You Just echoed my mind there. It's sad losing a life worse off a child. Seeking for justice is one thing but if actually there were errors in the management of the deceased child it will help to save the life of another child or patient in similar condition. However, it will not bring back the child's life. The mother was just too carefree with her child's life, instead she was busy noting all her claimed hospital lapses as if she knew it was going to end like this so she will have enough evidence to make a case as it has tragically happened.

If she wasn't happy with the management of the child then for Godsake demand for an urgent transfer somewhere else she would have been comfortable with.

The way I see it, it's a coroner's case so an autopsy should be ordered to determine the cause of death and an inquiry over the management of the child should be setup to investigate....simple!

fantastic observation and conclusion. # doff my hat

It is a pity that you gambled with the young boy's life, I am more saddened by your action than the negligence of the hospital. You had a choice to find a better alternative, instead your were busy taking pictures of the dying boy and the hospital equipment.Which justice do you seek, and from whom do you expect the justice to come from. As parents,we should realize when we are at fault, you owe the boy a serious apology even in His death. You did not do anything to save the life of that young man, leave the hospital and the doctors alone, even the government owed hospitals are in shambles, otherwise, your president wouldnt have been out of this country recieving treatment

We Nigerians still believe we have doctors in this country. If we have any,why will forme president Buhari will be taken to abroad for medical treatment. All we have now is doctors that open google before they can treat malaria.
The best is to pray u dont fall sick in this country because if u are sick,u are OYO.We only rely on God's power to do the treatment not doctors with trial an error. most private hospital in Lagos state no be hospital. They are matuaries. Have thyphord and they will diagnose malaria for u.God is our doctor not someone that scored high mare in jamb because of expo.
Next time pray to God to direct your footstep to the right place.

Sorry for your loss. The burden of a lost child is definitely heavy, especially if it caould have been prevented.

Every case of a preventable death is sad.

However, Doctors and Nurses actually have no power over life or death regardless of how diligent they may be. A lot of Doctors have the pride that they actually have control but they don't. Please note that I am not excusing the lapses that you described.

A lot of Doctors anywhere in the world are not trained in the art of connecting faulty equipment. Hospitals that have certain equipment should be mandated to have people who can work those equipment on staff, or should train their Doctors in the use of the said equipment.

They problem is a systematic failure and the hospital clearly is not well equipped to be regarded as such just like a lot of other hospitals in Nigeria (even our so called Tertiary health/teaching hospitals). And this problem stretches across the health industry in Nigeria. Healthcare is not properly funded or regulated. Just like everything else e.g. schools, roads, universities.

Nigerians do not have a lot of options when it comes to a lot of things and we always manage what we have and suffer. We manage our hospitals, bad roads, no water, no light. etc.

A lot of hospitals should be downgraded to clinics etc. But if all of this is enforced, how will Nigerians get healthcare.

Doctors and Nurses should take the lead in this reform but unfortunately, they are as helpless as every Nigerian on the street.

Our leaders are not listening and they will take their family to better developed countries. The only weapon Nigerians have is to strike and it never works because people suffer and the blame goes back to the healthcare workers.

Firstly, RIP to the young boy, Tobi. May you find rest at the bosom of the Lord
Secondly, this is an incomplete story. My question is, what brought Tobi to the hospital?
before a CT scan can be requested on a patient, it must be something serious
However, the doctors should have been ready for the next line of action before the arrival of the CT scan result
especially when the patience's life is threatened.

Really sad. RIP Tobi.

My Dad was once terribly ill, I rushed down to the hospital and upon getting there, it was a quack hospital, I just requested for the best hospital around and moved in there for proper treatment. Had i not taken that decision in good time, it probably would have been a different story.

Just may be a little more decisiveness would have changed this story, just may be...

This was heartbreaking and sad occurrence.
My heart and prayers are with the Bakare's family.
May the Lord comfort you.
However, the Management and Staff of Duro Soleye Hospital has to be adequately sanctioned by the appropriate institution and regulators.
Some of our Hospitals/Clinics are not only mushrooms but are run by quacks and insensitive care givers.

I lost my dear son Kelvin same manner at Eko Hospital. This is the most painful of all pains. If not for God, I could have wasted the lives of those that were responsible, but for God who reign supreme, I left everything for HIM. Kelvin, Rest in peace my dear son, will see you very soon son. Omo oyi oyi, oyi ebegigun showu, I wished I could replace your life with mine.
Take heart madam and don't go to court please, they will lie on the dead boy and that will most hurt you with broken heart in the process.

The truth is Nigerian Dr are very careless and don't value human life they are more concerned about money, same goes to the nurses, have we ever wonder y most of the elite go abroad for medical vacation, one of the reason is negligence on the part of healthcare providers, who place more enphasy on money, why.. ..the answer is sisimple..

Pressure?

There was no oxygen in the tank.

Oxygen in such a tank is highly compressed.

The set up cannot contain oxygen.

Nigerian doctors are scammers and uneducated. Forget all the rubbish they read in school they don't have experience at all they just want your money. My younger brother got sick in school and was diagnosed of HBP, a boy of 21. He was administered some drugs, injections and drip intravenously but wasn't getting any better. 3 days later by midnight he started vomiting about 8 times all through the night. By morning i received a call from his class mates that the nurse who is giving him HBP drugs and injections want to admit him to the hospital. My mind cut I told them I was coming to school to take him, no one should take him anywhere, the nurse insisted it was dangerous blah blah blah.. I asked her to give him ORT till I come. I came over and took him to a doctor friend of mine who told me he had Maleria hence the rise in BP, secondly they were giving him conflicting dosages of drugs which caused him to vomit all through that night. My Lil brother was giving just Maleria drugs and some other drugs for BP and blood but instructed to finish the Maleria medicine first. The next day he was completely fine and returned to school 2 days later. Am so sorry about Toby but If only you understand the incompetence level of Nigerian Hospitals and the red flags you won't let them even touch your son. If I saw an oxygen tank like that in a hospital my son will be admitted Am Off in a second because it's a red flag the management and doctors their are clueless. Take hear madam.

Negligence on the part of the mother caused the boy life, after 2hrs in the hospital the mother ought to have deduct the kind of hospital her son got admitted into

As at today, i can never take my enemy to Duro Soloye hospital, the hospital lost her glory long time ago because of bad management from the medical director ,the useless man at one time had a permanent suit in Sheraton hotels carrying one Nike yeyebrity up-and-down

This woman did not fight enough to save his son life, what a pity
