Rubbish.
Unilag, UI and OAU are d most sought after unis.High requirements prevent many from getting in but that doesnt change the fact that these three are the choice of many, others only come second. Uniben, Unaab, Futa (and maybe other FUTs) also rank high on many candidates list.

Of course! You only chose UI for instance if you are sure of yourself....as in, your O'levels and UTME scores must be high indeed. The fear of UI is the beginning of wisdom.

OAU is not for every Dick, Tom and Harry, that is why the average students shy away. Only those who are sure of themselve go for OAU. To gain admission to the school no be moi-moi, so i expect the average students who made up the larger percentage of admission seekers to choose the average schools.

There are peculiar attributes that set these 2 Unies (UNIBEN &UNILORIN) out; They are culturally centralized with little or no tribal dominance like most other schools in the country.
Cultural and language Blending is superb in UNIBEN. The only people you can't in good numbers in UNIBEN are the core Northerners who were raised in the core north (they can't cope with the academic demands of the school and the lecturers), those core northerners who grew up in the south are able to cope and fit in.
Most schools in the East are Igbo dominated and their language reigns in the air, likes schools in West, Yoruba language dominates and reigns.
Same is the story of Northern schools.

The fairer an admission process, the more likely the school would be sought after. Also, the less tribalistic a school is, the more it is sought for.

Its like saying Toyota Corrolla is the best car in Nigeria because its everywhere compared to Avalon.

Most people can't afford Avalon nor can they keep up with the running costs. But deep down in their heart, they rather have an Avalon instead of a Corrolla.

Highest number of applicants to a university can be because admission standards are low, course work isn't so rigorous...

I did my first degree in unijos, now doing a second degree in uniben and can state with all boldness that the difference is clear.

Too many hot-headed lecturers in uniben. No how you will go through uniben and your brain would not be opened, that's not possible!
That doesn't mean uj isn't good though.
