Hello, how do i set an auto-respond email address like donotreply@mydomain.com.?

I wanted to be sending messages like "activate your account", "registration successful", "Failed login attempts" e.t.c to my site users with a customized email address like "donotreply@mydomain.com", i searched the control panel but just cant find the tool to do that.

I am using PHP, MYSQL AND GODADDY.com

The truth is that donotreply refers to a non active email on a website. When using a mailer, you can set the reply to email to donotreply@xyz.com.

Secondly is you can set this up with your auto - responder by also changing the "Reply to" section to "donotreply@xyz.com"

From your description, you can automate this things from your scripts cos there are somethings you can't monitor with auto responder except you route your sign up forms with an auto responder and I doubt if you will do that except it's for product marketing.

if you are using auto responder , then create the noreply email address from your hosting cpanel and then insert it on the reply to maill address section whenever you want to send such mail

Do you know why people use donotreply@domain.com? because they don't want to receive replies to automated email messages. The email address is not supposed to be a real one and attaching auto responders to that address is bad because you'd be needing it on few pages that send automated mail and auto responders are meant for general level addresses such as info@domain.com because you expect to receive lots of messages from lots of users and you want to notify them that you got their message.

I feel you're trying to cheat your way around instead of writing code that solves your problem.

Note: Auto responses are triggered when a message is sent to your address, not when a user clicks "sign up" on your website.

This is isn't worthy of being a problem. If you're a good developer, you shouldn't have this problem.

I explicitly stated in the Op what the email purpose is. The messages are notifications, the only response expected from the user is to follow links within the email to activate their accounts or reset their password or visit the website and use change password if they receive a failed login attempts email.

The tasks above do not require sending email to the admin.

I feel you're trying to cheat your way around instead of writing code that solves your problem.

Sending mail is a simple process in Php, i learn to write that code in my beginner lessons.

This thread however is about creating an email address to be integrated into the php mail codes as the source of the mail sent to site users.

Note: Auto responses are triggered when a message is sent to your address, not when a user clicks "sign up" on your website.

It's the other way actually.

When users sent you a message you need to read, comprehend and personally respond. Computers do not have that intelligence. But when a user clicks sign up, that is a straight forward request and computers can handle that, that's why developers automate them to respond by sending the activate account email.

This is isn't worthy of being a problem. If you're a good developer, you shouldn't have this problem.

To host a site online your codes are not the only requirements, you have to reach for other applications developed by other programmers, that is why we buy domain and hosting account and try to learn how to use tons of the applications in the cpanel.

In this case i wanted to have a better understanding of the mail application, i wanted to know how i can use it to have a mail address like donotreply@mydomain.com.

Thank you very much for the response.

But, i wanted the email for one purpose only which is; to send a message and hinting to the receiver not to respond by replying(that is why email source is donotreply@domain.com). I only want to notify them about an action they took or an action i wanted them to take.

In other words i wanted an email address that contains my domain name to send message to my site users.

In that case, use an auto responder, there is a field where you can put that email - donotreply@yourdomain.com but you will need to setup a TXT record on your cpanel for the auto responder to send messages to your customer like its sent from that email.

we are saying same thing. create the email via cpanel using the domain name you have. when sending mails or auto reply, you should add that line of.do not reply to this mail .

First and foremost, Godaddy doesnot make use of CPanel. I've been previledged to work with that. So, let me give you the benefit of the doubt that you couldnt find your way around the backend. Secondly, like someone said, you just might want to cheat your way through it. Well, such mails dont really exist. But if your still want to create such an account, you go to the email section of your CPanel. You dont need codes/scripts for this.

Lest I forget, next time drop all those crappy titles you have as signature. You just couldnt create a simply email account so what are those titles for?

All in all, donotreply@domain.com isn't meant to be a real address...it's another way of avoiding spam messages amongst many other reasons, you can send the message using php code from donotreply@domain.com and receive account based replies at, probably accounts@domain.com....
Besides I want to learn from you how the mail can be sent on-click of a button in a webpage without application of programming!

note: if your mails are always going to the spam box then make sure the script sending the mail is hosted on a server linked with the domain.

Mr Man, GoDaddy has the option to use Linux Panel server or a Windows Plesk server....Godaddy is quite large so I believe you must have missed it somehow

but your advice is solid!

What you are looking for is on the cpanel of every host, its most likely that you haven't searched well. Under the 'Email' section in your cpanel there is a list of everything that applies to your question.
'Email accounts': To create the emails associated with your domain(except you bought a domain that doesn't have much email accounts and you have used them up). You can also set if the the email account should be replied to or not.
I can go ahead to list them all but the rest are self explanatory.

I hope this answers your question.

Godaddy have cpanel, most hosting companies do.

Make up your mind dude, could it be created or it doent exist?

I do not have any signature in my account. You mistook me for someone else. Danielthegeek is not A7.

But how different are you from the dude with crappy signatures? Your geeky self does'nt know godaddy have cpanel remember?

All in all, donotreply@domain.com isn't meant to be a real address...

Good to know that, i have'nt tried sending mail from fake-non-existent email address. In essence you were saying as long as i am hosted on a live server i will be able to send email to people with a madeup email address?

I never thought it will be that easy, what i was thinking all this while is before i can send an email i must have a valid email address.

I will try sending a mail to my gmail account from fake account like thisisfake@mydomain.com, if i receive the mail, i will proceed with sending mails to my site users from donotreply@mydomain.com since the whole purpose of the email account i want is sending emails and not receiving.

Besides I want to learn from you how the mail can be sent on-click of a button in a webpage without application of programming!

In php you send email using a function called "mail()". The function would have to contain atleast four parameters before it send the email.

The parameters are:

1 - $to : Receiving address
2 - $subject : Title of email
3 - $message : The email
4 - $headers: Your email address, Mime-version, content-type, charset etc

The function can be called upon pressing of a button, link or through javascript dom of onload, onclick etc.

note: if your mails are always going to the spam box then make sure the script sending the mail is hosted on a server linked with the domain.

I dont want to receive any mail that's why i want to send the mail from donotreply@mydomain.com

I said without programming!, and yes the mail will surely send if there are no issues with your code or server.

There's a lot of ways to do this, but the best to me is the easiest.

Simply go to your control panel, create the donotreply@domain.xyy Email Address the normal way you would. But set the quota to 0 or 1. This way, replies to this email will fail

You don't need all this stress, what if the app was deployed on a VPS? Isn't it better to just send from scripts? What is the "added advantage" of creating the address first?
