Its really been on my mind for some days now.. .i do have friends who am nothing like.. .so nlanders what do you thimk.. .Does this saying apply to you?

You don't necessarily have to be exactly alike but you share similar inclinations.
If they drink or womanize or club a lot, chances are you share one or more together, otherwise you're clearly not friends, just acquaintances.

I think the saying isn't totally true to an extent, it's relative. I for one, don't believe any human has any negative influence in me if I don't allow it to take effect. Have once been around someone people condemn as a bad girl so to say but there were things about her I liked, and her bad activities never influenced me 'cause I never clubed nor tasted cigarette while in company of her.

If you're nothing like them chances are you aren't friends perse but I get your point, there're still considered friends one way or the order .

Friendship has different meaning to different people so only you know where you stand.

For exampl, some women call themselves my friends behind my back maybe to them because we wave each other at functions or kids school parking lot we're friends but really deep down in my gut don't want them in my life for whatever reason and only doing so to be polite.

So that saying is contextual.

There are friends and there are acquaintances. You can't be friends with someone you have nothing in common with. After all, friendship is formed through common interests. If you are a sheep, you cannot feel comfortable being in a pig's pen and If you feel comfortable in a pig pen, then it is probably because you are a pig.

It is simply what you've rightly called it, "a saying". Though quite a good one, but it is more of an assumption than fact.

am in the same situation too.. .my friends and i share some interests...but the ones i don't like.. I don't do with them...

Being friends does not mean u have to have the same interests. ..it not a romantic relationship.. .just saying that as long as we have some interests...we can be friends.. .
