I actually feel for people who steal food to eat... Don't know why. Steal money and any other thing, I'd laugh or get upset but when you steal food, I'd feel sorry for you.

But Proverbs 6:30 King James version says:_
"Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;"

Why beat the living daylight out of someone simply because she stole something that is so worthless?

Was told by the elders that if u catch somebody stealing cos of hunger, don't humiliate the person.
Rather, find a way to help the person.
That way,u are saving and equipping one soul and this has a spiral effect.

Sometimes we ought to show compassion because we are humane.
These are the people that will quote the bible and Koran up and down but they can't call over a corn thief and help her become a better human tomorrow. So judgemental in nature. I don't know if this is caused by the level of poverty in the land.
Yet they celebrate politicians and fraudsters everyday.
What a mindset.

How many did she steal? If it's one or two, or a little above, it's hunger. They should have had mercy and even given her extra. But if those are rice bags meant to pack the corn in large quantity, she's a thief. They are wrong to beat her up though.

I wonder why people like jungle justice in this country. We are too savage.

"We no dey carry am go station. U no go see moni to bail am, and na you go give am food"... grin
Nigeria, where the aggrieved party has to pay police to take care of accused.

At least all they did was disgrace her and smack her small... you can hear people calling for moderation (so it's not as if it was a heartless crowd)

OP, 'Ole, Ole Buruku' was like 0.1% of the things said... why you pick only that? 99.9% words were Igbo

Yeah, the way they beat and even kill people for stealing food to eat it's quite savage, but those that steal billions they BOW for.

I really feel sorry for her. Nigerians can be extremely heartless and lack compassion. While pastors are buying private jets the poor around them grow hungry enough to steal. I really don't think God will even stand with them in this. Maybe she also has children she was stealing to feed, did they think of that?

Why beat her up like she robbed a bank... Isn't it obvious that any sane person stealing corn in Naija today is doing that under the influence of hunger? Nigerians! So mouthed and bold, yet they canvt confront those politicians that have robbed their destinies.

Next thing na to find tyre burn her... Killing a fly with a machine gun.

The Lady is hungry, why not scold her and give her food or something...

Naija Sha...

Though stealing is not good, the lady may need help and people should find that out and try to help her instead of what they did to her.

does it not make you think .......if someone can descend so low that she ends up stealing corn.....CORN....my brother the harsh reality is that 70% of the populace are now hungry and desperate..all I see here is a very desperate woman still trying to survive ...I do Not in any way support her crime though.
