Akpeyi is not good enough I know. But he is getting an unfair criticism. They left the CBs that were out of position out of the blame and put everything on Akpeyi for not taking a red card. Na wa.

Unfortunately he's the fall guy in all of these. At the drop of the hat, I can name 8 players who performed worse than him. Even Ndidi seem to have escaped scrutiny, I can hardly make out his positioning and what he actually brought to that game. If you ask me, the game absolutely passed him by.

Y E S!!! The point is that you don't even see Enyeama in such conditions most times because he organises his defence well. But he did the right thing in that situation

But at that point in time where was the 'organized defense ' that he was left one on one with Rantie. And he did the 'right thing' by allowing Rantie to dribble him like an amateur keeper right?

with these resolutions coming from the NFF our football might be heading south!

My question is who are folks in technical committee? Are they even technically sound? If yes, do they have the progress of our football in mind or they are after their pockets?

Because me I'm afraid of lobbying and corruption from this group of people calling themselves football technocrats... which we've seen before and once again letting it ruin and set fire on the only thread bonding this nation-FOOTBALL.

The 2013 AFCON tittle wouldn't have been possible if not for the input of the technical committee.
Durring the Maigari era, they held meetings every month. This snowballed into our success in South Africa and a smooth world cup qualification.

Leaving too much power and decision in the hands of Rohr is not ideal. Arsenal is a good example of a team suffering due to too much power of decision vested in the hands of one man since David Dein left.

All this claim that Godswill Akpabio International stadium is bewitched to me holds no water and if we must change our home venue then the national stadium in Lagos should be next on the line-it has proved to be the best ground for our national teams over the years and never to abuja cos uyo is far better than that national stadium in abuja in structure and support...

i'm not against it Sir. But you know the Nigeria factor will always set in in such set-ups.

Which Afcon'13 and world cup'14? Our performance in those tournaments was due to individual brilliancies from the coach down to the players... Cos if I recall, the squad we took to those tournaments were far from the best we had as at that time.

It is very unfortunate how things have turned out. But this shouldn't surprise you. This thread have always been fragmented with a cross section of player worshippers, favoritism, emotional and even ethnic biased comments.
The thread used to be beautiful till it tilled so much towards "we must protect my favourite players at any cost".

However, a wise person will learn to separate the wheat from the chaff and get himself entertained to a certain degree while at it.

We atleast qualified for those events without hassle. Winning the Afcon is no joke. Going ahead to equal our best achievement at the world cup actually meant something.
A country like South Africa will do anything possible to reach those heights we attained at both competitions.

Gernot Rohr has accepted for the NFF technical committee to vet his call-ups to the Super Eagles henceforth as was the tradition with previous national team coaches.
SCORENigeria gathered this was one of the decisions taken when Rohr faced the committee in Abuja today.
“Some of the undeserving players lined up against South Africa at the weekend would not have scaled the committee had this arrangement being in place,” a top official told SCORENigeria
“Can you imagine a player from a ‘B’ team in Europe starting an official game for Nigeria in this day and age?”
It was further gathered that sports minister Solomon Dalung was shocked when he was told by officials that the technical committee have failed to sit ever since Rohr was appointed in July 2016 .
Dalung has now ordered that all those saddled with responsibilities be allowed to discharge their duties for efficiency
Rohr told the committee the fact that the team did not train with the official match balls affected the team on Saturday in Uyo.
He also said he was missing skipper Mikel Obi, defender Leon Balogun, goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and Victor Moses, but he hopes they will all return in time for the World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.

http://scorenigeria.com.ng/2017/06/13/rohr-accepts-nff-technical-committee-to-vet-his-eagles-call-ups/
................................
Atleast one positive from the loss against SA. Its absolutely scandalous the technical committee have failed to sit for almost 1 year. I remember blowing my whistle on this issue not so long ago.
No country can develop their football without input from their FA technical dept. As a matter fact the technical committee is even more relevant than the FA president.
As simple as that.

Back to the old way. We take a loss and the hawks come in. If the Committee are to vet the players, they should also take part in the whole screening/camping process, if not they are doing guess work to the detriment of the team.

Also, if the team loses, they should take part of the blame.

I will keep missing Westerhof's time when the coach had superior authority.

What does Dalung even know?

