A few years ago, we had tried to buy arms from the United States for the fight against Boko Haram. Even though America is positively positioned against terrorism anywhere in the world; it refused to sell arms to Nigeria because of alleged human rights infringements by the Nigerian Armed Forces in North Eastern Nigeria. The Americans invoked Leahy’s Law, a law named after its sponsor, Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermon. This is a human rights law that prohibits the U.S. Department of State and Department of Defence from providing military assistance to foreign military units that violate human rights with impunity. What this means is that the international community expects all civilised nations that run democratic governments to treat even indecent people decently. 7 Likes |

Half of the world's prison population of about nine million is held in the US, China or Russia. Prison rates in the US are the world's highest, at 724 people per 100,000. In Russia the rate is 581. At 145 per 100,000, the imprisonment rate of England and Wales is at about the midpoint worldwide. Many of the lowest rates are in developing countries Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/spl/hi/uk/06/prisons/html/nn2page1.stm |

I walked into the thread and see a lot of ignorant individuals, pls count how many US jets or tank that u can see in Nigeria... , follow documentary they won't, it how they would develop there selves and other country they would be thinking of. Just so u know the US has almost to zero weapons deal with Nigeria, thus making Nigeria a non ally to US army military wise. But on the other hand ma main gee VLADIMIR PUTIN and what is that former UK pm name self sold tanks and choppers to Nigeria. I can tell u with prove and boldness that most of Nigerian military equipment ranging from tanks to guns are Russian including the famous ak47, if Nigeria request military weapons from Russia, we would get it without story. who america help, they are not ready to be friends with us, they and their covfefe president. Wh have China, UK and Russia we simply can do without American. 1 Like |
