I have learned basic CSS and HTML. I just want to practice and proceed in learning. and I want to know how to go about coding my website directly; recommended code editor and every other necessary step in their order. I have a website I want to play with. I have tried searching on Google and all that but they all talk of many things, making it confusing. Please, I will appreciate your help! |

Please I want to be a programmer, but I don't know if it's advisable because I studied Political science in school. Will I be able to learn it or it will be a waste of time. Hope it doesn't involve too much natural science jargons. |

sandammy:LOL irrespective of who u are you can learn the basics of programming. U need a lot of logic understanding and creative problem solving skills to excel. No natural science jargon but a lot of mathematics lol. |

Presidentman:Great!! Knowing HTML and CSS is the best way to begin learning web development. As time goes on tho, You won't write much of these from scratch anymore. Anyways, have you heard about FreeCodeCamp. It is a really great resource. It starts from the absolute beginning and it's free. It has so many levels and if you manage to finish everything on the website (doing it a couple of hours a day will take you many months), you will be paired with a team to build a real life application for a charity and i believe you can call yourself a Full Stack Developer then cos they touch on everything, I mean everything!! If you are only interested in the front end, then you can stop halfway. By then you will be able to write HTML/CSS and Javascript. You'll also learn stuff like Ajax, JQuery, Bootstrap and other stuff. If video tutorials is your thing, then i suggest you try Udemy. It isn't free but they have discounts where you get courses for like £10. If you are interested in getting those for free, Torrent is your friend. Tutors like Rob Percival (front end), Edwin Diaz (my favourite on PHP) and one other guy like that (Don't remember the name) are excellent tutors and Robs and Edwin Diaz tutorials helped me a lot when i was building my first web app. I managed to get a decent score in 3 months for someone who hasn't written a page of HTML/CSS before. Also W3Schools is an amazing resource. I kinda like W3CSS more than Bootstrap but i didn't use bootstrap that much. And for website to build, these video tutorials come with projects. You just don't write codes, you build stuffs. Some build twitter clones, Quora Clones, Facebook clones and eCommerce websites so you won't be short of projects. Also, if you haven't heard or use Stack Overflow before, then you are a learner (Ha! forgive me abeg). I think when i graduate, i will make a tee-shirt that says 'I want to thank Stack Overflow, YouTube, Udemy, W3Schools and then my University for this degree'. Stack Overflow is a community of people who provide help with problems you might have along the way. What is is best for is solving specific problems when you are coding. It has a diverse community so even if you are coding in Lua of Haskell or TypeScript or GoLang, there is always someone to help you. So either you looking to bold a MySQL query result when you display them or just looking for words to float on your webpage or even looking to build SkyNet (The AI that destroys the world ha!). Ask anything and you will be sure to get an answer. If you've got any other questions, holla back. I am not a guru myself but i will try to help you as much as i can. |

Sugarcious:Lol, saying a lot of Mathematics will definitely scare off someone with a Pol Science background. If he wants to get into Machine Learning/Big Data, then he can worry about mathematics. If he wants to write desktop applications and Embedded Softwares, then he can worry about Data Structure and Logic and shit. What if he just wants to do web development, those doesn't require all that nah. sandammy:Depends on what you want to do. I think Web development is simple enough for anyone as long as you take your time and start from the basics. Don't rush and learn the syntax of the language very well before coding. I am sure anyone can at least learn web development, even using different scripting language like Python or GoLang for server side development. |

chupcake:Thank you very much, sir. I really appreciate the time you took for this. I just like to start playing around with coding my website while learning more. I'll really appreciate how to go about transferring my CSS and HTML scripts to my website. I have both sublime text 3 and notepad++ now. |

Presidentman:Hmmm... I don't understand that question but i am going to take a wild guess you already have a website so i guess you just write the code on your editor, put it in your public_html folder but can you please tell me more about what you mean. |
