That people ought not be given any special promotion for doing their job, or what is the job definition of a policeman? Only to collect bribe? Special recognition could be given in their next appraisal and it is consistent accumulation of such recognitions that you reward, not one-off show. That is the way to promote professionalism.

In cases like this, IGP should clear the air whether he's entitled to two promotions in a year, because in the civil service, one is entitled to one promotion in 3years or 4 years as the case maybe, why the senior officers are angry is that they struggled for their own promotions while in some cases they were due but no vacancy, and some of them are still stagnant in one rank for years, if IGP does not clear the air, it seems the officers in concern will achieve their agenda.

They say success have many friends but majority of the people who celebrate with you at that point aren't happy you are successful. Such is the case of these gallant officers.

In particular, Abba Kyari needs to watch his back. He's in the midst of wolves and he needs to be smart lest they donate him to the enemies.

I remember the much celebrated Col. Muh'd Ali who liberated Baga town from the grip of Bokoharam. His crew were later ambushed and he was killed in the attacks. Many are not simply happy that you succeed.

I think the Nigeria Police Force should not focus only on promotion to appreciate his men. We have other ways of showing appreciation, after all this is national assignments, if Its National awards or medal I think is still OK.
