Nonsense. Obviously I cannot convince you with such level of ignorance. The Benin wall was 20000km in length while the China wall is 8800km.

The wall was destroyed by the British in a punitive expedition in 1874 but parts of it are scattered around Benin till today. So it is not really known to present day journalists because Nigeria has not been able to sell itself to the world.

But historians are very much aware of the great Benin kingdom. There was a Greek trivia I came across recently which went like this;

The longest wall ever built by man is not located in China but where?

A) India B) Nigeria C) Germany.

How many countries did this Benin moat surrounding the Bini empire span? Because our land and coast borders combined as the entire country called Nigeria isn't up to 7,000km undecided so sofree dey cast yourself a beg embarassed

It is a big shame that Nigeria do not teach history in schools and this present generation are doomed for it, imagine a Nigerian not knowing that Benin city had street lights albeit being lit with palm oil which was the technology of that time when must part of the world was still in darkness, Benin city streets were being swept daily before must cities in world adopted same. As far back as 1485 early Europeans referred to Benin as a city, no where else in Africa has that appellation.
Cairo did, old Carthage did, the ruins of Memphis, cyrenecia, Numidia once did, so I'm guessing you were referring to sub-saharan Africa in which case you forgot Timbuktu the capital of is it the Songhai or ghana empire?

Deny it all you want.
Bury your head in the sand!
Africa has had homosexual Kings in the past, and this story just raises my antenna.
Cultivating young boys (your very title says virgin boys) and men for the King?
Can they say no to the King if he wants to satisfy his unnatural desires on them.
It seems to me like this needs to be properly investigated.
There may be child abuse going on there.
I don't care what happened in the past. Such rubbish should not go on in this day and age.
The catholic church is paying millions now for the same thing.
If catholic priests can do it, I dare say the Oba is not holier than a catholic priest.

From your post:
Meeting an Omueda.
He smiled a lot and even tolerated all of our foolish questions. Let's call him Osaro.
Like why he decided to spend over 11 years of his life in the palace.
“I am proud to serve my kingdom” he said with so much ease.
He wore a light brown sleeveless shirt and matching shorts. Around his neck were tiny white beads, and on his ankles were metal bangles. He hasn't been outside the palace since he signed up 9 years ago.

That sounds like a sex slave to me.

Yeah,it sounds like a sex slave to your twisted and depraved mind! Instead of coming online to run naked, quietly do a better job of hiding your ignorance. The Oba of Benin,an homosexual? Do you even know the traditional punishment and curse for that act alone? If Ayelala visit you, everyone will confirm it. You can insult any traditional king in Nigeria and go free, but I will advise you to consult your ancestors before you plan to join them untimely!

Benin was far ahead of them because the houses and streets were designed based on fractals,a branch of Mathematics which was far advanced than any nation, and was discovered centuries later as the source of their designs because it was a marvel back then. They had street lights powered by palm oil when London was still a pig sty,(the historians' words, not mine).

[quote author=AmoryBlacq post=58311536] One thing I love about the benin Kingdom is their rich cultural heritage

So many other ethnic groups today have their roots to the binis or once being ruled by the binis

Yoruba for instance, no matter how they try to deny it

Benin was the first city visited in Nigeria by the europeans

Ruy de Sequeira 1472

and later Affonso de Aviero 1484

so sad their powers could not withstand the crown firing arms in 1897

long live the great Oba of Benin
[/quotel]

Must you always drag the Yorubas to your bini fables. Can't you enjoy your Idle tales alone

It is very sad now when we see the outcome of the dubious British invasion and amalgamation of North and south protectorates.

As a Benin man, I'm filled with pride when I remember the great Benin empire, the great wall of Benin, recorded as the greatest earth moving work ever constructed by man in Guinness records book. Mind you, it is also the largest running military defensive network ever built by man with a length of 20,000km.

It is ironic that such great people are now grouped along minority lines in the modern day Nigeria.

jst read about it..4times longer than d Great Wall of China!!!
I must say I'm proud and impressed ...Long live the Bini Empire!!! ...
I'm not Benin though..grin
