Thank you sir for bringing in the 0.25 factor. I appreciate. God bless.

efuro:

wastage of ur loads are not what dey seems to be. add 0.25% factor. eg. ur 6w led bulbs are not truly 6w etc etc.

to be on a safe side I agree with what Barezzi said above

Which posts and which forums and which network and which phone and which browser?
Mr Seun. A lot still need be done to improve content creation here on Nairaland. The current setup can be very frustrating.

This is bigrovar. Barezzi my friend is making this post on my behalf because your spam bot has banned me for a post I made. It was a detailed post in respond to one of the newbie who came to this thread seeking help @nene. My post was not in violation of any NL rules neither did it contain anything irrelevant to this thread. It was very detailed and would have helped nene considerably. Unfortunately your spam bot deleted my post and banned me. It's not the first time too. Many a post I have made have been lost to the spam bot and I got a ban for my efforts. It is really really frustrating. The worse part is there is no obvious means of reporting issues of false positive or appealing a ban. No link to forum moderators or how to even reach anyone. You are not active on Twitter even the email I sent I got from my sent items when I sent similar email 2010. I never got an acknowledgement or reply. I have been in this forum since 2007. Never once violated NL rule. With over a 1000 posts many of which are educative and helping to make NL a great community. From Computer Section, Solar thread, Mobile phone, Auto, and Politics. All I and many like me ask for is a better experience at posting. Thanks.

Barezzi:

Kindly share how you achieved this bro. I'm interested.

@Barezzi
1. You need a Mate. (I have mate 2) - connect your mate to your laptop/desktop through the serial cable.
2. Take note of the COM port. e.g COM1, COM2, COM3
3. Download and Install Python version 2.7.13 on your laptop
4. Download and install emoncms using the guides here --> hxxps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS3K_FRs2xQ hxxps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZXFrh2jlzI (take note to change the hxxps to https)
5. Edit the python scripts -- attachment 1 changing the COM port, apikey, ip address and as applicable to your setup then rename the python scipts to matecom.py
6. Create a folder C:\mate and drop the script in 5 above.
7. Make a batch file of the attached - attachment 2 and drop in the C:\mate folder.
8. Double click the batch file - it will run at 20 sec intervals. (You can use a scheduler to open this going forward)
9. Login to emoncms and click the input . You should see your data.
10. Create your graphs. That's all

Use this link,
https://www.nairaland.com/fta

Use your browser to search for "mod"

Message anyone you see there,
I have also been unduly banned something too,
I do message the mod in charge of a thread and they are sure to resolve the ban in due time,

You can be banned and still be able to PM these mods

Also try oga lala and mynd44 too.

I believe they are supermods.

Cheers!

Quick question, please:

I've got some Trojan J185P-AC flooded batteries (connected to a Magnum inverter) that have been in use for a little over 2 years now and I soon might not need to use them for an extended period (a year or two, thereabout)

Is it advisable to (a) Store them till I need them again or (b) Just sell off and purchase new ones when I reconnect the inverter in the future?

If can put them in storage, what's the proper way- drain & store or fill-up & store?

Thanks for your response(s).

Done all that. Problem is Nairaland is huge and is valued multi million dollars. Hence makes millions for it's owner monthly. All this off the back of content creators like us. The least that could be done is at least upgrade the system to 2017. I am a member of many forums from xda to power forums to solar talk. nairaland is the biggest and the one with the worst user experience. It's still based on simple machine forum when it should have moved to something premium like vbulletin which is what most major forum is based on. It's like having a billion dollars contract to deploy off grid solar but you did the job with sunshine solar panels + Roy solar pwm charge controller. That's the metaphor for how NL is being managed.

I have a a keen interest in solar energy since the first day i stumbled upon this thread. Thank you all for the info on solar. I want to start using solar to power my appliances and i would be grateful for some pointers. I want start small and make add-ons as and when funds are available.
For starters i want to start with the following:
1. 5 6W bulbs (on for 12 hrs)
2. 8 6W bulbs (on for 4 hrs cumulatively)
3. 1 Led Tv 90W (on for 4hrs)
4. 2 fans (on 8hrs)
5. Charge phones
What do i need to start the solar journey.
Thank you for your time.

@georged1, thnks for all the forerunner stunts. You inspire alot. So does others in the forum. In your post u described, Your battery setup being 48v 780ah. Which you obviously paralled to get. And I know on this forum everyone screams blue blood on parallel battery setup. That series is the best. Could u give some insights on how you are overcoming or preventing parallel battery. Wahala. And you have 2 charge controller is that for a different Bank or same bank.make we tap from experienced palm wine tapper small.
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by GeorgeD1(m): 9:19am On Jun 01, 2017
samnaija,
thanks for the compliments. when it comes to battery banks setup, there are lots of advantages to be gained
by connecting your batteries in series as opposed to parallel. however, with large battery banks, you just cannot
avoid paralleling your batteries. the key challenge then becomes how to mitigate the main disadvantage of
parallel battery connections, which is that all the batteries may not receive equal amount of charging current at
the same time, leading to premature battery failure.

in my own case, i have 3 strings of 260ah batteries. Each string consists of 4 batteries connected in series. for
each of those strings, there is an equal length of positive and negative cables that connect to the inverter. so i
have a total of 6 cables (three positive, three negative). in a nutshell, the three strings act as independent
battery banks only connected to the inverter through the individual cables of equal length
. in this way,
all the batteries in a string get the same amount of charging current and they also give out equal amount of load
current to the inverter when discharging. no single battery gets cheated out. also, i do carry out regular battery
rotation (within a string) like once in a calendar year. over time, this practice has helped ensure that my
batteries remain in top shape and after almost five years, they are still performing as new.

the two charge controllers are feeding the same bank.
