Who Speaks For The SS by NwaforIgbo(op): 8:22pm On Jun 04, 2017
I have watched many groups springing up here and there issuing statements on matters concerning SS, Which promoted me to ask this question; Who has the mandate to speak for the SS on the issue of self determination?

If Nigeria was practicing federalism atleast it would have been that the SS paliarment would debate it on their parliament and present their opinion. But this is not the case, as the SS is made of different states and people, not just one ethnicity like the SW and SE. In the SS there is Yoruba (1%) and there are Igbos (about 29%) there are Ijaws (about 33%) and there are Efik/Ibibio (about 35%). So with this figures we can see that the SS is a very fragile place with many ethnic nationality having stake attached to it, it is not a place where backyard groups or forum can just come out and issue press statement on something as impotant as self determination.
Even the governors of the different states can not even say to speak for the SS because constitutionally they are limited to their states. Take Rivers state for example, there are many ethnic nationality found their, even the Governor can not decide on the issue of self determination because it is made of different ethnic nationality. That is how fragile the SS is. The worst is individual with little or no publicity (the recent being one osborne) coming out to declare who is in and who is out without the authorization from the different ethnicity involve.

As far as the SS is concerned their is no official body that has the mandate to speak for the fate of the SS on the issue of self determination, non existing yet. So the only way the SS can be understood loud and clear is through referendum, not some backyard groups and individuals, not even the governors of the different states, because their power does not cover the mandate to decide on self determination.

I rest my case.
