If Nigeria is to be restructured, I think.the 36 states have to go but the local.Govts can stay. A referendum should be held in all the local govts to allow them choose which region they want to belong to

There is no such thing as 'Yoruba speaking part of Delta'. Not a single part of the Delta speaks the Yoruba language. The Itsekiri language is slightly tied to the Yoruba language but that does not imply you, as a Yoruba fellow would pick every bit and pieces of the Itsekiri language.

Besides, Itshekiris have identified themselves as the descendants of Odua. They are under the umbrella of Yoruba Afenifere. You wan know? grin

"The meeting is aimed at uniting the mainstream Yoruba people. This task will be achieved greatly if the two Afenifere groups are united. I think the region is coming to realize that they either stand in unity or fall in disunity” Dr Mobolaji Ojo, an official of O’odua National Coalition (ONAC) who is privy to the summit said.

He hinted that the Yoruba leaders expected at the summit will be drawn from Afenifere and the splinter group, Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG). Prominent Yoruba leaders gathered in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, last Thursday to review their stake in Nigeria and came up with a charter of demand in line with their aspirations as common people, BISI OLADELE reports

Representatives of Yoruba in Kwara and Kogi states also made comments while the Itsekiri were represented by Rita-Lori Ogbebor. The Olu of Warri also sent a representative, Chief Sunday Rewane, to the summit as they identified with the Yoruba. Ogbebor said Itsekiri migrated from Ijebu and will continue to identify with the Yoruba who stand tall with right values.
