I am from Edo state.

But with the way Nigeria is going now, even on nairaland, you will keep hearing words like biafra, Arewa and so on.

I am befuddled and much concerned about Delta and Edo state , formally known as the Bendel. I don't know what might be the faith of these two state.

I don't know if they would rather take after Igbo in the event that we choose or they will join the yoruba.

Because, despite the fact that Some set of people are agitating that we seperate, And considering the fact that we will just partition into three country and nothing more.

Depends on what the people want.

What happened to the idea of Niger Delta republic?

Anyways, in a more Ideal scenario, All of Edo is Oodua Reublic. In Delta, the Itsekiris are Oodua, while the Aniomas are Biafra.
The Urhobos either join Oodua or follow the Ijaws into Niger-Delta republic of chaos.

Join the Yorubas? Nay, from a Delta State perspective, I see nobody who is even giving that any thought.

Join the Igbos in Biafra? Uh, opinions within Delta State (even among the Aniomas who share linguo-cultural ties with the Southeast) is very much divided on that.

Delta will probably opt for a third option: Join other south-south states in a Niger Delta Republic.

Bendel is bigger than the five eastern states, agitating for Biafra, combined

itsekiri would be inclined to join Yoruba or if at sight, a Niger delta Republic. I personally would love a Yoruba nation with the itsekiri

Akoko-edo, owan, etsako areas are certain to join Yoruba

Eku dialogue ooo. No need to be befuddled. All you Bendelites gotta do is agitate for a republic. That way, everyone is happy. Oodua republic, Arewa republic, Biafra republic, and Bendel republic, lobatan.

So, Edo will be divided

Some will opt in for Yoruba

And some will opt in for Biafra

That's serious

How on earth will that happen.

The way I'm personally viewing dis thing ehn

It will be total madness for 9ja to divide.

The people agitating for 9ja to divide should be apprehended and dealth with. It's pure wickedness.

Edo won't be divided they either all enter Oodua Republic as one, or enter Bendel Republic.
Delta is the state that will be divided between West, East and Niger Delta (Potentially).

Edo would rather stay on their own.

Biafra...nor even mention am.
Odua....we try am before he nor work, hence Mid-West was created.
Niger - Delta.....is an open option.

You know, this nation forming thing is funny as everyone seems to have an opinion on how they will not join Viagra or how they will form their own Republic. When all is said and done and if this breakup eventually happens, you will be shocked at how things will pan out. Don't be surprised if the entire south forms a republic. Also don't be surprised if the people that have been shout "We are not part of Biafra" fighting for resource control in Biafra. The only people in the Niger Delta that I know for sure will have nothing to do with Biafra are Edging people because they're more politically and somewhat culturally aligned with Yoruba. I would have said the same thing about Urhobos, Isokos and Ijaws in Delta state. It's just that if the Ijaws in Bayelsa and Rivers decide to pitch tent with Biafra, their Keith's and kins in Delta state may have no option. And the Urhobos and almost everybody in Delta south and Central May be inclined to tag along because it's really hard to separate these groups because they're somewhat intertwined. Left for Urhobo and Isoko, they'll rather look westwards with their Edo people in Oodua but these things are not mathematics.

Ikt's actually more plausible than anything else. Haven't you noticed that Edo state is the only south-south state that's not so fund of the whole Niger Delta stuff. But they could consider a Niger Delta country as well as joining the Yorubas. Now, joining Biafra is definitely never gonna be an option except something drastic happens.

you're talking from a complete outsider/stranger perspective. Did you say Edo is not fond of the Niger Delta stuff? Then you don't know Edo at all. Edo would rather join Biafra than join Oduduwa. Though it might sound weird to you, but I'm telling you now

Na im be say you no know Edo people. Yes, they're Niger Deltans and know so and can join a Niger Delta republic. But will definitely opt for a union wth Yorubas than Igbos. They have more cultural and political relationship with Yorubas than they do Igbos. Infact majority of the anti Igbo Niger Deltans are from Edo state because they feel they have nothing in common with Igbos and are surprised when people from Delta, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, bayelsa and Cross-River keep acting like Igbos are their closes allies in Nigeria. Just ask any Edo person you see.

Here you go wrong again. The Edo/Yorua relationship is more pronounced than the Edo/Igbo relationship. But I as an Ika man can authoritatively tell you that Edo and Igbo are more related than most people think. The most anti Igbo Niger deltans are not the Edos but the Urhobos of Delta State.

So you are the Insider that is going to carry Edo into Biafra? lol What is wrong with some of you people? How will Edo fit into the giant Jigsaw puzzle that is Biafra, with their history, almost Godly reverence for their Oba and all that stuff?

Do you know there are Yoruba communities in Ovia North East and Ovia South West? and some other places that speak a Yoruba-Edo mixture?
How about Akoko Edo, Owan, Auchi and all those places?
Edos fit in Oduduwa 80% and nowhere else, even the Edos know it, unless they just want to do small shakara for the Yorubas, like a girl playing hard to get.

Oduduwa is an Edo prince and most of the relationship you people have with Edo is from Oduduwa and subsequent interactions. That doesn't mean they would want to be in a country with you. Edos want their country but anything short of that will be Biafra.

First there is no definite PROOF that Oduduwa was an Edo prince, that you are quoting the Benin side of the story doesn't make it true, since that is Benin's version.
2 - You as an Ika can enter Biafra with your Ika communities, but don't be acting like you are now a spokesperson for Benin people.

The fact that Benin People are vehemently against the breaking up of Nigeria because they know that if that happens, they will have to go with Oduduwa. When a referendum for independence occurs to chose between Oodua and Biafra, you honestly think Omorogbe from Benin, Balogun family from Ibillo, Bello from Auchi, and Adesua from Siluko will chose Biafra? grin

Urhobo-Isoko people are not interested in joining either "Biafra" or "Oduduwa" Republics. Our options are: [1] to form a "Niger-Delta Republic" with Ijaws and other minorities, [2] collaborate with other Edoid tribes to establish "Otu-Edo Republic" or out-rightly set up our own independent "Ejadiovo Republic" [Madiovo republic]. No doubt, Urhobo-Isoko with its abundant landmass [appx. 7000 sq.km], rich resources and population [about 5 million] is bigger than some independent countries we have in the world today.
