It simply means Nigeria can project force to SA while South Africa will have just 4 frigate to protect 2500km coastline along 2 oceans (atlantic and Indian Ocean).

Project force with what?

You don't have any warships

Actually, we have a Konder-E recon satellite that sweeps 500km2 in ~1 min

Good one

Guess u love to entertain the guys, look for pics of ur fine 'stealth' frigates or submarines to post because if I start you'd be too ashamed to come here rattling about 4 Frigates and 3 submarines being able to stop a Naval invasion of SA. You think buying equipments is all it takes! We all know your lack of capacity in skill set to even muster credible deterrence. I think it was retired Admiral Adekeye who came to your country and offered your SANDF capacity building which was and is still obviously lacking but Abuja wasn't disposed. Madagascar will be an ally not to worry we don't bully small nations.

Do you honestly beleive the things you write?

Like I said u're welcome. We all know you love to draw blood. Thing is just maybe you do sink a ship or two, it is the reality of war but we will still land on your shores. But there won't be war not gonna happen but Proxy war you bet some of us been itching to pull a curtain on SA' grandstanding and I mean in real combat. Bangui was just a teaser using kid rebels.

Is this bait?

Are we being trolled?

Your subs are not stealthy in design. You'll find it extremely hard to detect a s non stealthy ship taking precautions.

We have two OPV already. If NN was going to be ambitious like Algeria, I'll say fit in those vessel with SONAR.
Submarine, they said one and a multipurpose frigate means we're getting a well armed ship. As long as you're looking for us, a quiet vessel on high alert will find you.

It's obvious you are highly likely to detect the surface vessel first .

About the Submarine, it doesn't make sense having a single sub so I'm sure there's plan for more. This money isn't from the navy budget but a special funding so NN should compliment whatever hardware she needs with her own share of the national cake.

D.E Subs are defensive... Very short legged

You won't be deploying them far from home

And don't be silly man, of course our subs are "stealthy" - ask NATO about it.

First the SADF is not the SANDF, far from it. Secondly Submarines are prey (very important you understand that) and yours are not Nuclear powered an even greater disadvantage. And what is half your fleet? Your entire active fleet is smaller than the Nigerian Navy. Methinks first you don't know this or you downplay it's efficacy in Total War: Nigeria invests in infrastructure that makes sense and gives it advantage. You don't have that capability. Only Nigeria has it in the entire Africa. We know the position of your ships and potentially your subs even before we sail. You don't stand a chance.

1. D.E subs are quieter than Nuclear. Coolant systems are louder than electric drives

2. You have zero warships

Just stop.

When you start operating sonar doesn't mean. We're not new at operating surface ships either. We go silent, you go active sonar or whatever, your location goes off looking for us. It all boils down to the captain and his crew.

Against a Kilo sub or something very quiet we have reasons to have little fear while going against a sub with a surface ship but against the heroin class nah. We've got nothing to fear.

Going quiet means you won't be. able to do much diffrentiating us from other vessels. ... Battery low will continue later

Implying your ASW is better than NATO's

Also, where does this "heroine class aren't stealthy" meme come from?

Question is not if you've got subs, the point is how many active subs at a given time. Anothwr point is, can you find the arming of your subs to effectively take on the ship's with the cash crunch going on in SA. Next one is can you afford to shoot at a Nigerian vessel without thinking twice about it.

Let's take this to the technical thread, not on the picture thread

2 subs at a surge, all 3 depending on how long we have

I don't see why not

He's feeling like they have a nuclear submarine. Their sub can only stay submerged for 400nmi which is just enough to come out of their EEZ and back. Our Chinese OPVs have radars that can see the sub charging dead batteries around 250km away.

Maybe he needs more education on why you called it prey to surface ships.

Sub can charge while snorkeling

You are exactly the symbol of SA overestimating itself and failing at every turn. Your patriotism blinds sense and reality and clearly youth exuberance is evident here.

Pls stop equating the SADF with the SANDF. Your Boer colonizer Army is better than what obtains today in SA and they still lost the war to Angola, those are the records and your shouting on Nairaland won't change it.

Which best military academy? You don't! Your present day SANDF is filled with ineptitude and is obvious. You don't even have NCOs to talk of a real Officer Corp which is why your military is poorly led. Your military leadership is based on Political patronage and not competence. This incompetence is clear in your military priorities. While you were busy buying shiny toys for grandstanding we were busy building infrastructure that would tear them to smithereens. That's what sound military strategy teaches you: to seize/have the initiative from/over your enemy. Go back to the basics first before utopian goals. Pls calm down. You are lucky Zimbabwe don't have territorial ambitions as they have better officer entry academy and Nigeria helped them do that and they have proven capable in combat.

SA has not won one modern combat engagement and you are here shouting from the roof tops. Your illogical combat tactics amuses me.

Your submarines are essentially mines in the Sea and we will hunt them down, that's what Navies do. There's a reason subs are built to be quiet as much as possible or better still nuclear powered to increase it's chances of survival and Nations go to great lengths to classify their positions. Still it is a prey for Surface Warships.

NNS Centenary and Unity have guidance systems and sensors to defend itself and offensive action. And Nigeria is not coming to your waters with two OPVs. It is coming with an integrated Armada larger than your entire military that would make you regret pointing the finger at us in the first place.

What will this armada be comprised of?

If there's a Nigerian Navy officer in the forum I simply wanna ask what kind of interest does the SSV serve in the navy considering the following:
- The NN currently has no defensive and offensive capacity/capabilities.
- The SSV only carries 3 helicopters and can hardly carry armour of any serious support to the 500 troops it carries.

I'm not trying to bash anyone, I'm trying to find logic behind the acquisition. Thanks
Am no Naval officer but I use common sense

- The NN has provided proof its getting these (am sure u don't think the SSV is off the shelf
-3Helos isnt support enough?Really?
Anyway..the NN must have had requirements and must have passed it on to d shipbuilders. The ship may not necessarily be d specs we see about like we did with out Type 056 derived OPVs
And yes it can carry armor..The Sagaies,& Scorpion tanks aren't there for photos

Now I'm not saying they can't.....but during a recession.....yeah I don't think so.

I'll wait for official confirmation from the NDF or from the suppliers website.

Of all things common with ball bearings you chose a bicycle grin Ok then

well u cant blame me for being a realist and for trying to be technically correct, grin

the dimensions of the ball bearing of a bicycle is similar/closest to the one used in the said device . while the ball bearings used in the shaft of a marine engine will be half as big as my or ur head , so will it be correct to use it to compare it with ball bearings the size of a pea ?.

generally

a engineer will think like a engineer

a scientist will think like a scientist

a businessman will think like a businessman

a doctor will think like a doctor

a mathematician will think like a mathematician

a writer will think like a writer

a poet will think like a poet

a dramatist will think like a dramatist

etc

etc

what we write or the way we think / speak is basically a reflection of what we are/do in real life .

so u cant blame me for my short comings and neither can i blame u for ur short comings grin grin grin

We just wanted you to know Nigeria can start procurement process from bottom to top instead of top to bottom.
