger size, lower allocation, and population, its IGR is still grossly inadequate to meet its needs relative to Rivers. For a state with lesser resources and that serves as the gateway into the country's commercial nerve-centre from every other part of the country, give it due credit abeg. Parasites from the east. No wonder they always want to attach to SS. For those who didn't look at the figures but rushed to comment, the figures tor Rivers, Delta and Ebonyi were estimations. They ain't real figures. That for Anambra wasn't calculated at all. It's funny how most will believe the IGR for Rivers will be prambulating between 80-85bn for 5yrs in a row while other states are running high. For those who don't know Rivers is making between 9-12bn naira in IGR per month. Even the last budget passed by Wike put the IGR at 116bn. 10 Likes |

RockHard: Rivers is not underperforming. Those figures of Rivers are not real. Hope you've been following up this igr thing since 2014. If you do then you should know that the igr for Rivers is not released yearly, but the people in charge of the estimations just keep repeating similar figure year in year out. 1 Like 1 Share |