England's Young Lions can handle the Golden Generation tag - Abraham

England Under-21 striker Tammy Abraham insists the Young Lions can handle being called the next Golden Generation.
The 19-year-old is confident Aidy Boothroyd's youngsters are ready to take the spotlight following the Under-20s' World Cup triumph on Sunday.
Paul Simpson's side were crowned world champions after a 1-0 win over Venezuela, with the Under-21s now aiming to echo their success at Euro 2017 in Poland.
The previous group named the Golden Generation included David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney but never got past the quarterfinal stage of a major tournament.
Chelsea forward Abraham is preparing for Friday's tournament opener against holders Sweden in Kielce and believes the new crop can cope if they are given the same nickname.
He said: "We definitely can handle that tag. We have guys who are talented, can work hard and have everything. It's just about blending in and becoming one, not just thinking about yourself.
"They did the country so proud and we would love to follow in their footsteps by winning the Euros. Obviously being the Under-21s we want to show we are the next up and coming players for the England squad, so there is a bit of pressure.
"But then we have some amazing lads, so we think we can go far as well. We can't have them bragging they won and we didn't!''
Abraham, who has been linked with a loan move to Newcastle or Brighton, was eligible for Simpson's Under-20s squad but was selected by Boothroyd for Euro 2017 after scoring 26 goals on loan at Bristol City last season.
He could have been a world champion but is determined to focus on succeeding in Poland with the Under-21s.
Abraham, who will wait until after the tournament to decide his future, said: "Yes it's bittersweet, it's true. It's a great achievement. I'm sure they're proud of themselves.
"The whole country is proud of them. They deserved to win it. But obviously I'm here to win the Euros and we've got a lot of good players, so we're in with a chance.
"A lot of the boys watched the whole game at St George's Park after training. I'm proud to have helped them get to the tournament, of course, but obviously I'm so proud to be here as well.
"Hopefully what I've done all season is paying off and we can win the tournament. The boys are buzzing.
"It's massively inspiring. We're going into a massive tournament now with the Under-21s and it would be nice to end it on a blast. The boys are confident.
"We've had a great season. We just want to top off with a win. Some of the lads have played in the Premier League, in top teams, we have an amazing team. Hopefully we can show that. We're all excited and we just have to prove it.''

Tammy Abraham is already talking about being part of the golden generation of England players. Seriously, the way people talk up the prospects of some of these players dumping European countries for Nigeria perplexes me.

Is it that we haven't learnt from previous experiences that Nigeria will never be considered if such player is in the ascendancy with top career prospects.

Let's continue making derogatory comments about our home grown players and league while talking up the chances of Nigerians abroad to make babies who will represent us. Let's continue deluding ourselves.

If Tammy dumps England for Nigeria, I will quit my job and become a Thai monk for a year.

Search For Top Striker – Rohr Beams Searchlight On Midtjylland Paul”Nigerian Crouch” Onachu

A source close to the coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has once again confirmed Paul Onuachu of FC Midtjylland is firmly in the plans of the coach as the search for a classic number nine continues.
Rohr is searching for a top striker after Manchester City Kelechi Iheanacho failed to justify his spot as the top striker in their last game against South Africa which the Eagles lost 0-2.
Although Tiajin Teda Brown Ideye is still the favourite to clinch the role, Rohr has sounded out his assistants to keep a close watch on Onuachu who took the Danish League by storm last season with 24 goals to his name.
23 year old Onuachu stands at an impressive height of over six feet and his physical presence alone is part of what Rohr believes his team presently lacks in attack bar Ideye who is in his 30’s.
However with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yet to secure any friendly game ahead of their next competitive game in September, the chances of the forward having a chance will only be enhanced if he maintains his form when the Danish League resumes.

People should stop giving Technical Committee praise for AFCON 2013. To the best of my knowledge, the NFF were not happy with the selection of the squad for the tournament and even tried sacking Keshi during the competition.

Today people want to celebrate them as heroes of AFCON. I laugh in Chinese.

Hahahahahah! A country with foresight always makes the move to snatch talents to improve itself before any makes move. In this case, our NFF and some people lacks the foresight to spot hidden talent due to sentiments, nepotism, pomposity and egoism.

That is why we have lost many talents over the years and we will keep loosing them. The likes of David Alaba, Dele Alli and recently Manuel Akanji could have improved our team and given us the edge or hope to dream of winning the world cup but reverse is the case, they don't have dreams and lacks ambition.

No bi for hear I don dey cry Dominic Solanke and co since over two and half years ago but many people said they are mediocre, they are English, they are not technical, blah blah blah, and even called me names.

Behold, the rejected stones are now becoming the corner stones. grin
