A few years ago, we had tried to buy arms from the United States for the fight against Boko Haram. Even though America is positively positioned against terrorism anywhere in the world; it refused to sell arms to Nigeria because of alleged human rights infringements by the Nigerian Armed Forces in North Eastern Nigeria. The Americans invoked Leahy’s Law, a law named after its sponsor, Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermon. This is a human rights law that prohibits the U.S. Department of State and Department of Defence from providing military assistance to foreign military units that violate human rights with impunity. What this means is that the international community expects all civilised nations that run democratic governments to treat even indecent people decently.

If we are serious and forget about our excessive ethnic and religious restiveness in this country, Nigeria can make weapons and sell to other nations. Enough of looking at these oyinbos as gods. We need to stop being intellectually lazy! Enough of running after them like mumu...wetin den swear for us sef?

As if their president is an angel, allegations after allegations. They should check his DNA because he acts more like children of hate
At least in the country its one man, the president and the citizens are clearly not in support of his boneheadedness.
In Nigeria ....... Imagine thousands of Donald Trump (dumb, uncouth and mannerlesss) in military uniform tasked with protecting the country..... thats what we have here

Do we use the weapons against our citizens or terrorist?

Shebi they court martialed and sentenced a CHRISTIAN soldier to death a few days ago ..... Meanwhile the ones that wiped out over 500 shiite women and children and the ones that killed protesters in the south east have been left to go on with their lives.

Thats how the Nigerian government shows concern for human rights abuse.
These useless soldiers some people pray for dont care about civilians. Thats why I laugh when I see people talking bout how soldiers make sacrifice for their well being. The reason any soldier fights is to
1. save face so they wobt say the r weak
2. because oga commanded them to

Half of the world's prison population of about nine million is held in the US, China or Russia.

Prison rates in the US are the world's highest, at 724 people per 100,000. In Russia the rate is 581.

At 145 per 100,000, the imprisonment rate of England and Wales is at about the midpoint worldwide.

Many of the lowest rates are in developing countries

LOL Buhari better go to Russia. If you guys read the Russia thread I posted it says Moscow is willing to work with Nigeria. I remember the Trump story got front page on hope of US support. Honestly Nigeria should get its act together start learning how to make more of these weapons ourselves long term. We shouldn't be counting on fickle foreign powers who we have no sway with.

you want to make jets in the same country where you can't guarantee even 6hrs power supply daily?

I walked into the thread and see a lot of ignorant individuals, pls count how many US jets or tank that u can see in Nigeria... grin , follow documentary they won't, it how they would develop there selves and other country they would be thinking of.

Just so u know the US has almost to zero weapons deal with Nigeria, thus making Nigeria a non ally to US army military wise.

But on the other hand grin ma main gee VLADIMIR PUTIN and what is that former UK pm name self undecided sold tanks and choppers to Nigeria. I can tell u with prove and boldness that most of Nigerian military equipment ranging from tanks to guns are Russian including the famous ak47, if Nigeria request military weapons from Russia, we would get it without story.

who america help, they are not ready to be friends with us, they and their covfefe president. Wh have China, UK and Russia we simply can do without American.

Great. Kudos to the good US senators Cory Booker and Rand Paul. Nigerian military should not be sold any weapons until the military is reformed and professionalized. For now we have mostly thugs in uniform.
