For the ignorant who seem to be running free here allow me post this below:

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland (depending on local reference patterns). They also deal with diseases involving the skin, breast, soft tissue, trauma, peripheral vascular surgery and hernias.

General surgeons may sub-specialize into one or more of the following disciplines:

1. Trauma surgery/ Surgical Critical Care

2. Laparoscopic surgery

3. Colorectal surgery

4. Breast surgery

5. Vascular surgery

6. Endocrine surgery

7. Transplant surgery

8. Surgical oncology

9. Cardiothoracic surgery

10. Pediatric Surgery

If the above still does not cure their deep levels of ignorance then nothing else will.

According to Royal College of Surgeons,
Traumatology and Orthopedics are the same specialty. A general surgeon can't be a traumasurgeon i.e FRCS (Tr/Ortho) as seen in this link
https://www.rcseng.ac.uk/careers-in-surgery/trainees/foundation-and-core-trainees/surgical-specialties/
Y'all can go back to arguing.

Very soon, a spacetacry will glorify her paramedic status to:
11. Paramedic surgery
Then she will become holy-trinita-surgeon

Why do you always copy and paste?

My issue was that you initially made it seem like traumatology was ur main specialty, but now you are saying it's ur sub- specialty. Is that clear now?

Even if you're sub- specialty is trauma surgery. You are still not a custodian on traumatology.

You obviously read it without an iota of understanding and simply wish to counter me. I suggest you start learning to read with understanding and find out first what a person who handles trauma surgery is called.

Do I explain what you read and failed to grasp to you for free?

What do you expect, when a felixomoron got deluded via Google search, and morph from-

*a medic with sleeping brain to

*general surgeon to

*traumatologist and

*perching as paramedic now?

So now "I made it seem as if" and no longer "I definitely said" it's my sub specialty.

The copy and paste for you was same way I had to do it for another here who was a waste of my personal writings so "copy and paste" for them and now for you was apt.

Could you do yourself a favour and define traumatology and what it entails. Then you can do same for Traumatologist.

Bma now takes precedence over Royal College of Surgeons in surgical matters? Interesting.

As for traumatology in the UK,
Training for trauma surgeons is sometimes difficult to obtain. In the United Kingdom, the Royal College of Surgeons of England is responsible for training consultants via the Definitive Surgical Trauma Skills course (DSTS) for Orthopaedics. It remains the only course of its kind in the United Kingdom
As you can see, traumatology and Orthopedics are together.

So far I have been the only one who declared I am an emergency medical specialist with emphasis on traumatology which gives a license to be a traumatologist and a trauma surgeon which I have been for 9 years. 3 years In an emergency hospital and my desire to do more made me enrol for field service in EMT as a paramedic of which I have been one for 6 years.

What is your medical specialty Dr Quack fish?

At the bold text, I got it and I am glad I did and am one. You said trauma and orthopaedics are together. Can you point out where I said they were not?

Be honest when you read and not just to oppose me. Under General surgery you hold the power to choose your sub. based on your field of focus.

This is why I was advised to dump you in your ignorant bliss. A certain hopefullandlord ID has been down this road you are on and during that discussion I broke it down for him to understand my transition and why.

I also revealed why I preferred the field to the restrictions of a hospital space. Ignorance does indeed make people say words like "crap".

Are you now claiming to be a military Surgeon? Should we add that to your list?
The specialty includes military surgeons, who will be trained with a particular focus on trauma and emergency surgery.
I don't know what training you got honey, but you're not a traumatologist, for you to be one, you'll either have to be a military Surgeon or an orthopedic.
Besides, what sort of trauma surgeon/General Surgeon is registered with BAAPS? the body for plastic surgeons in the u.k?

Sorry I could help it cheesy. Trauma surgeon cum paramedic?

And didn't you realise you would be restricted to a ' hospital space' during the course of ur career. What do you think the foundation years are for?

Doctors who don't like hospital spaces usually become community doctors.

This is too ridiculous sorry.

Why are you hurt that I am who I am out of sheer hard work and grit? Do I intimidate you? All you have been doing lately has been all over what I do.

Do you even realise that before any attempt is made to be a plastic surgeon one has to first be a general surgeon?

UK isn't Nigeria so you need to stick with your place. I worked hard to be who I am and all deliberately done to fit into my field of focus but alas in all it has never been as gratifying as what I am doing now and all for the sake of Jesus and my "mobile intensive prayer unit" team (we are already building a network).

Poke all you want but it wouldn't alter who I am and what I do.

Yep you seem to know more about my personal experiences and reasons behind my decisions in my chosen career than I do. How is this so?

I never said I did not like hospital spaces. Maybe you need a recap on all my comments and locate where I gave my reasons as I am not ready to help your self injected ignorance by repeating them here.

The funny part is that you never ask questions first. You shoot first then ask questions later and you think it's normal? Before you speak learn to have your wit, and facts about people and do not just "speak".

Me? Hurt? For what?
Your specialty has been all over the place, so, I'm trying to get a clear picture.
And for clarity sake. Plastic surgery is not a sub specialty of General surgery. It's a different residency program on its own as per RCS website, but I'm sure you'll bring BMA website.

Word of advice: UK isn't Nigeria. Study here first then speak with authority.

I have never spoken about Nigerian standards because I know nothing about it being that I studied here.

All you hecklers here do have illusions of being people who must be answered to.

So you remember that you studied in the UK now? But you couldn't inhibit urself from picking apart Catfish's Nigerian standardised certificate when he posted it a while back? But now you claim to know nothing?

What a clown you are. One can only just laugh at you.

spacetacular:
He now went on to talk about his licenses and then put up a supposed licence from the Nigerian medical and dentists council. I may be British but i still have some African roots left so when i saw his supposed license common sense told me to do a comparison with other medical licenses from the MDCN and attached is what i found.

I will leave the reader to carry out their own comparison and draw their own conclusion. I will not influence any observation but would only ask that you look at the following

1. Paper design

2. Designs on the edges of both licenses

3. Positioning of names of license holders (No medical certificate or license would have your name in a tiny column. Its always boldly displayed for all to see because medicine is a noble profession and every medical practitioner is proud to be associated with it.

4. Check which of the two licenses has the seal of MDCN on it

5. Check the positioning of the embosed MDCN print in the middle of the paper on both licenses

6. Every true MDCN license is written as MEDICAL & DENTAL COUNCIL OF NIGERIA and not MEDICAL AND DENTAL COUNCIL OF NIGERIA

7. All MDCN licenses are written with the same lettering as all they do is reproduction. I suggest the lettering be checked as well

When done then you can honestly draw your conclusion.

This is all i have to say so i leave the rest to you.
