The Ak 47 (automatic Kalashnikov rifle 1947 model) is a gun invented for the purpose of warfare. In 1945 a young Russian soldier name Mikail Kalashnikov was motivated to design a weapon more suitable than rifles used by German soldiers during the second world war. It is unarguable that the ak47 has been used to kill more people than any other weapon in recent history. Apart from soldiers, the ak 47 has been seen in the hands of rebels, terrorists, drug dealers, maffias, and criminals. The ak 47 was preferable due to these qualities,
1. Very cheap to manufacture
2. It is very light and can be wielded by even children.
3. The weapon is also very easy to understand by first time wielders.
4. It is an all weather, all climate and all terrain weapon.
5. It does not get jam easily.
6. Ak's ammunitions are not difficult to get as they could be found in most places around the globe.
7. It is an hybrid of a rifle and a machine gun making it a
superior light fire arm.
8. Its destructive capability is very fetal (no doubt about that).
9. Very easy to maintain.
10. It is very reliable (it does not disappoint just like the M16.)
11. more effective than most light firearms.
12. Even when soaked in muddy water its functionality remains intact.
13. It could be dismantled and assembled within 80seconds.
The M16 is the standard rifle used by American soldiers and Marines, it is a rival for the ak 47 but during the Vietnam war the superiority of both weapons was put into test. It was reported of how US soldiers drop their M16 and pick up ak 47 seized from North Vietnamese soldiers, as their M16 is known to jam easily and thereby giving more credibility to the Ak47.

and yet it has been used to kill more people than any other weapon in recent times? and it is the standard rifle still used by the Russian Army and most armies in the world including our own Nigerian army, yes it is not 100% accurate when in full automatic, but its deadly reputation can never be discredited.

I don't prefare AK47 or any other AK series...they are over rated.
Give me the M4 Carbine any day any time.

before he died Mikhail Kalashnikov came out openly to show his regret, first he said it was the Germans who made me to design the weapon, and I did it to defend my country, he also went further to show remorse when he said "Whenever I look at TV and I see the
weapon I invented to defend my

Op, you are right to some extent. AK47 is mostly used due to its low cost of maintenance and cost of acquisition. It can be wielded by anyone. No need of formal training before someone can use AK47.

But that doesn't mean it is better than M16.

the M16 no doubt is a formidable weapon, but we have seen Americans who prefere the Kalashnikov rifle over their very own M16, didn't you watched the movie"44 minutes" which was based on an actual event? the ak capability was heavily demonstrated there. if the M16 is better why is it not acquired by fighters all over the world? the only advantage the M16 has over the ak is its accuracy when on fully Automatic, but it is still no match for the ak 47.

my dear civilians who belonged to the empire of criminality will do almost anything to be in possession of this weapon, Evans paid 3.5million just to acquire a few of this deadly weapon, Godogodo who happened to be the most vicious armmed robber in Nigeria, killed more than 20police officers on duty just to collect their ak47. He once said "I was going for a bank robbery and I new there would be police officers there, so I went prepared, I went to that operation with an ak47 with over 900 rounds of ammunitions".
