Chapter 12.

As usual, Nate walked into the office looking cute in his black suit, silk white shirt and his well knotted black tie, ignoring everyone's greeting including the female staffs who were all drooling over him.

Looking like the Nigerian version of Majid Michael but without the beards, he walked on, looking forward to just one person's greeting.

He got to her office and was suprised to find it empty.

''Why is she not here?'' he asked the P.A who has been following him but whom he totally ignored.

''Sir, that's what I've been trying to tell you, she dropped her resignation letter this morning, with Mrs. Edna, the chief accountant''

''Wait...wait...wait, you mean, Miss Jane, my secetary resigned'' he asked again, just to be sure.

''Yes sir, she did'' The P.A replied with a frown, he liked her as a friend and she was already warming up to him.

''You mean she quit as in, quit her job?'' he asked for the third time and his P.A looked up at him just to be sure that he was alright, he has never shown this much concern over any staff before.

''Yes sir, she did'' he confirmed.

Filled with disappointment, he breathed out ''What happened''

''According to Mrs Edna, she came in looking unusual'' when Nate gave him a questioning look, he quickly added ''As in sad''

''Did she say her reason for quitting the Job?'' Nate asked, hoping that she didn't quit because of their regular cat and mouse fight.

''No she didn't'' The P.A replied and he was relieved to an extent.

''It's alright, give me the letter''

He handed the letter over to Nate and he collected and walked off, eager to get to his office and read the content of the letter.

The first thing he did as soon as he got into his office was to tear open the envelope which had ''Resignation letter' boldy written on it.

The body of the letter was clear and simple.

''Sir, I am resigning due to personal problems, thanks for your understanding, It was fun working with you and please forgive me for all the rude words''

Yeah! The rude words, that was what he liked most about her.

Taking a deep breath, he threw the letter into the Trash can and walked over to his seat.

He sat down confused and terribly pained with the realization that he has just lost someone very dear to him, even though it was just a short time but the pain was there and he wasn't a fool not to notice how much he missed her already.

Ken was shaky and restless as he sat in his office, he kept thinking about his wife and his unborn baby, how is she doing? What is she doing? Where is she?

Just then a distracting beep came from the intercom.

''Tessy what'' He snapped.

''Sir, someone is...

''Wasn't it clear to you when I said, I don't want to see anybody for the next few weeks, cancel every appointments'' he shouted.

''Sir, this one is important, he said your wife sent him''

Without a second thought, he said ''Let him in''

''Yes sir'' she replied and disconnected.

He stood up nervously, his heartbeat loud enough to be heard by anyone standing close to him.

''Who did Vicky send to me?'' he asked himself.

He didn't wait for long to know who, because in less than 3 minutes Tessy walked in with a dark-skinned man, with a not-so friendly face.

''Good Morning Mr. Kennedy'' the man greeted.

''Good morning'' he replied and said to Tessy 'you can go''

she nodded and left.

''I'm Barrister Edwin Etomi''

Ken nodded, the reason for the visit already dawning on him.

''So, you are?'' Ken asked gesturizing towards the chair opposite his, while he also went and sank down in his.

The lawyer nodded and sat down ''I'm your Ex-wife's lawyer'' he replied smiling.

''My wife'' Ken corrected waving a pen at him.

The lawyer shook his head with a slight smile ''Well, I brought this for you'' He said bringing out papers from his suitcase and placed it on the desk, before Ken.

One didn't even need a pair of glass to see the word ''Divorce'' boldly written on it.

''What?'' Ken asked praying for it to be his eyes playing pranks on him.

''Well, Mr Kennedy, It's been exactly 6 days since my client left or rather moved out of your house and from the moment she moved out of your house, she cease to be your wife'' The lawyer said calmly.

''Tell my wife I want to see her first'' Ken asked through gritted teeth with his head bowed.

''I'm sorry sir but my client doesn't want that''

''What the hell?'' he shouted and pounded his hand hard on the wooden desk.

''Just sign the papers and everything will be over'' The lawyer replied before raising up.

Ken also rose up ''I'm not signing those stupid papers'' he said pointing to the papers which laid scattered on his desk.

''The earlier the better'' The lawyer said.

''okay'' Ken nodded smiling.

He picked the papers, tore it and threw the piece on the floor.

''There are more where that came from'' the lawyers said softly.

''Now, get the hell out of my office'' Ken barked ''And don't come back again or I will be forced to commit murder''

Exactly what I wanted to say,Vicky saw the warning sign but chose to ignore it,you can't change a man, I came out of such relationship recently, the guy has all the bad behavior in this life,we love each other but I have tried and seen that I can't change him and it will affect me later in life, we planned getting married but I have to run before it gets too late, I have to let that love die....to all the ladies out there DO NOT IGNORE THE WARNING SIGN

Bless you sis, there's no such thing like "I will change him" he would only change if he has a conviction of heart. If he wants to change from his heart, if he sees reasons to change. If not, that change we think we achieved is just for a limited time before such guys go back to who they really are.
