You can do your game hunting either way. Here in Nigeria, we roast cows, rams and other animals with wool before gutting them. It is easier that ways plus smoke don't get into the animal which can alter the taste of the animal.

I do believe I spy a sporterized SMLE (No4 Mk??).... one of my favorite guns to hunt with.

I inherited a pair of Sauer 404's... in .243 and .30-06

Hunting just isnt the same when you are constantly hyper-paranoid about damaging your gun... I miss my old beat-to-shit SMLE which was sporterized in a farm workshop... with its 20 year old scope that has held its zero despite falling off the back of a bakkie. Best gun I have ever owned, hands down.

People who do that know nothing about hunting......go look at how the Bushmen prepare their meat.....they always gut it before placing it on the fire.....regardless if they skin the animal for its hide or not!!

And BTW I hunted my first animal at the age of 7 and been hunting every year ever since.......that would make me much more knowledgeable than someone who has never even seen a hunting rifle in real life!!
