The useless Rooivalk with useless avionics still needs France's permission before it can be bought.

Self deceiving country.

You're trying hard to ignore the fact that the UN chose the Rooivalk over the Hind.

You're stuck with that ugly fat thing because Congress denied you a real attack helicopter.

I'm laughing in Igbo again.

Look and observe how a dedicated attack helicopter looks like.... Something you may never see because Congress keeps blocking your purchases.

Behold, a real attack helicopter.

So Nigeria got the Hind because :

- America don't want you close to their technology, even if it's decades old hand-me-downs from Jordan.

- You're too poor to afford sophisticated Russian attack helicopters like the Havoc and the Black Shark.

So you turned to the fat ugly rejection called the Hind not even the UN wants any more.

Before this choice was made, ship house Abuja directed Nigerian military officers to inspect those South African Roovalik helicopters and it was reported back as inferior technology to the latest Russian alternative mi-35m. Why the anger, it is Nigeria's money, we spent the $360 million on the best, must we buy inferior Roovalk for $360 million?

FCT Ministry of defense on behalf of NAF is spending something around $30 million on each one of mi-35m hinde helicopters, package includes all the latest advanced Russian stuff like guiding missiles, day night television to find even a tiny human being many miles away, any standard army will be bursted with guiding missiles. Stop your meaningless argument, UN cannot afford even one, talk less of a dozen NAF mi-35m that are as sophisticated as anything Russian air force uses today in 2017. Those are terms of the contract minister Dan Ali signed in Russia as demanded by CAS Air Marshal Abubakar who insisted on equal standard with Russian air force war helicopters. No Black African country has 2017 stuff from a super power loaded on any war helicopter, only Nigeria, I repeat, 2017 level of technology. Stop choking with envy, go back to posting photos.

The bottom line is Mi35m have been used in operation while Rooivalk is still escorting food.

This is true, even the honest South-Africans here can confirm it, i can also post a link in this regard.

The Rooivalk was demonstrated to Nigerian and Polish delegations and we found it to be very inadequate and grossly inferior. Hence we went for the MI-35m.

When you meet who face-to-face? You think this is the 19th century spear wars?

In a military clash against South Africa you would be flattened by Gripens, Hawks and Rooivalks before the mechanized and motorised rolls over whatever is left of you.

This is the 21st century, get on with the times.

And if Nigeria had found Rooivalk to be superior, would you even have one by now? Just one. Setting up production line, re-tooling, etc those things would still be happening. Nigeria never came to SA for any immediate helicopter needs. Its was never MI-35 vs Rooivalk. You know this. But oh well...carry on

patches689:

Actually, those Rooivalks in your picture were selected from amongst the UN arsenal (that included Hind's) to escort UN top Brass around the operational area.

UN top brass and admin's trust the Rooivalk with their lives, pity I cant say the same about the Hind.

But here, have some facts abut the Rooivalk in the DRC:

- Lieutenant Colonel Danie Bellingan, OC of 16 Squadron, said the Rooivalk is highly respected in the DRC as it is an effective and well utilised weapon, being preferential to the Mi-24 attack helicopters there.

-The three Rooivalk attack helicopters deployed to the DRC since the end of October 2013 have flown around 1 500 hours and taken part in more than two dozen combat air support missions, including several at night.

- Around 80% of Rooivalk missions in the DRC are intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR), especially reconnaissance of high threat areas where UN aircraft were previously reluctant to operate. Other common missions for the Rooivalk are convoy escort and aircraft escort – Belligan said convoys are never attacked when they are escorted by Rooivalks.

-Bellingan said that with the Rooivalk’s Night Owl main sight the United Nations for the first time had a night operations capability due to the thermal imaging camera, but Rooivalk pilots also fly with night vision goggles at night.

-The Rooivalk is better regarded in the DRC than the other attack helicopter in service with the UN, the Mi-24, partly as a result of pilot training and partly because of the Rooivalk’s superior range and endurance. Rooivalks usually attack a target first, followed by Mi-24s after a target has been marked Bellingan said the Mi-24 crews regularly ask South African pilots for advice, which means “we are doing something right. It’s quite a feather in the cap for us.” He said Mi-8 helicopters request to be escorted specifically by the Rooivalk.

Further:

-2016 was the busiest year for the Rooivalk in terms of combat, with the three aircraft deployed to the United Nations mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Monusco) firing 1 200 70 mm rockets and 11 000 rounds of 20 mm ammunition

-An idea of how busy the aircraft were last year comes from the last two weeks of December 2016, when Rooivalks engaged in combat eight times, mostly against ADF rebels in the region of Beni in the eastern DRC.

-Since 2016, Rooivalks have been self-deploying with drop tanks instead of being transferred by Il-76 transport aircraft, which necessitates partially disassembling the airframes.

There, you have all the facts.

Please, lest have a constructive and informed debate. We have here the oppertunity to learn from one another. Take it.

Bottom line is that you are now a liar.

Why would you just ignore information when provided?

Post a link and prove it.

Because what you are saying completely lacks factual basis and even fails when one applies simple logic to the known facts.

The known facts are that you wanted a dedicated attack helicopter, but could not afford it, so you went after second hand Cobra's... when the US turned you down, you had to settle for Hind's
