The major tribes in Nigeria are the hausa, igbo, yoruba and others like Tiv, Edo etc. But what about the remaining...

We have about 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria with abt 500 languages but the minority do not have a say. In the north Hausa are the majority and therefore more people tend to speak hausa even if it's not their mother tongue. This tends to reduce the number of people speaking their mother tongue. English our lingua franca has also help in deculturizing us making us abandon our culture.

It is estimated that by 2100 half of the world's approx. 7000 language is going on extinction.

Therefore we need to uphold our culture and teach the younger generation if not our languages will be extinct. We can see that some languages have been extinct and some are on the verge of been extinct.
