It all depends on the man's belief,character and temper.

My father beat my mother, as a habit, for almost 29 years of marriage,started 3 days into the marriage.
He was/is not a celeb,not rich.He just learnt that beating a wife is the way to humble her and make her submit to his authority as head of the family.
My mum was forced to adjust and manage as she was told that it's a normal practise for men to beat their wives and God hates divorce.
So she endured for 29 years until the last beating she got 3 years ago.She had a big tear from the broken bottle her husband stabbed her with and had an emergency surgery.
It was then she decided to call societal and biblical belief bluff and run for her life.

My mum would tell you she has never been happier.The last 3 years living on her own without my dad remains the best years of her life ever since she said "I do".

Many men beat their wives because they know the woman will manage for fear of what the society will label her forher failed. Marriage.

For where? Even as a teenager with bo.obs,he used to strip me to panties n bra to beat me.There are scars but not very bad now.Then,my friends at school used to ask me what I did to be beaten like that.There is nobody I hate on this earth like my father.

Childhood was painful.every flimsy mistake gave me serious beatings...my mum had the duty of dressing my wounds.today,the bridge that connects me to my father has been completely burnt.never in my life will I ever have anything to do with/say to him.even if I see him on the road,i will simply turn my face.I hate him for life!

My dad used to hit me and my siblings on the stomach,head,anywhere...I once passed out for days and was eventually managed @ Yaba Psychiatry Hospital.
I missed SSCE that year because of a broken arm,thanks to my dad.

The wickedness that men do lives with them.Today,my sibs and I are successful and independent while he lies in hospital due to prostate cancer.May he not recover from it.Amen

No other woman,he trained me through law school but I have abandoned him because I grew up to see him maltreat my mum.he never showed her love.always abusing her,beating her,injure her,strip her naked on the streets,plan evil against her...and he thought he could gain my love...Never! Even if he trained me in Harvard,i will still hate him.

I stopped all forms of communication with him a day after I got married and my mum moved out a week later.All is settled.Let him live alone and die miserably!

And the scars on my skin I got from the unending regular beatings...Gosh!

I think I get your point now. Honestly I think she's been charred almost permanently from her abusive childhood by the first man in her life who is suppose to be the foundation of love, protection and self-confidence in her life.

It's a tough circumstances to be born in. I think she needs help psychologically as her perception of men were formed by her experiences as a child.

Men her age can still brighten her life where her father has failed by painting a whole new different picture. Mocking her will only justify her skewed perception of men and serves no purpose.
