dear overlord77, congrats on your visa. if you are visiting canada for the first time and you dont have a specific event or period to visit, egypt air is always cheapest around late november to early december. the planes are not new but you'll get there while saving out a lot. the cold during this period however, is severe.also lookout for deals on BA, you can get a flight to toronto for just 600GBP with transits in London and montreal. i shall also like to tell you to use the UP express, a pearson airport train service, to go downtown toronto, you will love it and it will cost you just 12CAD. a taxi or uber for this service will set you back at least 45CAD. ottawa is a great city to visit too and montreal if money is not a problem. if you're an explorer and like to see and feel things for yourself, try and see one of the finest cities on earth, vancouver or venture into the freezing streets of yellowknife, the capital of NWT province. i know you cant see it all at once but i like trying.
if you have a valid US visa, flying to boston or NYC and then getting a separate connection to toronto is always cheapest if you plan well ahead of time.

Hello all,

Please I need guidance and advise now. I recently married a Canadian PR here in Nigeria. I intend to apply to visit her. Her work didn't allow us much time here after marriage so I want to visit to spend more time. I also have dual intent ( staying back) with my spouse. I am visiting because its faster than any other category of visa.
My dilemma now is how do I prove ties to Nigeria?
I am a fresh graduate, still serving, no job.
I have siblings here, retired parents, dad has one property which I'm entitled to which I hope to include as ties.

Please advise me as to how to prove ties further based on the information provided. I am entirely truthful with all I've said. Thanks

cc: jawa Jawa

dear deejay102, ties to home country are what VOs are looking out for. it is good to be honest here but a VO is specifically trained to weigh your connection to your home country and the reason for your visit and judge if the applicant will come back. i neither know how they're trained nor how they judge circumstances around an application but you already have doubts. this means your application will most likely be refused. your ties are limited and apparently the most important thing/person in your life now is in canada. the VO knows about this.
why would you want to stay back on a visit visa anyway? this is the 21st century and things dont work easily that way anymore. you cannot work legally on a visit visa and canadians are too loyal as they will ask to see a work permit even for the flimsiest of jobs. you dont have medicals covered as a visitor and as an overstay, if you get into a situation and end up in a hospital, it may be from there to detention then airport for deportation. if you hear police siren, you heart will skip. you cannot open a bank account or dive a car because once you get pulled over its a problem and if you eventually get deported, you can kiss Canada, US, UK, Australia and Newzealand bye for at least 5 to 10 years as they use a very cooperative immigration history system.
my advice is to clear your doubts before applying. if your nysc is significant, use it as a tie. if the land can be yours or shown to be yours in the future, get documented evidence. maybe finish nysc and get a job, preferably in line with what you studied and work for a while. maybe have your wife visit again and take more pictures with a camera that imprints date in pictures. also have pictures from her previous visit and the wedding. you have a great burden to overcome so throw at it all the evidence you've got. relevant evidence i mean.
best of luck.you need it.

dear nefertitiram, sorry for your friend's refusal. i shall question the honesty of your friend first before i question the VOs possible mistake of omission. let me remind you that a VO makes further requests mostly when a document seems fraudulent and most of the times, applicants don't reply because indeed the document was fraudulent. if this is not the case with your friend, he can appeal. this is however, a long and annoying process which may not end well and it may even do him more good to just reapply. if he applied online, this request letter always pop up in the messages but i do not know how it is sent over in paper applications as i didn't have any refused paper applications prior to 2013 before the online became conversant to everyone. this is a rather unfortunate situation because when VOs request for clarification, they are just somewhat in-between and need a little more convincing from the applicant to win them over for issuance.
i would not expect his refusal letter to contain this detail but his GCMS notes will.
best of luck.

Thanks Jawa. So GCMS all the way

Hello Everyone,

I am new here and I have a question.

If one is refused, would it be on the person's international passport? Also, if it is not, does one need to ever state it on other travel documents or information?

I did not attach a return ticket and i paid for hotel reservation as advised by the agent.

I also did an online application and I was asked to go for biometrics, I went the next day and i was sent my tracking number but it reads no records on VFS and on my CIC portal, it now shows we do not need biometrics as against wat it was showing before which was asking me to go for biometrics. my application also shows submitted as against in process.

please advise.

thank you

Did the letter accuse him of something?

nefertitiram:
Bros Jawa,

Pls EPP.

A friend was refused. The only thing in his refusal letter was *did not provide further information upon request*

He says he did not get any request for further info from embassy and the letter did not even state the information they requested.

Can you share your thoughts on this kind of situation

Hello bro, can you help with those templates? As for your questions I think that's a minor error.

There's nothing special about it. It's a personalized template that I use for my visa letters. If you want a proper template, I'd advice you head to the first page of the current student visa thread, samples are posted there to guide applicants.

Dear anniora, the canadian VO is not bound by law to reveal the actual reason for refusal in the refusal letter like the UK ECOs are. They can tick whatever they like. I know someone who had been everywhere in Europe and had been to US and his canadian visa refusal had travel history as reason. He wasn't traveling too much or too long neither was he visiting hostile cities. Applying for GCMS notes is the only way to know why an application was refused. This is like writing an exam, failing and then re writing the same exam without knowing what or why you failed. A failure might just be imminent.
In your case, having visited and returned is an upper hand but every application is different. all applications are treated as though they're first timers as the 'dropbox' option is not available. Your chances cannot be told. You and the VO are in the best position to tell because only both of you know your story completely.
Best of luck

Hi jawa, please I have a question. I applied for canada TRV on the 27th of April 2017 paper application. I have a valid American visa which i have not used yet, got the visa June last year. In the canada visa application I didn't mention I would be visiting America in my trip itinerary. My fear is would the VO have doubts as to why I haven't visited America yet since I have a valid American visa and and seeking for a Canadian visa.now I intend to go to NYC for a few days while i'm on holiday in canada I didn't mention this in my canada application cos i just decided on that.I really regret not mentioning it in my canada application. Please note I have been to the US before with a previous visa.

Hi you just have to wait, my friend applied for canada TRV online application on 18th May 2016 did diometrics the same day she got her visa on 24th October 2016 that's 5 whole months. And please note that her cousin applied on 13th may 2016 that's 6 days before her. The cousin got his visa on 19th September 2016. So applying at the same time with someone else does not guarantee that your visas will be ready at the same time.

Hi omolewa101, you're in luck. if you're honest and established, the US visa is one of the easiest visas to obtain as their VOs are absolutely not interested in your documents. just fill out a ds160, schedule an appointment and attend interview composed. head to the US visit visa thread here on nairaland to learn from other people's experiences https://www.nairaland.com/2656320/usa-visit-visa-part-2

dear Gracey31, do not forget that an invitation is not mandatory to secure a visit visa. since you have been to canada before (i assume you did the previous application yourself too) it should be easier to convince a VO that you'll still come back as you have demonstrated that earlier. gather your documents intellectually and in your LOE, explain to the VO the things you liked about their country and why you'd like to visit again but never forget to reiterate to him/her the fact that this is your home country and you cant abandon it.
Best of luck.
