SirToby:
The lingering crisis between Gov. Fayose and those in charge of filling stations in Ekiti State has resulted in a situation whereby there is a high demand for black market fuel due to the fact that all filling stations has been shut down since the beginning of the crisis. some are travelling to nearby Akure to procure fuel. The rumours spreading everywhere is that Gov. Fayose ordered the filling station owners to be paying a tax of 10 Million Naira, i don't know how true is it though. May God Intervene.

Criticizing Buhari is more important than making life comfortable for Ekiti people. Please bear with us.

Yea you are very correct on this though am not from ekiti but I went there with my boss and this is the real story I heard from my oga friend which also a marketer in Ikere Ekiti...
Hemstone:
OP is a bloody liar. I stay in Ekiti and what happened was that a petrol station constructed close to a market and residential building got burnt months ago (The news was on nairaland sef, with Fayose holding a water hose to assist the firemen lol). The owner of the filling station didn't insure it and that led to people's shops affected not to be paid. Because the petrol station owner allegedly gave them 10k each. This made fayose to order the demolition of all petrol station close to residential area, market, school, hospital etc. They striked at first and didn't sell fuel for few days, later they opened after negotiations. The result of the negotiation was that every petrol station should be insured. That was still not done within the time frame given and Fayose ordered for demolition instead. This is the cause of the current situation!

At least, I am more reasonable than Fayose who instead of facing actual governance in Ekiti is busy making meaningless noise about Buhari.

Strong headed versus cool headed, we are waiting for the winner to emerge. I bet it with Buhari poll victory, Fayose will win after his sheep followers start walking till their stomach is empty.

there is more to it... there are some excess taxes that was imposed on them...the stations were registered under the same government before their erections... Also, as seating Gov, what right(s) do u have to lead hoodlums to some targeted fuel stations in d early hour of one fateful day and vandalized them... it was an eye saw... I was on my way to park that day... I think, the Gov needs to be talked to... masses are feeling it badly...however, it has turned to an avenue for black marketers to swindle in gains as no security agencies is curtailing or arresting them.

The earlier we stopped both the economical and political elites from alway dividing us the better for us in this country. Both the station owners and Gov. Fayose are feeding well on daily basis. We are here fighing on with an empty stomachs. Let's always say it the way it is.

9jakohai:
Most states are running low on cash, especially since the fall in oil prcies means that allocations from Abuja are failling.

So the only option is to tax, and tax and raise taxes.

Gov Fayose is a funny governor...but he has no choice. Unless oil goes up to $100 again....it is either he raises taxes....or he cuts jobs in the civil service plus government services.
True talk.

Unfortunately, people love populist govrrnments.

This is never prudent nor pragmatic and the more where government revenue is either collapsing or has crashed

I don't believe that he can ask the marketers to cough out a whopping sum of 100m to pay tax. Where does he want them to get that kind of money from.

Maybe there is more to their loggerheads than what is speculating.
i don't want to believe that too, but for about a year now, Eco Bank has closed down it's operations in the whole of Ekiti state due to tax issues with the EKSG.
