That has nothing to do with the strength or otherwise of the Lannister forces. As the Queen of thorns remarked herself "Cersei took the future from me". It is not survival she seeks but vengeance (S06E9&10). A clear case of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend"

Like I mentioned earlier, she has the remnant of the force that took the Riverrun for the Freys plus the Kings guard. That's not nothing.

On this we agree and the show hasn't proven au contraire yet.

Well I guess so. Well just have to wait to see. If you could place a number on the Lannister army though, what would it be ?

I'm not exactly saying he was a rapist. But there's no evidence that he ran off with her and didn't rape her. Like you said he was obsessed with prophecy. His obsession caused a lot of damage. What the hell was he thinking? Robert never raped anyone.

Exactly.

One thing the books have taught me is that no one is all good or all bad... everything and everyone is in shades of grey. Ser Barristan's account paints Rhaegar in a very positive light but I always take that story with a pinch of salt, because I feel GRRM (the author) was deliberately mocking the fantasy trope of "the wonderful, charming prince". If Rhaegar was such a wonderful and considerate man, why would he publicly scorn his wife, shame and insult the combined Houses of Baratheon, Martell, and Stark, and crown another man's betrothed as Queen of Love and beauty? Whatever reasons he had, was that the best place and way to show it? And please no one should gimme that lame excuse of love - only dewey-eyed little girls believe that.

Working solely on the numbers mentioned on the show (whether explicitly or implied), Here is my best recollection and attempt at putting a number on the Lannister force:

Tywin took inventory after he arrived at Harrenhal (after the scene he berated the mountain for hanging people for amusement instead of putting them to work, which is by the way how Arya got to be serving in the kitchen, way back in season 2) and estimated his army to be 20k strong. Since he didn't incur any loss before his arrival at Kings landing. I'd say he arrived Kings landing with 20k strong army.

Tywin's role in the battle of the Blackwater was mostly a mop up exercise considering wildfire already did most of the damage to Stannis' army and Tyrion depleted it even further with King's guard and Kings Landing soldiers. So I'm estimating Tywin lost 1-2k max leaving the strangth at 18k.

Jaime took 8k to Riverrun and since he took Riverrun without bloodshed I'm estimating he returns with the same.

Thus, I'll say Cersei has 18-20k strong Lannister army at her disposal plus whatever is left of the Kings (or Queens) guard now.

What's your own estimate?

you're forgetting he fought Rob (the North) severally,

also Jaime took the army with him (book not sure same happened in the movie)

The Lannister forces going by the series should be anything between 20 to 30k. Can't wait for Season 7

Oh yes, it did. Irks me when i hear "love" cited as possible reason for Rhaegar's actions. Personally i feel even Rhaegar himself would find that insulting.

The bolded above leaves me a bit dumbfounded... Allow the Tully forces to match up North and maybe join up with somebody else (the Vale, perhaps) and then become another threat tomorrow? I doubt Jaime would be that stupid. Besides these "Tully forces" weren't much at all; i dont remember their numbers, but they were at most a few hundred. Plus they surrendered all their weapons and horses; what good is an unarmed soldier?

If i were to guess where they went, i'd assume the few knights among them would eventually find their way to Seagard and take ship there to the Free Cities as sellswords. A few may take the black. The rest would probably resort to banditry, or else just wander around till they assimilate with the small folk. Most of this "force" were actually conscripted (as opposed to a paid soldier) and would be happier going back to their old peaceful lives, so I doubt they'd be quite eager to ride off to yet another war in the cold north.

As for going North "to help Sansa", suffice it to say that's it simply impracticable. Even if they had their weapons and horses, how will they get to Winterfell? The Ironborn hold the Neck - or is it the Boltons? I misremember. Either way, none is a friend to the Riverlands. Of course the show producers can always "magic" them into Winterfell (like they did with Littlefinger and the knights he brought to the Battle of the Bastards), so i suppose the notion is not entirely impossible.

Why did Brienne escape in the night? Well, perhaps it had something to do with the fact that it would look mighty suspicious to the rest of the Lannister army if Jaime finds her within Riverrun and doesn't arrest her for ransoming to her lord father... after she renounces House Stark and swears fealty to the Iron Throne, of course. See, Brienne and Jaime's "friendship" was a secret between them; Jaime is at heart a Lannister and Brienne knows this - she knows that their allegiances are not the same at all, and she wisely escaped to avoid putting Jaime in an awkward situation.

The trailer was 'WOW' !!

The wars to come will make s02e10 and s06e09 look like child's play

Seeing Jaime ride into battle prolly means that he'll have Cersei's back. They'll both die together then.

It also seems Jon went back to Hardhome again to save more wildings.

Looks like Euron Greyjoy will do alot of damage to his niece when they collide.

I've always heard of this theory ,but is Bran the Night King?

So many questions? Firstly, What is that fire behind Jon when he kills that thing? Dragon fire?
