Nice & educative post but a part of no 18 where you said nembe & Ogbian people speak a cross river language is absolutely wrong. Nembe is an autonomous ijaw tribe & it's well documented in history as their ijaw language is the official language of the brass people spoken by the inhabitants of that region.

I didn't say Nembe is a cross river language. Maybe you misinterpreted me. What I meant was that Ogbia is a cross river language and this is a documented fact.

Thanks for your comment.

@ OP, frathermathy, nice post.

I am from the middlebelt, so lemme help correct some little mistakes about the middlebelt ethnic groups here.

First of all it is JUKUN by spelling n not JUNKUN or JUNKUM as u spelt in some places. lol cheesy

>>>>Also, your number 22, Tivs were never part of Wukari federation.
Wukari federation was the successor state to the old Kwararafa kingdom after the kingdom was divided by internal divisions and jihad attacks from the Sokoto caliphate jihadists.

So, Wukari federation only consistes of the Jukuns, Kutebs, Ichens, Chambas, Jibu, Wapans and many other similar ethnic groups of Kwararafan descent in present day Southern Taraba, buh if you talk about the older Kwararafa kingdom which was the predecessor state to Wukari federation, that's where the Idomas, Igedes, Igbirras, some Igalas, Alagos, Mumuyes and many other dozens of middlebelt ethnic groups in Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Adamawa and even Cross river states come in.
Thanks.

Thank you for your corrections. I really appreciate.

Nigeria is so blessed. Urhobo people are nice people but wayo full three head. All in all I love urhobo

Urhobo wadoo!!!!! Urhobo oma
. The Urhobo "wadoo" sounds like "wayo" so people only made fun with it. There's nothing wayo in the nature of urhobo. I hope you have learned something now.
As for the OP, the urhobo man will understand the isoko dialect if he can pay rapt attention when isoko is being spoken. They share a lot of similar words.

Please say that again! Only this time shout it out loud!

What makes anyone think Anioma will remain in Nigeria when the rest of our kin across the Niger leaves?

Fake Niger Deltans all over this thread including the OP. They are using Nigerian wuruwuru to divide up Biafran land. The only part of Niger Delta that is not Biafran is Edo and Ondo (and maybe Olukunmi people - the are from Yorubaland). All the rest are Biafran. Don't let the OP fool you.

17. Ikwerre, Ekpeye and Ogba (Akalaka brothers) speak loosely related Igboid languages. They trace their history to Benin like the Edoid groups. Ikwerre is the dominant ethnic group in Rivers State.

I cannot say for Ogba and Ekpeye but Ikwerre isn't any Akalaka brother or whatsoever. There definitely were influence from Ekpeye at the west end just like there was Okrika to the South and Ogoni to the East but your information is flawed. Ikwerre and Etche are more related than those Akalaka people. Okpo Nwagidi is the father of Ikwerre and migrated out of Etcheland first before dispersing with his people to Isiokpo, Omuanwa, Omuagwa etc. with later migrations westwards and eastwards to occupy the vast area we have today. Ikwerre had no monarchy and does the Oha system which can be found in Etche and parts of Imo State.

The similarity in language is same as seen in all Igbo speaking people apart from Ekpeye.

You're without shame, cursed with the same myopia I've seen afflicting many of your tribes men.

Buffoon! Arrogant quack! You're defining what is what and who is who in another man's ancestral lineage and affinity. While lumping urhobos and Isoko as one you tore the Anoimas into tiny groups. Bloody wizard! Idiocentric bastàrd! Anioma is one! We're the largest ethnicity in Delta State with the most LGAs.

Idiot! Come and teach me my history.

Oh, Urhobo is fifth largest ethnic group in Nigeria just as Cameroon is the biggest country in Africa.

Nice article, but wrong on some points,
Anioma is not just acronym, but the name of the indigenous people for their land,it means fair earth or good land if you will, their dialects differ according to communities but is divided into 2 ,enuani meaning upland and ukwuani corrupted to kwale meaning low lands, they are not igboid but their own Igbo speaking people.
These present day demarcation and state creations are man-made and not natural.
Notice, the ndoni of rivers, ukwuani of delta and oguta of Imo state have virtually the same dialects.they are just face to face across each other on the river Niger.

Just saying.though.

Kudos for presenting your argument like a sane person. I'll, therefore, reply you.

1. Enuani is a pure Igbo dialect.
2. Ika is an IGBOID language, not a dialect.
3. Ndokwa is an IGBOID language, not a dialect.
4. Ikwerre is an IGBOID language, not a dialect.

I know the confusion may arise on what constitutes "Igboid languages" and "Igbo dialects". I'm not in a position to answer that. What I've written was sourced from academic sources on the languages. You may Google "Igboid languages" and read up yourself.

before you guys arrived we were all having a nice discussion and I pointed out some errors in his map which he accepted was wrong.

Anyway, when I say Niger Delta, I'm referring to the Geographical Niger Delta region which houses the Ijaws, Itsekiris, Urhobo, Kalabari. I do not mean the cultural and sociopolitical Niger Delta.

Meanwhile, the ANIOMA nation is sociopolitically a Niger Deltan nation just like the Ikwerres and Andonis but they are not in geographical proximity with the Niger Delta.
