Kudos to seyewest and others who have contributed immensely to issues on this thread.

I will be travelling in July From Lagos to Houston International Airport, Texas. I already booked the ticket and made the hotel reservation.
However, I will like to ask how I can book for the bus ticket from the Airport to the local hotel in Houston as I have read on this thread that it could be demanded at the POE.

They won't ask for that except if you're going to another states in U.S.Confirm from the hotel if they run airport shuttle service if they don't you can always take a cab to the hotel.

Please I would be traveling to San Antonio, Texas very soon. The flights to San antonio are much more expensive than the flights to houston.
Please is it possible to fly to houston and not have problems at IAH POE , when my last destination is SAT?
Houston to SAT is only three hours and I can have someone pick me up. I just dont want POE issues.
Then, in the event I would have to buy/show a bus ticket, which bus service would you recommend. Generally, greyhound has rather flexible times, but Im willing to try others.

Thanks...

it make sense flying to Houston and since it's the same state I see no problem. No need for bus ticket and also did you mentioned the person coming to pick you in the ds160 form or at the interview? if not no need to bring the person into it... Try greyhound you can buy the ticket with naija atm card.
safe journey.

I took a trip to the U. S (New York) last week and was refused entry. My Visa was cancelled. Reason being that I'm visiting an address different from that I used at the point of applying for the visa. What do I do now?

Hello everyone, I will be travelling to U.S soon and will be 7 months pregnant by the time when I travel. I do not intend to have my baby in the U.S just 2 weeks visit. I understand I might be turned back because of the pregnancy. Who has had similar experience before?

Honestly you have to rethink this decision. If really for visit, it would be better for you to just postpone it if possible.

It might be difficult to convince them at the POE that you are just there for visit. Why do you want to take such risk?

My opinion though.

Thanks for your response. Myself and hubby are weighing our options and considering postponing as well. We want to explore all possibilities before deciding. Postponing will be our last resort.

Please just do, imagine showing up at the POE and trying to convince them that you dont want to give birth.

Even pregnant women that have doctor's appointment are sometimes denied entry.

Don't bother. The US CBP has no time for stories any more. Someone was sent back for writing a different address from the one he used in filling his form.

I beg to differ a little bit even though it's very risky and there's 65% chance of returning you to Nigeria you maybe able to convince them and they may out of test allow you into the U.S by stamping you in for just 15 days instead of 6 months.. They've done that to someone I know and you must have convincing evidence as to why you should be allowed in.

It is perfectly legal to give birth in the US you however have to make your intentions known at the point of interview.

So my question is were you pregnant during your interview or not?

If you got pregnant way after the visa was issued, then delay your journey till you are about 34-36 weeks gone, get a doctor and hospital in the state you're visiting to accept you for childbirth if possible pay the fee in advance and travel.

At the POE when asked let them know you are their for childbirth and present all doctor's / hospital's correspondence. You should have no issue whatsoever. Also go thru the 'giving birth in US thread' and you will be better informed. start reading from part 1 to atleast part 3.

If however you LIED/MISREPRESENTED in your interview... OYO is your case.

NB: forget the 2 weeks vacation for a 7 months preg lady. Even me wey no be VO will doubt your story because why will a 7months pregnant lady fly over 23hrs for a vacation and fly back in 2 weeks? That is stress

You can re apply for a visa and come out clean in your DS 160 form.

You can also go the dropbox route though you'll most likely be called for an interview, come out clean and say the TRUTH as to what transpired.

Though i doubt your story as to why you were turned back... goodluck

I will be travelling to Houston next month for a holiday during my annual leave. I just read a post about someone being sent back because the address he filled in his ds-160 was different from what he filled on arrival.

Now my issue is I will be staying with my sister who just bought a house and will be moving this Friday. This means the address I will fill on arrival will be different from what I filled in my ds-160 although it's the same zipcode.

I am a little nervous. What do u guys think?

P.s. it's my first time in the US.

No I don't think so you can visit another place after visiting where you stated you wanna visit at the first time.

fill the new address and explain reason why it is so... especially since it's the same zipcode.

I have a friend who was turned back in May. CBP will not hesitate to cancel the visa on your passport.

Hi everyone. I am travelling next month on a student visa. Its within the earliest arrival date on my I-20 and just a day after my visa becomes valid but almost a month before my school orientation.

The school is in California but I booked a ticket to Houston because my sponsor lives there and I will be at her place till its close to my orientation date.

Is there a chance that I might have problems at POE since the address of residence I chose was the school but I will first be going to her place?

Her name and address are listed on my DS-160 as my sponsor.

I advise you go a week before your resumption, it will be more safer but much more safer is arriving a day before your school resumption.

Please, maybe I need to clarify.

I am going to her place first because she will be paying my fees and purchasing medical insurance for me before I arrive at the school. The school requires I pay my fees before I arrive, but she wants to pay only after I'm in the US.
Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by KaptainAfrika: 10:25am On Jun 29, 2017
Sorry and this is my opinion. Tell your sponsor to pay your fees (and the medical insurance later) before you get to the US, because this makes no sense at all.
Okay imagine this:
CBP: Have you made any payments towards your education?
YOU: No sir, my sponsor says I have to be in the US before she pays my school fees and the medical insurance, required before resumption.
But wait, how did you get a student visa, without evidence of making any payments for school

My school only requires I pay my fees after my visa is approved, but before arriving at the school. I have only previously paid for the application. Don't know why you say it makes no sense.

What makes no sense to me is waiting till last minute to rush everything without even having seen the person who has promised to sponsor me face to face. It's only respectful I humbly see her than just make demands from a distance.

1. This is the problem. The CBP officer would want to see proof that you have made full or part payments for your studies and you expect him to let you in, because "It's only respectful I humbly see her than just make demands from a distance".
2. The thing that will get you in trouble is having to explain why your aunt, wants you in the US before paying your fees, are you sure she is not setting you up, to be deported? does she really want to sponsor you?
3. C'mon think about it, does this make any sense to you, making a requirement that will be hard to defend at the CBP stand, she should make part payments before you get to the US or YOU WILL BE DEPORTED, do you wish to take that risk?
4. Okay, lets say the CBP officer buys your story and lets you in, and then your aunt says, she can't sponsor you due to unforeseen circumstances, then what happens? you will be doing what in the US...
If you still decide to go to the US, please do us a courtesy and let us know how it went.

The Kaptain points are valid and to add my own kobo.... Always have it in mind that visa alone does not guarantee you entry into U.S what if the CBP officer is not in the mood to listen to story... Your explanation is not strong enough unless you have strong evidence to back it up which is school document stating the term of payment at so so so time and also if your sponsor is ready to assist you is it really necessary to see her face to face before making some part of payment.
I will advice you to travel 2 weeks or less before resumption and have your connecting flight from texas to California at hand before leaving Nigeria just show that you're serious about your mission in U.S and pray for favor.

Hi all.

Will be visiting the US real soon with DW and 4kids, POE is JFK. My relative who is our host was stated in our DS 160 during renewal via Dropbox as the sponsor of the trip. We will also be staying at his place.

Question: Will 9k dollars extra take along cash appear excessive to the CBP officers?

No not at all... it's just right.. meanwhile you can hold more than $10k which you can divide between your wife and your self.

It still stands as above $10,000 which they have to declare if they wish to split it since they are traveling together.
Save yourself the declaration and hold the $9k and use your cards if need be.
