Kyase:Good in politics indeed. They are simply exploiting the 1999 constitution whose final copy passed through the approval of the hausa/fulani oligarchy before Abdusalam Abubakar passed it into law through a decree. The silly constitution which allocated more house of reps seats to the northwest zone of the country, giving them the power to rule the country from kano is one of those things that restructuring has to address. You can see why they are not interested in restructuring because they want to continue with the unjust majority they enjoy in the house of reps. They are obviously blackmailing the country by deciding what bills to support, frustrate or out rightly shoot down. It has nothing to do with the north being good with politics. It is simply a case of the north benefiting from the fraudulent 1999 constitution they imposed on everybody. This is the reason why the present agitations from the SE and SS will never cease until this fraud is done away with. You all can now see why every bill that is passed in the national assembly must be acceptable to the hausa/fulani, else it is dead on arrival. This is the classical definition of modern day colonialism. Nigeria will never move forward until this anomaly is corrected through restructuring. |

ifyan: ogene007: QueenOfNepal: Kyase: johnreh: drnoel:If you remove that clause that says 'pipeline bearing' communities are 'host communities', you will be shocked that very many Niger-Delta oil communities would be stripped of their status. The north doesn't even need to fight for this, Niger-Delta representatives are the ones who would fight to include this clause because in reality, most of these communities only just have pipelines passing through them. But then when you look at it again, the real oil producing communities hardly even suffer environmental degradation, almost all oil spills in Nigeria are due to pipeline loss of containment and this affects 'pipeline bearing' communities mainly. Although we must all agree it sounds very provoking (especially with the tension in Nigeria today) when you hear that some communities in the NORTH will also benefit from PIB. ![]() |

Odingo1:Put your emotions aside and re-read that report. I know what an oil rig is very well and I understand the environmental effects. The bill covers oil producing communities and these main communities will receive the lion share. Communities housing installations like flowstations would also be termed host communities (in my opinion, these communities actually suffer the most because of the huge flares which is always present during normal operation). Lastly, the bill covers pipeline bearing communities, these are communities which just have pipelines crossing their land. From the Nigerian experience, the biggest environmental impact comes from burst pipelines and this affects mainly remote communities where pipelines traverse hence it makes sense to include these communities. Like I said before, it is even the Niger-Delta Reps that would fight for this to be included in the bill because thousands of new communities would stand to gain from this and they can't be bothered about the few communities outside the ND which may gain as well. You asked how many times there's been oil spills in the north?... Are you suggesting that only communities that have experienced oil spills in the past that should be considered?... If that's the case, do you know how many ND, SE and SW communities that would be erased from the PIB gains? Once again, put your overflowing emotions (against the north) aside and you will get my point. |

drnoel:...is like you guys don't even understand. Does the entire southern lawmakers have the number to counter such an obnoxious bill. Knowing fully well that northerners are in majority both in house of representatives and Senate via number of states, fictitious LGA .Do you now see why majority are calling for restructuring of the country? This imbalance was caused by southerners due to their lack of unity. |

QueenOfNepal:What is my concern? am I a legislator? I only highlighted the obvious. So if pipeline passes through my community and is vandalized leading to environmental pollution, I won't get anything I have two pipelines pass my community, including an NNPC depot in my State (Emene). Think people, I support power going to regions. |

The pipeline networks (depending on the product they are conveying) crisscross states in the West mostly Lagos and South Warri, Port Harcourt, East Aba, Owerri down to the North, Kaduna, Kano and Gombe. |

When u keep silent to misrule misgovernance, malpractice and what not then you are in support. Do the public know half the things that transpire in those chambers? |
