Kindly advise me on which way to follow. I currently earn 150k per month and I am thinking of enrolling for an MBA in Unilag. My headache is I will have to pick the full time option because it is cheaper and has better lecture hours, which means I have to stop work. Classes are from 9am-2pm weekly. The fee is about 200k.

The koko again is that the fees for part time is about 500k.(I just started earning 150k ooh  and also ponzi finish my money at the beginning of the year. GREED. don't blame me ohh, many people fell victim with me).
The last option is the Executive MBA. Classes are on saturdays from 8pm to 4pm. The fee is about 2Million. I won't even go there.
If I say I should do another Masters course it will have to be a science course which are all full time.
My question is should I take the risk to forfeit my job and do my MBA? The forms are out. I want to prepare my mind before buying the form(N22,500). I really want an upgrade to my certificate. I also need money to keep me going because there is no one to lean on. Everybody is forming OYO. And I also don't want to regret embracing an opportunity now that I have money for fees. U'll understand and believe me later. 2)There are alternative programs even foreign schools both online and weekends not only unilag. 3) You can join those Bold ladies we see who went into UBER, Keke, Bus or Taxi driving TEMPORARILY to fund themselves through school 4) If u must then wait a few months or a year, learn/improve a language or skill within this period, SAVE A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE PROGRAM, then start ur own biz or move into another job that will give little freedom and provide backup during the program i.e (if u r good in physics, chemistry, maths, french u can get a good pay in some big private sec sch or tutorial centre) (blue collar skills set up in a big way like cake making, shawarma, fast food, event planning, nail fixing, hair dressing, fashion design e.t.c wil put you in charge of ur time wyl u study) WHATEVER YOU MAY THINK OF BUT THE ULTIMATE POINT IS "NEVER DROP JOB/SKILL/CAREER FOR CERTIFICATE"!!! |

Pls do no quit your job. Jobs are quite difficult to come bye these days and considering your current earnings which is really comfortable. It was on this forum some few days back that a UK masters degree holder in Law was complaining that an employer offered her 35k as salary. You can imagine. Moreso an MBA does not give you any edge neither will it increase your pay after its acquisition.Fortunately am also in the procurement proffesional. I have a B.sc, M.Sc, M.B.A, C.I.P.S, M.C.I.A, F.C.A.I with over 10 years working experience but the salary isn't commensurate with the qualification and experience gained over the years. For you in the procurement profession I'll just advice you do your professional certification in C.I.P.Sin Nigeria or C.I.P.S UK which can be acquired with little or no stress if you want you globally accepted certification. With that you'll be ok for now while the masters can wait till when you're more comfortable.Your job first I really want to do that CIPS course. u have info about it? |

Did you have good grade in your first degree?
Is your O'level à sitting?
You have not even started saving, learn to save atleast 30% of your income first, then budget on the remaining 70.
Dont live certainty for uncertainty.
What is even the assurance that Unilag will admit you for the masters?
Be wise! Hi, pls shed more light on Unilag MBA requirements. Is it compulsory I have 3 years managerial experience before I can apply for the part time (evening) or there's a way I can make up for that? Thanks |

Don't resign....I don't know what you studied but It is increasingly getting difficult to get jobs these days irrespective of what course you studied.....what is the assurance of job when you complete the masters......Now masters plenty for Nigeria .....my younger brother is keeping his job but doing online masters program....if to say he resign ,what is assurance of another job....think well o..Nigeria hard .. |

I am 29 years old and I studied BSc.Geology. I currently work as a Procurement Specialist. I know that there are professional courses in Supply chain Management but I feel a Masters tops them. Well maybe i will just wait save up and maybe do CIPS There are people who read a related course to what you do at work, have Masters in Supply Chain Magt and earn less than half of what you earn yet, you wanna quit your job for school. |

Sisto, lemme encourage you. I'm currently running my part time degree in UNILAG. Economics  . It's expensive ooo, but I opted for part payment even though they charged me more for it. But it made it easier to pay for me because i'm not earning up to your salary for now.
My dear, in life, one has to make sacrifices of comfort for the time being. I'm currently in my 2nd year and no, it hasn't been easy. It's been God.
Story, story......
Last year, my first year, I had classes 5/6 days a week. Mondays to Wednesdays, 6pm- 8pm, Thursdays- Fridays, 6pm- 9pm, then some random Saturdays. Let me give you a bit of background here, I live in Mowe, work at Ikeja, school at Yaba then back home to Mowe.  The flesh I was gathering disappeared because of that condition (was a size 8,now a 6, trying to get to 10 now)  .
I sometimes got home around past 12am, sometimes to 1am; especially on Camp days.
Why didn't I find somewhere closer to stay? I didn't have female friends that lived close by. I couldn't bring myself to open my mouth and tell my parents I'm moving to man's house cuz of school. 
Like I said, it is God's grace that is keeping me. Now, my lectures are just Tuesdays and Saturdays, so it's much better.
If you can, try and do both, if you are a Christian, ask for grace and strength for the journey.... if you're not, it's a good time to be.

Many youths are really out of sync with the realities of today! Goddamnit! With that money you should be either saving for a professional certification or developing a business idea or do u want to keep battling VI traffic for the next 20 years. When I got my current job my mum I should make sure that in two years, I should have had something serious on ground to fetch me enough income to leave the job. Most people just think dressing classy and joining the traffic queue every morning and Evening is trendy! Not anymore. If you do MBA you will still be at the mercy of other entrepreneurs for job. Try to break free from the job mentality and strive to be your own boss. |

You currently have earning power that cannot be gotten easily, relish your position and concentrate on Professional Qualifications.
As you know, our field (Supply Chain/Procurement) honours specialized knowldege over 'generic' knowledge.
Realize you are blessed (a lot of ppl out der r lookin for my position not to talk of yours) and see Quitting your job as a form of 'Village Bluetooth TELEPHONY'.....MUAH! |

I also found reasons to procastinate like you are about to do and its not worth it. Eventually your current no masters degree position will be obselate. BSc is the new secondary school cert. You can do your Masters without really quitting your Job. Well it is essentially Seminar Presentation based and may not require you relocating to the school full time. Just find away around your job to do it. |

What is the guarantee that the money you have will run a full time program for you?
What is also the guarantee that your part time program won't affect your job?
What is the guarantee that you will get another job if you loose this one?
My advises to you are:
1. Be sure your future is secured before making critical decisions now. If the job you have guarantees you high level of job security, then leaving it for MSc isn't worth it.
2. MSc can't be the only way to upgrade one's self. You can acquire skills on the job and through self study. You can also run professional certification programs and write professional exams.
3. Even when you want to establish a business, you ought to be sure that the business has already began to generate revenues and has began to win over loyal customers before you consider resigning from your job. You may not even need to resign if you have competent hands managing the business and it can stand without your physical presence.
4. There are many MSc. holders out there without job, what will make you stand our from them? That special thing that makes you stand out from them, will become your defining factor.
