2017 Budget: Buhari To Receive N188m As 'sitting Allowance' This Year by InolikeBuhari: 8:17am On May 20, 2017
Presidential allowances now N 188 million
Extra N5bn budgeted for the “rehabilitation” of Aso Rock
Over a billion budgeted so far for cars (2016 & 2017)

The 2017 budget is becoming by far one of the greatest masterpieces of corruption in Nigeria’s democratic era. The shit storm 1810 page document clearly shows.

There have been jamboree allowances for the President and for his Aso Rock officials without practically anybody noticing the nightmare. The N43bn budgeted for the State House (Aso Rock) in 2017 is almost double the amount that was budgeted by the last administration in 2015 (N23bn). The President is paying himself N188 million in “sitting allowances” this year.

Over a billion has been now been budgeted for car allowances since 2016 (2016 & 2017) as against N0.00 in 2015. “Electricity Charges” for the State House (Aso Rock complex) have been hiked a whopping nine times. The budget for “Sewage charges” has been increased over ten folds; residential rent has been increased by 85%; the office of the Chief Security Officer to the President now has a N133 million budget unlike no budget allocations before and an extra N5 billion has been allocated this year for the rehabilitation/repair of the Aso Rock premises as if the building has collapsed.

Calling a spade a spade, this is by far one of the greatest budgets of corruption– an acute masterpiece of evil on a people who bestowed unprecedented public trust on the government for her lovely promises of waste elimination, personnel integrity and a forthcoming anti-corruption warfare.

The government is corrupt and there is really no need rephrasing this. It’s been two years and its honeymoon is over. Here are a few details of the shit storm it presented as a budget:

State House Budget (Aso Rock)
2015: 23,465,865,117 (N23bn)
2017: 42,917,666,214 (N43bn) an extra N20bn.
President’s Sitting Allowance: N188 million

Other sitting allowances/Honorarium (Aso Rock Officials)
2015: 174,471,371
2017: 556,592,736

“Sewage Charges” (Aso Rock):
2015: 4,957,143
2017: 52,820,000

“Electricity Charges” (Aso Rock):
2015: 45,332,433
2017: 319,625,753

Rehabilitation/Repairs (State House building):
2016: 642,568,122 (N0.6bn)
2017: 5,625,725,757 (N5.6bn)

Motor Vehicles (Aso Rock):
2015: Nothing
2016: (877,015,000)
2017: 197,000,000 A cumulative N1bn by the new admin!

Cost of preparing the budget: N5.42bn

Budget of the Chief Security Officer:
1999-2015: N0.00
2016: N25 million
2017: N133 million (a 432% hike)
That’s the trend of the entire budget. The sub-budgetary figures of the EFCC, Bureau of Public Procurement, National Emergency Management Agency and many others likewise show hiked budgetary figures for the same routine expenditures they annually incur, some by as much as 300% to 400%.

The irascibility in this shit storm called a budget seems to have speared no office from top to bottom, and for many clamouring for an #OpenNass there may be just much more to the country than meets the eye. What is most worrisome is that the section in the budget under which the state of projects was earmarked (as “New” or “Ongoing”) has been removed grin, making it harder to find out if the projects proposed in a new budget have been budgeted for in the past or not. That explains the reason why the National Emergency Management Agency has requested anew for “the construction of an office building N374 million” (374,473,456), an amount for which it had already been granted in the 2016 budget and which the lawmakers may or may not have known. If the Premium times reported the 2016 Budget as a budget of corruption, this may have surpassed it by a country mile. The government seems to be taking the people for a ride because it trust them. But it is hypocritical to say the least.

Since he's hardly "sat" this year I hope he will give most of the money to Osibaba.

Sitting allowance of 188million while lying in London hospital? This country is a joke, imagine all the unnecessary hiking.

God knows i really expected a lot from buhari with all the integrity talk and his no nonsense stories, but I guess that was Tinubu selling him to us. By now they should've cut the budget of NASS, scrap out all those unnecessary yearly allowances but for whr, they keep adding to it angry undecided

What exactly is the meaning of sitting allowance sef? A are they not paid salaries. How many of us are paid and extra income different from salary just because we showed up at work?

The amount of cars that have been bought in this democracy would be enough to share to everybody in naija.

It is only in naija that brand new cars only last for a year, cars that are probably driven 3times in a week for only 10kms.

And this govt is just doubling every expenditure that we cried about in the last govt and nobody dey shout.

The jazz is strong grin angry

Meanwhile BMC goons will wake up early in the morning to book space on as many threads as possible, all for a miserable 250k while selling their future to a man collecting N188,000,000. Hope all your brains will reset soon, or at least you gain a bit of self-respect.

Most of these guys don't get a dime
They are mainly from a particular region in the south and from a specific religion
They do this out of ignorance based on what they have been told in their worship places

They are zombies who suffer from the sheep syndrome

There are actually different categories of zombies.
Category 1 - based on religion/zone etc (which I still kinda understand a bit, it's a case of their emotions having clouded their reasoning).
Category 2 - are the "I am for sale" ready to collect peanuts and book space all over the place.

Don't mind those always calling God!!! He's given us the brain to make wise and prosperous decisions but how we use it is up to us of which collectively, we are stupid most times.

Sitting allowance? Na wa oh!!! While I understand that Aso Rock needs to be maintained, isn't the money too much for a government proposing austerity, fighting corruption and promising us 'change'? Why tell the masses that change begins with them when you aren't even making a compromise?

I'm just watching to see how someone will come say "It's the NASS that added it." seeing as they are always the scapegoats of these illegalities (not like they are any better).

And where is Sarrki to comment on this? And how Nigerians are able to tolerate this is what I do not understand. It's appalling! If it were previous administration, protest and insults here and there. Our hypocrisy and double-standard is off the roof!!!!

l concur, God has given us brains to think so we can allow him to rest, look at countries like China, Hongkong, Malaysia, all the GCC countries, Western Europe, the Americas, Oceania how many of them prays daily like Nigeria, China sef doesn't believe in God but 90 percent of what we use in the whole world is directly / indirectly from a supposed godless nation, look around the churches plastic chairs, and several religious items are produced in China and yet China is not a praying country like Nigeria, a country where one single man has 5 billion, 10 billion, 15 billion, 9.8 Million Dollars and yet millions go to bed hungry daily, homeless, lying in different hospital beds without money to buy medications, injustice in the land, nepotism, ethnicity, money is glorified and worshiped regardless where the money came from, tell me , how that country can move forward, we can as well pray till the end of the world and God Almighty will be saying are these my creatures silly, dont they know l am a God of justice, mercy & fair-play, if we dont retrace our steps as a nation and begin to address issues in a holistic & pragmatic manner, do the right things, punish crime & criminality, ensure justice in the land, reward hard-work, pull down ethnicity , ensure fair -play to all, plan the country very well, engage the right professionals to run the economy, invite expats from the Asian Tigers, EU, America and from different part of the world to show us the way forward, we can as well continue to hold elections every year, it will be one step forward and 500 steps backward, nonsense.

It would have been better if you posted a copy of the exact page the entry was made. The money was listed for Honorarium and Sitting Allowance, which infers that the money was for payments for other people and not Buhari.
