After Chi Onwurah, Member of Parliament for Newcastle Central was notified of President Buhari's Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri Erewa's infamous congratulatory message, the Labour Party Politician has declared that she is not a Nigerian but British.

Chi Onwurah, made this known during the 2017 Caine Prize for African Literature ceremony held yesterday night in London.

Here's Nigerian journalist and writer, Molara Wood tweet;

Recall that Dabiri Erewa in her congratulatory letter addressed to the Chinyelu Onwurah and 6 other British-Nigerians elected to the UK parliament, claimed that their "electoral victory shows that Nigerians excel anywhere in the world."

Go and read the story of Dehinde Fernandez, he is passed now. A man that served as diplomat and official for different foreign governments but yet proud of his roots.


So whats the big deal of Onwura being a member of British Parliament? She doesnt need to diss congratulatory message from Nigeria. She is a leader of society and leaders are calculating and tactful in diplomatic relations, not arrogant and dissmisive. C'mon!

Nothing wrong with her statement if she renounced her citezenship. If she didn't her statement is factually untrue. Maybe she doesn't even have Nigerian passport who knows.

We all have one life, she decided to live her's God willing in one of the best countries, if we have decided to spend ours here either my decision or condition and have failed to get ours right, why associate her with our failed system when obviously she made her choice.
