My Pastor Always Boasts Of His Wealth And Accomplishments During Every Sermon by tosyne2much(m): 10:48am On Jul 16, 2017
These days, more and more pastors and ministers are boasting in the depth of their finances and in excellency of the number of people they have saved or helped out of difficulties.

I used to have a pastor in my school fellowship who always boasts of his accomplishments. He is too autocratic and likes to be involved in almost everything even though there's need for delegation of power. However, he doesn't even allow we (the EXCOS members) to function since he takes almost all decisions himself. As funny as it sounds, he even features in the affairs of ladies which his wife or sister's coordinator should be responsible for cheesy

When he asks you to lead the prayer or take a message, he will later come to round it off himself no matter how well you passed the message across, making it look like you didn't do it well. It's even appalling that he's the first pastor I will ever see in my life leading Praise and worship on Sunday before handling the microphone over to the person assigned to take it shocked

He does everything to make sure we are envious of his children. Often times, during sermon, he used to give us updates of how his first born has been maintaining his first class since 100l, he talks about how his second born made 9As in WAEC and how his last born is the second best student in her school. Most people that are battling with low self esteem always feel uneasy each time this man says these things.

A sermon cannot be passed across to us without him looking for every little opportunity to talk about how many times he has traveled abroad, how he used a fraction of his salary to build the church, how he bagged his PhD, and how it has earned him respect and recognition in the society.

Though, I wouldn't deny the fact that he's a philanthropist as he sometimes helps financially handicapped students out of ugly situations, but at the end, he will still boast of it on the pulpit even though he might not mention their names. There was even a time he assisted a financial handicapped neighbouring fellowship with the sum of N20, 000 when they needed money for their roofing sheets, and to my dismay, he talked about it during sermon and still talked about the amount he gave them.

He sees you as a threat and makes you look inconsequential when he realizes you have a dept of knowledge more than him since he believes you are just an undergraduate while has a PhD. I could vividly remember a time he silenced me on two different occasions when I made an overwhelming contribution during Sunday

Although, I have nothing against him even though he has offended and failed to apologize due to his overbloated ego, and I have left the fellowship but each time I remember all these things, I always pity those who find themselves under him

I don't know why many of the prosperity gospel teachers are usually boasters. They mouth off about their huge ministry just to reel in the naive. And the last time I checked, Jesus does not have any of these traits.

May God lead us right

Pastors like that will not cease to be on this earth. One have to be careful of which church one worships in.

Some pastors are there to elevate your spiritual life while some are there to bring it down. That's why I don't attach myself to pastors of any church I attend.. I study my Bible privately, organize prayers for myself, I don't need a pastor to tell me when to fast.

I came into this world alone and I will give account of my earthly works alone.

There are only a handful of pastors who are humble in the real sense of the word. Many fake humility just for people to say "That our pastor is so humble" .
Like the great Chinua Achebe one said in his book: A MAN OF HIS PEOPLE " ...what is humility but inverted pride".
Many would even boast of how their members moves from so and so church from pastor to pastor until they eventually came to them before they received healing or miracles.
We can exhaust a whole year talking about Pastors.
Just find a good church and keep the faith alive.

Tosyne, it's outright childishness to bring your pastor here to be criticised. I doubt if some of you read your bibles very well. I wouldn't be in such a church for any reason 'cause it's obvious the man derives joy in bragging and the bible also said "By their fruits, ye shall know them". I guess you're already convinced he isn't doing it right, so why are you still worshipping in the church?.

I have not brought him here to ridicule him but to make other Christians to be very careful of the sermon they digest

Anyway, I faced hell while we were there and I'm glad I have left there for good

I can't judge any pastor by their actions so it's best I take my leave and remain quiet if I doubt their calling. Having in mind that even the bible said there say be fake prophets.

Let me say you don't like the church you're in. You won't tell me that if your pastor says you all should fast for 2 days, you'll rather ignore his instructions and fast when you think is right for you. That's disobedience by the way which doesn't show you obey God's words.

From your write up he's human. Comparing him with Jesus will do no good because you yourself is not acting like Jesus too. I think it was good you left the church so don't bother about others because when they know the truth they will leave. Everyone can't be like Jesus because he is just too perfect

It is called Psychological workup. I think it was introduced to Nigeria by Archbishop Benson Idahosa and his proteges use the same to force their followers to fall in line.
It is simple method but works largely on people who are enticed by association of money otherwise called prosperity to godliness. It is exactly the method that the Bishop who prophesied he will become richer than Paris club, IMF or World bank while counting on his sheeples to make that happen is using. Some persons actually like those few minutes they are worked up into believing they too can boast of money, traveling from one big city to another, owning estates and building massive structures, just by sowing seed to the Bishop and helping the Bishop boast more.

Sounding always like Satanic apologetics. This is what they teach in the Prophetic ministries a.k.a the talknados, pampering immoral life, begging lawlessness and condoning excuses for below par behaviors. Some go extra length to say if one person goes out of this ministry god will bring 10. Didn't Jesus say be ye Perfect as your Father is perfect but the Prosperity false teachers and sorcerers inspired by the Beast teach "you can't be like Jesus because he is just too perfect" thereby promoting lackadaisical approach in the issue of resisting evil.
I think you are the guy I told to desist from teaching and spreading the alternative gospel when you were formulating all sorts to defend Apostle Suleman.
