It is not a crime to have money but not making the right choices with the money can be crime.

Frankly weather you are rich in Nigeria or poor, when the real issues that money cant solve comes in, the only way out is proper planning and a leaving in a developed country where people dont just do things without common sense.

I think because we dont have main weather issues besides this rains the government dont still see the need to take the bull by the horn.

Imagine upon this rain we have temperatures reaching like -2degrees

Nobody will tell us how to solve this and make sure power is stable.

Basic amenities now is a luxury in Nigeria and that my friend is a FUNDAMENTAL problem that we need to go to the ROOTS to fix.

I cannot understand Nigerians, is it a crime to be ok, or rich? now the people who are maybe poor, are making fun of a national disaster, why

maybe not ajegunle Sha, but living in Obalende, orile, yaba is by far better than living in lekki "right now"

I feel like crying yesterday when a friend of mine posted this picture on Facebook. And I keep on asking myself this question: Is it a crime to have money now or to be living in Lekki? I pray God almighty will heal heart of does that this flood affected.

I have told a close relative who has property around that area: Land in the Lekki axis will end up being worthless, and this will probably happen in our lifetimes! With the severity of the looming challenges of climate change (rapidly-rising sea levels top on the list), I still do not understand why Nigeria is dumping so much wealth in a low-lying peninsula. Perhaps, I'm getting the geography all wrong?

If you know someone close to you who is investing heavily in that area (ahem, Lagos State Gov), tell them: time will come when people will give out their Lekki land for free.

When they were carrying out Land reclamation and sand-filling, pursing lagoon, we warned them, but being controlling by their ill-gotten money. See the result now, a sitting turned swimming pool. Let them continue buying land and building houses in Banana Island, Lekki etc, they will soon know that what is behind number six is more ordinary number seven. Sebi you want to separate yourself from the masses, I pity you all!
Do need to remember that man's activity which you are also guilty of is what corroded the earth's land mass so it wouldn't be out of place to fill back, but a robust draining system has to be designed to minimize the impact!

Wow. This is serious. I didn't know the extent of flooding lekki people are experiencing. Thanks to these pictures. My heartfelt sympathy. There should be provision for water ways when land is reclaimed. I am imaging the effect this flooding will have on humans, buildings and cars

My advise to those living in Lekki is to relocate o. This is just the beginning of the rains and hell has been let loose. Lekki, Banana Island and VGC are for the big boys, so enjoy your stay there. The rich also cries.

The houses should have been built on higher ground. But remember it's still close to the water. Flooding happens everywhere. However I do feel that a dam, levies, proper drainage and other infrastructure should be put in place to assist in preventing this.

Basically, until the issues affecting us affect those in government, they won't lift a finger.

That's the reality of life in our country.

Why must one waste money to live in such a flood prone area? Trust me it is people like you that are poverty sicken for thinking of living in a high brow area.
it is stricken ok
And I will prefer lekki any day any time to wherever you may be residing right now cos I know it is neither banana island nor v.i and it's definitely not lekki
