You don't write like a brilliant chap bro. You are just an above average university student. Well, maybe the mighty weight of the crumbling educational system of the country fell on you, leaving dents in your once brilliancy.
Secondly, you are already a failure since you have finally resigned to be one. I understand that the country is messed up and the future might look bleak, but do you know if you look positively in that same direction you are walking, there is bound to be an opportunity you can grab and harness to your optimum benefits. Look around you, there is bound to be an untapped opportunity lurking somewhere,. Just make your self ready to go for it when you see one.
You're such a mean guy!I wouldn't tell my fellow man how unintelligent he sounds in such a blunt manner.Sometimes, our written or spoken English doesn't really classify us as intelligent or unintelligent people.

Sir, being successful doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the amount of formal education received - it took me a while to realize this though. It is the optimistic mindset coupled with strive in the right direction that bring success.
Thank you very much. especially for the fact that you stated it took you a while to realise it. the op is obviously experiencing a fear and concern common to analytical minds who read and observe everyday happenings in the real world as different from how he imagined or loves it to be. the next stage is adaptation, he will, for the fact that he has real fears, make prudent decisions and maximize opportunities as they present themselves.
now that he knows education in nigeria is almost totally unconnected to success, though with difficulty, he will explore other aspects of life that one with false assumptions and over confidence in his degree will ignore.

Call it blunt, you know it's the truth. He laid a lot of emphasis on his brilliancy but he couldn't live up to expectation.
BTW, brilliancy and intelligence are not the same, though closely related. I never said he isn't intelligent neither did I say he isn't brilliant. I just said he isn't as brilliant as he claimed.

You can't get anywhere with doubt and pessimissm. As a man thinketh so he is. There has never been jobs in Nigeria yet we have people getting jobs that have changed their life completely all the time. Are you saying all the graduates coming out will never get jobs. You are totally wrong. The profit of a University education is all encompassing and it is for life not really about the money
Bros take away knowledge education is a big scam in Nigeria.

OP has a valid point and he is been realistic, people should atop castigating him...we have masters and PhD graduate outside who earn 200k...ask yourself this question...is that money?....... After all the books, the late nights and garri soaking.... We have masters graduates teaching and earning 30k in schools.. It is what I know!!!... My advice to people is that if you can read fine,if you can't...no problem..do business and make money....most rich men in the world are self made men not book men!!!!...school education while not overrated, is not everything!!!
he has a deluded way of thinking, what is the assurance that if he had ventured into business, he would have been a millionaire by now?

My fear is that he lays so much emphasis on education as a determinant of success that he may not explore other opportunities. He relies so much on his excellent cognitive ability to secure him the future he deserves.
If he isn't oriented right now, he may desire to seek softworks such as cyber crimes just to achieve that future of his dream. He needs to be very careful.

I opened this new moniker just to lay my frustrations as typical Nigeria youth who is tired of the whole system.

when I was in secondary school I was among the best in my class,is either I came first, second or third I never had any position below them.
my parents were so happy and proud of me and vow to train me up to University education even if it will cost them starving just make sure I attend University because they were poor.
After hearing this from them I became so happy and elevated (remember those feelings then that u will go to University, those feelings no be here) at that time I don't think about anything else except University, jamb, post utme , life in campus and any other thing relating to University.
I wrote my first jamb in 2009, scored above 260, then score relatevely high post utme but I was denied admission in one of the federal University in Nigeria not because I didn't meet the cut off mark but because I don't have money to runs the admission,I lost the admission that year and became so frustrated and dejected.
let Make it short, i have been writing jamb from 2009 till lastly in 2013 when I got admission to study marketing in one the state University in South East.
I,m in my final year now studying marketing just few months for me to graduate.
You may be wondering while i,m writing this, now let me tell you.
I,m writing this first because ......
1 I,m frustrated right now because after graduation I will start roaming the streets looking for job.
2 Had it been I use those time I spent in writing jamb and do business by now I would have been s millionaire by now.
3 Had it been my parents advice me to learn trade by now I would have been my own oga controlling millions.
4 I have to start afresh and enter the streets for hustling because there is no jobs out there, so why the certificate when I can read and write with secondary education.

Then, why did I spent all the years looking for certificate that I may not use tomorrow because streets pays more than salary.
I remember how I hustle during holidays to meet up the needs in school thinking after graduation good jobs are there waiting for me.
Should I said I wasted my time acquiring University education or what, somebody should answer me.
I think I regret Ever going to University.

You haven't even graduated yet. @OP, a university degree is only useful to get you shortlisted. In the world nobody can tell what you're capable of at first sight, and nobody has the time and resources to check through what millions of people claim to be capable of. Having a degree just gets you on the list. Then you have to prove yourself. . .so basically what I'm saying is that you shouldn't rely on your education on campus alone. It won't hurt to go out of your way to pick up different certifications here and there and keep learning new skills that'll make you an asset to anyone that needs your services.
but d university bill is too high DAT it suppose to fetch out somtin on his own......haba

Yes OP you should regret that soyou went to University especially since you spent four years trying.what your focus now should be the future and not dwell in the past which was a huge failurehowever there are lessons you must conclude from the bad decisions you have madewhen you decided to spend all those years for University you did not consider your future prospects after graduation you did not consider what you needed to do to put yourself in the position so that you can succeed you did all this on yourself you did not look ahead before going down a path you are going into this all blinds

You are not alone in this predicament.
Many other young Nigerians also think like you. We feel we would have been more succesful if all the years we wasted seeking for admission and going through the rigors of schooling was channeled into a trade or handwork earlier.

This is why we must now start to advice the youngsters just leaving secondary sch seeking for admission and so desperate about schooling, that they must learn to combine schooling with trading or a handskill which they would have equally developed by the time they graduate and just continue with it incase jobs do not come after graduation.

very dumb post!!

To be honest, I would rather spend my school fees as a Nigerian student patronising Oloshos than pay that to study rubbish.

Nigerian degrees don't have value, you can manage to finish the BSc but try obtain a Masters in a foreign University so you have an edge over others.

Education in Nigeria is currently a scam, no hope even no hopeless !

In as much as no knowledge is wasted the problem with Nigeria is that the world have moved on from Industrial age to ICT age and we live in an era where its services offered or products offered that brings money and the Salary era is dying, what makes it worse is the lack of practical trigerring of skills in students by Institution and reliance on certificate as requirements and craming to pass. My Advice is hustle legally and maintain your integrity and you will be on the right track in time, be patient and never give up.

@OP,
When it comes to jobs, things are different everywhere nowadays.

A degree is no more a guarantee but a minimum too.

Education is meant to generally enlighten & broaden your horizon, not just to get a piece of paper as a ticket mill.

You can still become a carpenter, a spare parts dealer, a farmer or run a restaurant. Your marketing education should serve as a springboard in whatever you do. And do it better (with modern approaches) than those without a similar education.

Even professional courses like med, law, vet, accounting or pharmacy do not mean that people practice what they read at school.

Everyone has to be flexible now.

Even in the midst of serious challenges, be optimistic and upbeat. You will need it whatever you do or wherever you go.
