It depends on the perspective you are looking at it from, if you believe you are helping yourself already, why look for heavens help?
Without heaven's help, you are nothing. So I say heaven help the helpless who goes around thinking they've been helping themself.

But the day Asa went to seek help from King of Syria, God was angry with him.

The best way to get God into any situation is to helplessly fall to his feet telling him u cannot help urself at that moment. U will see the speed of God's saving power.
If u can help urself then what's the need of God helping u. Never tell God to join his strength or wisdom with ur own in other to overcome. He doesn't need ur input, he can do it all by himself

OP it is a proverb and you are given it literal meaning. Can a child who doesn't raise her arms being carried? If you need a job you got to search and apply for one before you will be employed. you are twisting the Op's point of view. Look at this scenario, as an unemployed youth (which I am.) I can't just sit in my village and pray for job to come. When I can relocate to the city (which I have done lol) apply for job online, make one on one applications and so on. That's helping myself because I can. I don't need the heavens to do these things. But then sometimes we find how selves in situations where no human effort of ours can achieve result and the heavens becomes our only source of help. Personally. I believe whether I can help myself or not, I still need heavens help. Favour, Grace, direction insight, foresight...

If youre not willing to be saved a d accept Jesus he will not force you nor come down from heaven juat for you. The phrase "Heaven helps those who help themselves is not biblical neither is it found in the Bible"..
it was a pagan phrase subtly inserted inserted in Christiandom unfortunately we have allowed it stay so long and we have seen it as a positive christian catchphrase".

It is either God helps you or nothing else..but don't equate the creator (God) with His creature (heaven).

heaven (subconscious mind) helps those who help themselves (conscious mind).

if you have a desire (e.g a new phone) and someone gifts you a new phone, that is heaven, God "helping" manifest that phone in the reality of your life.

While I won't call it a sin, we should allow God direct us as to what type of movies to watch and listen. His spirit always direct us. Without being a Christian there are certain movies that promote nudity, drugs, extreme violence and homosexuality, those are not good for the human spirit, Christian or not. However I am really not a pastor but a not too distant convert.

Initially there were rules and regulations in Judiasm, it made the Christian practice cumbersome, we always threaded carefully, not wanting to flaunt the100s of rules written down, but in this dispensation, He said He is for us, this mean no one can successfully be against us, He said is with us, which means the fire of this life cannot successfully burn us, and He said He is in us, meaning that He will direct us on which way to go, He will teach us and direct on, on His ways and will not permit us to go against His will. The op is right,the saying 'heaven help those who help themselves' is gradually and ridiculously making heaven passive here.Heaven help the helpless,heaven is in control and therefore not ready to complete your work,instead, to start its own..........People are making it look like you ginger heaven,No!.....,heaven gingers you.
