Hello Ndawe. The answer should be "no." This question refers to when a person is given a valid visa and it is subsequently taken away, usually due to some malfeasance or improper use. This is shown physically with the CANCELLED stamp. Cancelled Without Prejudice (CWOP) just means that the old visa is expired.

Ndawe:
Good morning VO I'm currently reviewing my DS-160 form in preparation for submission and there's a question which asks if your U.S Visa has ever been cancelled or revoked? Now, after I renewed, one of my previous B1/B2 visas was stamped with "cancelled without prejudice" upon its expiration and subsequent renewal. So which is the appropriate answer to the question now, do I answer no cancellation or yes cancelled without prejudice and explain in the box provided?
cc: abujaniv
Thanks

Hello Eliza12345. When you post to this thread, you are not talking to a "house." You are directing questions to Consular Officers of the US Embassy/Consulate. Demonstrate your student bonafides by reading through this thread, then come back with informed questions.

Thanks for the response,

Now that my Dad traveled and not around to issue instruction to bank, what do I do? we initially thought there will not be need to go along with another statement. If I tell the VO that I didn't come with any since we have sent to school, will that affect my chance? could it lead to denial or at worst another date to present that?

Thanks much

abujaniv:
Hello Jamezy4u. It is quite likely the visa officer will ask to see proof of the funds to pay for your education.

Hello Ma/sir...i posted a question and I got a reply from the admin and am sorry about that but my answer wasn't answered..and I don't feel welcome...that was my first time of messaging....My question is **am a graduate of IT,I studied in India and I back home to process a US visa to study (liberal art and science)..Which is far different from my degree course..Secondly the admission I got was of associate degree....What do you advise me to say when the question comes up...tnx
Re: U.S. Student Visa (F1, M1, & J1) Forum - We're Listening by abujaniv: 10:10pm On Jul 04, 2017
If the decision hangs upon seeing evidence of the proof of funds, the case can be put on hold (221g status) until the evidence is provided.

You were not answered by an admin; you were answered by me. Again, I'll advise that you read comprehensively through this thread. Also, your post is difficult to read and understand. Success at a US school will require improved English communication skills.

Hello VO
I was accepted into a school without taking a Toefl or IELTS test ( I presented a note from my high school demonstrating profeciency in English ). Will this affect my interview in anyway? Will the officer insist on seeing a TOEFL score?

Hello Champ10n. We leave the test requirements to the schools themselves.

hello team, well done for the good work.

please is age going to affect a F1 visa during interview?

Also if there is a long gap of like 9years between finishing WAEC and application to a college in the US...what are the chances of getting a visa?
Re: U.S. Student Visa (F1, M1, & J1) Forum - We're Listening by abujaniv: 2:56pm On Jul 07, 2017
Hello djpope. I see that you've already gone through these inquiries on another thread, and that you seem to be casting about for "whats the best answer." If you are considering any answers besides the complete truth, I advise you to abandon your US education plans altogether. We do not discuss "chances" here--this is not gambling.

Hello nedum360,

We are able to look at and verify foreign bank documents, but be advised to all people on this forum, bank documents are NOT required for an F1 visa. The officer may ask for them but they are not required and 95% of the time, the officer will NOT look at documents except the I-20 and the SEVIS receipt.

Regards,
Student Visa Team

Hi,

What if a visa officer requests and one doesnt have it (since its not a requirement), does this hamper one's chance of approval

Do I need a BTA to travel as a student?
What are they requirements after getting a student visa and at the point of entry.?

Hello sshola. It is now common for visa officers to request bank documents and transcripts/WAEC. If the applicant doesn't have one --or any other documentary evidence that may be requested-- the application can be put on hold (221g status) until the documents are presented.

Hello Awaino1214. I assume you mean "basic travel allowance." This is not a feature of US immigration law. However, travelers and students are expected to be able to fund their stay in the US. There is no set amount, but if you show up at the border and tell CBP that you're coming for a month and you have only $17 and no credit cards, you may be subject to some thorough questioning of how you will pay for your food and housing.

apologies...in fact i want the complete truth. the thing is i had already ventured into it before coming across the nairaland threads and nobody said anything about the VO and their inquisitiveness. they made it sound like getting the i-20 was the hardest part. now i have the 1-20 and i'm really bothered about the embassy interview ( denial no be easy thing o)

what do you advise having in mind that i already paid about $1200 for the whole process of getting the 1-20 so i just have to forge ahead.

i'm sure i'm not the first person to be in this scenario so i really need your help on how to go about it.

Thank you.
Re: U.S. Student Visa (F1, M1, & J1) Forum - We're Listening by abujaniv: 10:30am On Jul 08, 2017
The qualifications for a student visa are pretty simple: that you are a bonafide student and able to pay for your tuition and living expenses. There are, unfortunately, some applicants who see the student visa as simply a means to get into the US, and are therefore not bonafide students. Visa officers see through their intentions relatively quickly. The finances are another matter. Education and living expenses in the US escalate quickly. Even at a cheap school, it will cost around $20,000 a year, and possibly a lot more. Multiply that by four for an undergraduate degree. So your $1,200 spent is just a drop in the bucket. Going to school in the US is a huge investment of time and money. It has to make educational and economic sense, and that is what you have to demonstrate to the visa officer.

Thank you for your prompt response. I sure will present them but needed that explanation. Now I know about 221g, never heard of that, and I am sure half of those reading too haven't. Cheers

Dear abujaniv,

During my interview, my visa was approved. Days after i got an email from the consulate with 221(g) attached and my bank statement was requested. I received some sort of funding, can i submit the bankstatement along with the proof of funding? The funding came after my i-20 had arrived. Thank you in anticipation

Hello Energgyyy. Your application will not be completed and the visa will not be issued as long as it is in 221g status. You are required to present the documents asked for to complete the process.

Dear V.O,

I hope this post meets you well.

I attended an interview for f1 visa at the embassy. My application was approved and I was handed the white paper containing pick up locations.

My visa status on ceac website indicates "issued" since July 3rd. I have not received any notification for my passport pick up yet; I received an email to submit some documents. I need your insight on this as this occurence have been puzzling me.

Goodmorning, I'd like to ask some questions;

I am a single mother due to circumstances and my baby has a different surname as me and I want to apply for a student visa next month via Kaplan. What are the possibilities of getting an approved visa with a 4month old?

Another question; I applied for a b1/b2 visa last month and got denied. An agent applied for me. But now I know better. Would that affect anything? Thanks.
