Hello house,
Am in Abuja to work, all the way from Ogun state. when leaving am thinking of going through the airway via Lagos since I can afford it, provided its not more than 50k.

I've never been to the airport before talk less of ever seeing an aircraft face to face.

I just don't know how to go about it, do I need passport and visa to travel from Abuja to Lagos.
Please what are the procedures?

when I find my way to the airport what should I do or ask for?
Thanks.

kindly come to my aid.

You don't need a visa, you probably need passport or any government recognized identity card such as voters card or driver's license.

Just search online to book your ticket from Abuja to Lagos, pay and get your ticket.. Print out your ticket and visit the airport on the date stated on your ticket. Be mindful of the time.

At the airport, you will be properly directed to the terminal on your ticket.

Okay...it's really simple.

You don't need a passport, just a valid ID is okay for a local flight.

What you need to do is check the airlines website. It's advisable you book from their website (it's marginally cheaper) instead of going to pay more and join long queues at the airport. Please call them to confirm the flight, please don't book if they can't confirm the flight.

Abuja to Lagos should be less than #35,000.

Don't have liquids and metal in your hand luggage. Maximum baggage allowance is 23KG (2PCS) - varies for airlines.

Check flight time from the airlines website and arrive about 90 mins to flight time.

I'd advice Azman air. It's cheap grin grin and their flights are on time.

No, no... you donot need a visa or passport... you just need a means of identifying yourself...
work/staff/student i.d card, national i.d card or even an atm card.

when you get to the airport, you can ask the porters for directions.
normally in abuja airport...
You go to the airline stand to get your boarding pass, you would also get your luggage weighed
you would get your boarding pass stamped by FAAN then you proceed to the waiting room where you would pay attention to the annoucement being made.

You can get your flight tickets online or when you get to the airport... however it is cheaper online
You can also 'check in' online if you running late (airpeace)

Domestic Flight Boarding procedure in Nigeria are:

1. Purchase your ticket either online and still need a tout to get your boarding pass at the airport or get to the Airport and give the tout cash and wait for your boarding pass.

2. Go to the security clearing point where you will be begged for money by the security checking agents.

3. Wait for the boarding announcement for your flight which goes thus; "Attention Ladies and Gentlemen, this is to announce that Arik Air Flight 311 to Lagos scheduled to leave at 0630 hrs has been postponed until 0900 hours due to technical reasons".

4. Wait till 0930hrs for the next announcement which will go thus "Attention Passengers on Arik Air flight 311 to Lagos, this is to announce that your scheduled flight has been delayed till 1300 hours due to Logistics reasons".

5. At 1800 hours the announcement will come again "Attention Ladies and Gentlemen, this is to announce the arrival of Arik Air flight 501 from Abuja, this service shall operate as flight 311 to Lagos". You keep waiting.

6. A 2100 hours, the announcement will come again "Attention Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a boarding call on Arik Air flight 311 to Lagos. Please proceed to the gate for boarding. First to board passengers only shall be seated as the flight is over booked. Kindly proceed on your marks, get set, Goooooo. Thank you for choosing Arik Air".

grin grin grin

Meanwhile Chinedu whom you both left home at the same time that travelled with Cisco has arrived home in Lagos, eaten lunch and dinner and is in bed already fast asleep. grin

Boarding procedure:

Get to airport on time.

You need only a photo ID though i feel one needs a visa to go to Lagos these days cos the way i day see tat Lagos for DSTV and all their forming

Don't carry fluids especially if you are traveling with only hand luggage so keep all sharps, perfumes and body lotions at home else you'd forfeit it

Surely don't wear shoes with torn socks or a trouser that needs a belt to hold it up and if you have smelly feet please be sure to fumigate it; you'd be required to take of your belt and shoes.

Relax and wait for your delayed flight to be called. Pack a mattress if you are booked on Arik.

Please listen very carefully and ask questions. The flight announcers speak from their noses and are barely audible so if you are unsure, always ask what he/she said.

Board promptly; there are people who like to stow their luggage in another persons overhead bin and you dare not touch their bags.

Ignore the prayer warriors who will make you panic and be ready for the applauders who always clap when the plane lands

das all

It is pretty simple. There is always a first time. Just search online for available flights to your destination. Book and pay through the airlines website. Reference number will be generated and sent to your phone. Either print out booking details from the website or just take the reference number sent to your phone to the airport on the day you are scheduled to fly.
Be mindful of the time. At the airport, locate the stand of the chosen airline and submit your reference number. You will be issued with a boarding pass and properly checked in.
Just wait around for the turn of your aircraft to board.

Hope it helps

Some posters ve said it all but a little contribution won't be much.

Step 1 - Get your flight ticket directly from the airlines website (Recommended). Arik, air peace, medview etc.

Step 2 - Get your ticket confirmed and ensure you check the departure time before confirming your booking and you can pay online with your ATM card.

Step 3 - Get to the airport 30mins - 1hrs before your departure time and ask for your preferred airline stand at the airport to get your boarding pass and check in your luggage. (You need form of identification) your ID card, or even ATM card can serve the purpose for domestic route only.

Step 4 - Proceed to the departure hall (someone can guide you there). Wait for your flight number to be called and proceed for boarding.

Step 5 - Flight attendant will help to locate your seat being the first timer and enjoy your flight wink. Duration of flight time is 45mins from Abuja to Lagos.

Best of luck sir
