Have you ever thought about this:

1. If Jesus wanted us to have no "affiliation" why would he talk about building his church (Matthew 16.18a)?
2. Also, if he did not want it to last why would he add that the gates of hell will not prevail against it (Matthew 16.18b)?
3. If Jesus wasn't serious about organizing his church why would he add that whoever does not gather with me scatters (Matthew 12.30b)?

I know that there is a lot of hypocrisy these days, but that is not an excuse for having no "affiliation". If the first disciples had thought the way you did, then, there would be no bible in the form that you now have it. Remember Paul laboured so much to "organize" his congregation and he certainly wanted anyone who bears the title "Christian" to have affiliation.

You may say the bible is your final authority. Sure. But the bible itself never makes such a claim for itself. But it does make that claim for the Church as being the final authority.
"if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth" (1 Timothy 3.15)

Hypocrisy abounds, but one must not let his heart be let down. As the saying goes, "hang in there buddy", for Christ has said, "fear not, be of good cheer. I have overcome the world (John 16.33)."

God is too wise to not entrust something as important as the gospel message to capable hands.

I would correct you. There are deeper meaning, not hidden meaning. It is open for all to see. No shady stuff. Mass is said in the open the world over and all see what is happening.

I grew there too but with time I got to know that most of their practices doesn't tally with the scriptures intact it's against it. I love the Catholic Church but their practices scares me each time I visit there.
