It is safe to say many Nairalanders are more emotional than rational, proudly showing off ignorance and even insisting they are right, maybe some of you do not know the scope of work to be done and how much the almost a trillion naira is in dollars or even pounds, also considering most of the building materials would be sourced from abroad, the expats won't touch your naira and all the logistics involved....surely, a project like this would be cheaper in more developed countries but for ours...it's just gonna be higher. Sometimes i feel when i'm on nairaland, i am in the midst of kindergarten kids, what a far cry from what nairaland was in the late 2000's.. |

There isn't much money available for major government infrastructure projects (even if co-financed by private sector), particularly at the state level. Expect to see many of these projects shelved. |

Hmmm. Reading some people comment looks absurd. Do you know how much it cost to build a bridge most especially when it is a coastaline project. I think those people should redevelop themselves through reading, browsing and research or any civil engineer on this trend. |

Jaideyone:Isn't it likely though that state governments are announcing major projects that they know will never see the light of the day? This is the oldest trick in the book and PDP governors are as guilty of it as APC governors. |

dealslip:The money is coming from foreign investors NOT federal government or "oil money". So, if it is too expensive, they would not put their money in it. |

4Play:the project will see the light of the day. a 36km bridge is not something you plan and build in one year. do you know the number of houses that will be affected? people will be paid compensation. the structure has to be perfect to avoid collapse |

dealslip:But this is less than 3 Billion USD for a 36km bridge (Probably the longest in Africa). Let us compare with what is out there and see whether there is a big difference. |

realborn:As one who voted APC at the last election, I am not comfortable with the news. I dont think it was a great contract. I dont think the project coordinator needs to be an unknown firm like visible anything. But Lagos needs to stop breaking and shunting contracts. What milestones were set for the project, how many have been missed? What warnings were given? What penalties other than contract cancellation are available? Contracts have never been sacrosant in Nigeria and Lagos had an opportunity to change this. It didnt do so this time. What recourse does an aggrieved party have? The Lagos High Court? Please. In the next round of concessionary discussions, we want to see proven names with a long history of success in similar projects. Since it is a dollar denominated project we want to see international arbitration as the first line of legal protection. A lot of money has already been spent. We cant keep doing ludo " peck and go" Long live Lagos state. I am still a strong supporter of the governor and his party and every day i thank God for not allowing some charlatans speaking english to hijack the state to fund the repair of their ruined umbrella. |

DamiBukola:This is not normal road construction, this road construction is taken place on water. Aside that, it connected so many axis not just straight to island. I will advise you get the design of raod construction, peruse it and give ur final judgement |

dealslip:You think 36km bridge stretched over a wide lagoon is similar to flooring ur 1 plot compound? With dollar exchange rate at what it is? You lack sufficient argument to discredit the cost of the project... You might want to submit ur own proposal so we could ee how feasible it is. |

olujastro:A lot of people with family frustrations will just come on NL to spew trash, just a lil google search would had saved him from such embarrassment, even Almighty china spent close to $7bn on a 26km bridge and he's here masturbating over a 2 or $3bn double level 36km bridge were almost everything that will be used will be imported |

makizee:plus even some of the money will go in to compensation. About 800-4000 houses will be destroyed in the process.. This is not even government contract. Where will lagos see 1 trillion to build just a bridge? |
| Re: Ambode Cancels N844b Lagos 4th Mainland Bridge, Terminates concessionaire by Nobody: 9:32am On May 23, 2017 |
dealslip:use your head. This is not a government project. Plus compensation alone is gonna take close or more than 10% of that money. |

jusRadical:Some people will just come online and quote you without any credible proof but be referring you to google. Very lazy and cheap way of thinking. Or did you ignore the naira value I mentioned or how easy it was for 10billion dollars to walk away? Do you know how much that is in naira? Simple abc will tell you the naira is just big in numbers but no value. |

oseiwe:That guy constructed his own 3D image in his rectum. Nor be only railway, na airline. The project is not worth N1 Trillion. I can understand their reasoning though.. Nigeria is such a place where anyone can claim anything and people will believe. These guys are the same set of people that believe Davido has 30 billion in his account. I wish these guys know what it means to even own N100 million, talk more of 500 million or 1 billion. |
