Dear all, I have come to understand that agriculture has the capacity to yield better profit compared to Real Estate. Therefore I would like to go into Crop Production but I don't know which one to go for.

Please I need Expert Advice on this, based on the following factors:

1. I have N1million start up capital

2. I'm considering crop that can yield in less than 5months
a) with High Profitability
b) with Low Risk

I'll appreciate all your candid advice.

Why not consider fish farming? We ve been in ds biz for over 12 years, recently we supplied mobile tarpauline ponds to a client in Lagos which you can go and verify, by May 09 this year, his fish would be 2 months old from fingerlings supplied and many are weighing 350 grams each, he is planning to sell as what we call "me lange" any time from now at between 350 to 400 naira per kg, drop your mail for free feasibility and we arrange for inspection

Poultry is indeed a lucrative business if you know the does and don't of the business let me start by saying poultry business is not as risky as people think, most people you come across online giving advice and discouraging people might not be into poultry production some are giving the advice based on what they get online or what they were been told by a friend who has not raised a single chicken before, i stand to be corrected but what i know is that if you take your bio-security measures and vaccinations very strictly then you are good to go. Though poultry business has it own challenges just like every other business such challenges may include getting good day old or point of lay birds from a reputable farm, brooding techniques, vaccination program, diseases and so on, one of the most common disease in poultry is coccidiosis and As for coccidiosis treatment i can recommend (Pantacox) it good and very ok, there are other drugs for treating coccidiosis and some other diseases your Vet will put you through on that.
If you are interested in getting a business plan and also compounding your layers and broilers feed yourself you can contact me on facebook by searching for (Olusunle Juwon) you can also get my mobile number from my facebook page, you can also send me an email on Juwonolusunle@gmail.com.
Before you start tagging me a scammer i am a graduate of Animal Production and i did my final year project compounding my broiler feed myself and the end result at 8 weeks was amazing.

Try ugu, green and water-leaf farming. It grows and is ready for sale in two months at most. You can start it with as little as N30,000 (thirty thousand naira).

You can buy four pods of ugu for N500 (five hundred naira) each. Each pod contains at least twenty seeds. Pay your worker N10,000 to weed and cultivate the land. Then pay children maybe N200 (two hundred naira) per person to weed it for you every week.

You'll need fertilizer or manure (goat or fowl faeces and kitchen waste) so that your vegetables'll grow fast. You'll also need dongoyaro leaves to act as a natural pesticide against caterpillars and other pests that will attack your vegetables. You won't need to water them this rainy season.

I'm talking out of my own experience. I began my vegetable farm February this year. Though mine cost me much less because I did all the labour by myself.

I wish you success. Remember me in paradise o! Lol

Watermelon! What I know about watermelon is that it's a very fragile plant. Na ajebutter e be. Lol.

Watermelon does not like direct sunshine. It's best to plant it beside a fence, under a tree or with other plants like corn. This is so that it'll enjoy shade. It also yields fruit within two months. And this rainy season is good for it.

Yet I wouldn't advice you to use the entire 4acres of land for watermelon alone. Or did you mean 4PLOTS of land? Because 4ACRES fit big pass 4 football fields o! Lol.

If it's really 4acres and you have a long-term agricultural vision, why not plant cocoa also while your vegetables are growing? Cocoa is an exportable cash crop. Cadbury, Nestle etc wey dey Nigeria need am. Even companies abroad need am. Lol. I'm still thinking of how to go into cocoa farming here in the South-East o!

Hello NairaLanders,

In this era of "Change" and Economic Recession, where Banks and corporate organizations are continuosly downsizing while MORE graduates are still graduating in hope that they secure a well-paid job.
If you are still searching to be employed, you are at big risk, its a 20% chance!
Also, if you are proud and satisfied by your current salary, you are a big joker (apologies for the statement) because the over 3000 Banks staff laid off did not get replacement.

But I will advise that you seek to be SELF EMPLOYED and PART-TIME employed by others so the coming recession predicted will not meet you in shock- Oh, I had known...

If you listen to the News, Fed Govt is in full support of AGRICULTURE afterall, we all started from their and na their we go end up when Petrol don diminish value finish. *Gbam!*

You can still end this year better than you started.

I will give you this advice and I hope you take it, Agribusiness in Nigeria is not as it use to be and almost all sectors in agriculture now do not have it working for them like before. By this I mean 1+1=2 is not the case again.
I will not advice against any or tell you not to go into it but get your facts and figures right. Do not depend on feasibility as a guide, see things onsite for yourself. Using the information you have go back to the drawing board with your fact and figures, see if it correlates and get the market for you produce before going into production.
Before I forget, if you plan to do agriculture as a beginner without you being 100% present. DO NOT BOTHER GOING INTO IT IN THE FIRST CASE.
Would have love to explain more but I don't really like typing to communicate(it doesn't allow me to be detailed)
God Bless You.

Go into maize farming, if you already have a land. What you'll need is fadama or constant water. Buy hybrid seeds of corn, plant on 3 hectares. If done well will yield between 30-36 tons of maize within 99 days. Dry for a month locally with maximum 13% moisture, sell to animal feed companies. You'll sell 30tons for about 3.5m.

COMPLETE PLANTATION KIT for CASSAVA/MAIZE/RICE.@ 3X - ROI.

Dear One, dear All;
I have come to understand that agriculture has the capacity to yield better profit compared to Real Estate. Therefore I would like to encourage as many as would care, to go into Crop Production aspect of farming.

With today's advancement in agribusiness strategy, and cultivation made easy with the COMPLETE PLANTATION KIT for CASSAVA/MAIZE/RICE@ 3X - ROI.; going into agriculture has been simplified.

CASSAVA Farming -
The popularity of CASSAVA as the major source of food for Nigerians date back to ages. Between Garri and Rice, it’s hard to tell which one is the most popular as both are the most consumed food staples among the citizens — I think if one is the King the other should be the Queen.
A bag of Garri costs almost the same as a bag of rice, and apart from Garri, there are tens of other food stuffs that are processed from Cassava in Nigeria.
The introduction of the high yield species of Cassava has made it possible for Nigerian Cassava Farmers to produce more Cassava per plot, how much more per hectare, and nearly every land in Nigeria is good for growing Cassava.
An hectare of Cassava farmland when properly planted and managed can produce Thousands of Naira worth of Cassava in a year, hence the development of the COMPLETE PLANTATION KIT for CASSAVA/MAIZE/RICE@3X - ROI.

The kit is valued with the following specifications:

1). #750,000/hectare (where the hectare is less than or equal to three, x<=3)
2). #500,000/hectare (where the hectare is greater than or equal to four, x>=4)
3). Kit works anywhere your farmland is, Southwest Nigeria.
4). Kit is an international best practices protocol for farmland preparation and planting.
5). Kit hands over your farmland/plantation in six(6)-week from the date of purchase cum land allocation.
6). What's next than to wait for harvest and profit.
