I always tell all on social media not to be claiming people as Nigerians becuase they have Nigerian names or parents are from Nigeria or they ever lived in Nigeria or visited Nigeria. Its so wrong. An insult and a defamation of character that can lead them to sue. What makes someone a Nigerian or British or American? PASSPORT!!

If I have ripped , shredded my Nigerian passport pls pls plsssssssssssss dont call me Nigerian. Very wrong. The UK terrorist who struck at the parliament this year killing a policeman, his real name was blaah blajhh blahh Ajao before he changed it to a muslim name. The British press did not say he is Nigerian and strangely enough the Nigerian media didnt claim him but we all know Ajao is Nigerian. But is he Nigerian ? NO!!

During the depression of the 1930s, Onwurah’s maternal grandfather was a sheet metal worker in Tyneside shipyards. Her mother grew up in poverty in Garth Heads on Newcastle’s quayside. Her father, from Nigeria, was working as a dentist while he studied at Newcastle University Medical School when they met and married in the 1950s.[citation needed]

After Onwurah was born in Wallsend, Newcastle upon Tyne, in 1965, her family moved to Awka, Nigeria, while she was still a baby. Just two years later the Biafra War broke out, bringing famine with it, forcing her mother to bring the children back to Newcastle, while her father stayed on in the Biafran army.[6]

Onwurah graduated from Imperial College London in 1987 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.[7] She worked in hardware and software development, product management, market development and strategy for a variety of mainly private sector companies in a number of different countries – Britain, France, US, Nigeria and Denmark while studying for an MBA at Manchester Business School.[citation needed]

Prior to becoming an MP, Onwurah was Head of Telecoms Technology at OFCOM, with a focus on broadband provision.

Our bloggers should learn from this. When a Nigerian who is a citizen of a foreign country vomit a crime, he shouldn't be refered to as a Nigerian, even if media call him out to be a Nigerian, we should all call them out on it.
