When you don't know, humble yourself and go and learn about it instead of arguing like you get paid for it.
The burj Khalifa cost $1.5b (about N500b). Following your logic, Is it not just a building after all?
Now go and find out more about the 4th mainland Bridge instead of lazily waiting for people to school you about its design. You have Internet access and videos abound on YouTube.

Stop sounding like a metal gong. At what exchange rate did ambode arrive at approx 1 trillion?

What makes you think that this project should cost more than the khalifa? How did u aggregate the costs? Have you broken down the cost of the bridge? You just sit at home and reel out figures.

From what I saw, unlike no other bridge in Nigeria, I don't think it will come cheap at least not in naira given it's value.

If am not mistaken the road system will be like the Brooklyn bridge, where roads are over and beneath, the suspension of the bridge over water that will span 3km? The man power required for such, safety measures that will be put in place, testing and durability after it's done and while it's being done. I also think I saw a railway would pass through on it.

Looking at it where some of the materials to be used may be brought in, metals and steel of which I know Nigeria does not have a plant of such magnitude, I think it's a fair price.

I think what anyone should be concerned in is that the company in charge delivers a world class job like it would for a developed country.
naira value? The cement, tar, steel, granite, sand are they importing these too?that makes 80% of the bridge makeup

Does anyone realise that money has been spent already?

IMHO there never was ANY intention to deliver a bridge. The people shouting that it's overpriced are missing the point.

Ambode scored a political point by claiming that he would deliver a bridge he couldn't.

He has spent money on a MOA/MOU that has now been terminated.

IT'S A WIN WIN FOR HIM!!

If PDP knew how to appropriate funds line AC/APC, Nigeria would be in tatters with no hope for a revival.

and you ended up giving yourself away as a PDP agent. pls go to Lagos state government website and bring out where money was allocated for it in the budget last year. Advanced Engineering Consult around Town planning in Lagos did the consultancy work on that bridge and not a kobo has been paid to them since last year. stop saying what you don't know. stop exhibiting your ignorance

So you were the one that drew up Lagos State's budget ba?

Vorpal:

If you see the 3d drawing of that bridge, you will understand why it will cost so much. Plus I think it will be the longer than 3rd mainland.
Let's not forget the value of the naira in the scheme of things. That amount is roughly a little over 2billion dollars. Yet we had a case of unremitted 10 billion dollar oil money or more.

jusRadical:

You cost a project by mere visuals, it shows a deafening endermic ignorance.
Google similar project around the world and check their costs.
Let us stop defending corruption: we will NEVER progress if we continue doing so.

THERE ARE NO I REPEAT NO CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS FOR THIS BRIDGE

I hate corruption. I also hate laziness.

You've been calling this 'corruption' repeatedly but ZERO attempt to show why you think it is overpriced. Zero research, zero effort. Where is the working to show you've benchmarked this against other bridge projects worldwide?

Smh.

The contract was terminated because Ambode wants to eliminate the versted interests of all those who brought in those contractors. The next contractor will be answerable 100% of Ambodsman.

I've been wondering why the delay in the take off of d bridge but given the reasons by the govt, its a welcome development since other serious interested investors are showing up already. Meanwhile, for those saying the cost of d bridge is high, I'll advise u u read up information on the bridge and also project management and what it entails....hoping to see the bridge work starts soon

A visionary and very proactive government.

Signed May 25, 2016, terminated May 22, 2017.

Enacting timely and promptly, the termination/determination clause on delays by the concessionaire.

If more public entities can be run like real business outfits without forgetting the mandatory social services, the results will be very far reaching. Today, Dubai launched a Robot Police Service. Soon, Lagos may lead a landmark development achievement in West Africa (at the least), at this pace.

Wishing Ambode and his team greater direction in the choice of a new suitable concessionaire.

smiley
People that didn't do their due diligence well, you are here praising them. They should shine their eyes this time around or they will terminate another MOU

keep shouting corruption. 36km bridge for 844b the bridge will be over the lagoon so how do you expect it to be the same cost with a flyover that will be on land? will the pillars not be stronger? pls get out of here if you can't use your head in simple arguments. GEJ was going to construct 2nd Niger bridge of less that 2km at over 100b naira and we didn't see bigots like you crying foul. it's a 36 km bridge coming at a cost of 23b per km. olodo

Is Ambode looking at the possibility of delivering that bridge before he leaves office? If so the man wants to become a modern lagos legend. I wish him all the best.

If you watch closely, I believe better offers came in and the cash and profits involved is more than what the present local people have to offer.

All join it's a nice excuse.

another ignorant fellow. I hope you know the bridge will be over the lagoon? it's not one flyover in awka we are talking about here. if you don't have the brain power to visualise a 36km bridge over a vast body of water at a cost of 23b per km then go and play ludo

It may look inflated but the project is massive because aside road, other channels will be embedded such as rail, pedestrian, layby, etc.

Kudos to the visionary step of Ambode. I was wondering what could be delaying the construction of the project but their reason is justifiable but they shouldn't have waited up to a year before they terminate the project from the concessionaire

There is nothing like corruption in this, do you know how much it cost to construct bridges, that money is slightly above 2billion dollars which in my opinion is not too much

And moreover it's going to be on concession, so it's not like Lagos State government is coughing out all d cash
