No he did not. Awolowo died at the ripe age of 78. He achieved what a million men can only dream of in his lifetime. What is your own achievement other than about afonja muslim all over nairaland like a programmed robot?

Awolowo even lived longer than your king ojukwu. grin

Have you ever seen a true Igbo man praised Zik

Why do you think we honor Ojukwu above Zik

Zik is like Awolowo who knew the truth, said the truth but never stood with the truth

If Awo was like Zik, you guys wouldn't be accusing him of tribalism like you do. Zik was a deluded pan africanist who wanted not only to lord it over Nigeria but if possible rule over Africa. That was the height of delusion. He traded his people and their biafra to remain relevant in Nigeria. Even when sardauna didn't wish to stay in Nigeria, the ambitious Zik begged him to. Now see how many Easterners have been wasted over one naijeriya since 1967?

Awo on the other hand was a realist and pragmatist who knew better than to pretend to love others more than his own people. He was a champion of the Yoruba who was not interested in other regions but in the welfare of his own people. If he had his way, nothing called Nigeria would have been birthed in 1960. Yoruba interest came first and last for him and he remained true to it till death.

Awo was like Zik because they were unstable in their belief

Awo called Nigeria a mere geographical expression and went ahead to defend Nigeria

Zik shouted One Nigeria and yet cheated Eyo Ita

Both were useless people who have no pride and honor

Nnamdi Azikiwe University should be changed to Alhaji Sheu Shagari University (ASSU). The Alhaji is for emphasis.

Have you ask yourself why Zik family is not relevant in igboland again? That is because he was the major reason why biafra lost the war. His refusal to ojukwu made the British and America including Russian to join Nigeria and fight biafra his home.

They claim Zik is not a proper elder.

That's why we've asked for a renaming of the university.

That's apparently an indisputable fact!

From Owerri to Port Harcourt ... to the ghettos of Ajegunle and Orile in Lagos ... to the desert regions of Sokoto state and Zamfara state, to the boko-haram-prone city of Maiduguri ... you will find them there, doing what they know how to do best ...

...selling their bodies for pittance.

SoNature:

Zik lived in cloud cuckoo land, trying to be a nationalist - something that was a clear mirage.

The Nigerian state doesn't encourage nationalism so you shouldn't expect the Igbos to jubilate on hearing the mention of Zik, a supposed nationalist.

Awolowo was a parochial leader and as a consequence, he was (and till date, still) celebrated by the Yorubas. Tafawa Belewa was to the north what Awolowo was to the west.

Instead of Zik copying from these people, he was busy trying to be a nationalist.

No tribe has ever been
fooled with the "One Nigeria" concept like the Igbos...
yes, Rochas will be its next causality.

Nnamdi Kanu didn't insult Zik...he merely shared the view of an average Igbo man about Zik. Late Ojukwu, a sectional leader, was worshipped and respected more in the east.
An igbo man just called igbos fools, all because of a desperate attempt to defend Kanu. cheesy

Zik was the person who destroyed the ancestral unity between the Igbos and their neighbors

Zik abandoned his people in their hour of distress

Zik has no honor and pride

Zik never stood by his principle

Zik was easily moved out of the truth he knows all because of his desire to be famous

Ojukwu is more honored than Zik

What is the moral of the lesson

Never depart from the truth you know no matter the pressure you face.

There is a very great difference between bravery and being suicidal.
A wise man is also different from a cunning man.
If you think insulting Zik will quicken your actualisation of biafra then continue but it is only a foolish man who repeat the same action and expect a diffetent result.

Alhaji Sheu Shagari University would suit nicely.

Afonja, our most revered leader is Ojukwu and not Zik

Ojukwu who caused the decimation of millions of your people ... fled to Abidjan dressed like Cossy Orjiakor, instead of dying for a cause he claimed to have held in high esteem

and Zik ... who was among the Nationalists that fought for the independence of Nigeria and a former premier of the Eastern region.

Your choice of the "most revered leader" is not only worrisome but ... I reserve my comment make I no chop ban.
