Perhaps you can try giving her smaller quantities, since she looses interest or make the food out of small bits of different things to introduce variety . Also try and introduce some finger foods to the mix to encourage engagement.

For example::

Have a bit of sliced steamed carrots, cut up bread/toast, some avocado and a boiled egg. You can mash quarter/half avocado and half egg, and slice up the remaining egg.
After a few spoons of avocado puree, if she appears to be loosing interest put the carrot, egg or toast in her hand for her to feed her self and keep alternating it like that. and see if introduction of variety and engagement will work.

You know we naija people can like to have one big bowl of something as food. grin but unfortunately it doesnt always work for babies

for boiled eggs, do i feed both the yolk and white? 7 months

mamas in d house, I'm worried about my baby's weight. she weighed 3.2kg at birth, 9days 2.6kg, 6weeks 3.9kg, she doesn't suck for long unlike before. we r doing EBF. is her weight OK? if not what can I do? edakun sabi mamas

Mama, let me say this; Its not a MUST you do EBF, some babies dont really like sucking for long, talking from my neighbor experience. her baby stop sucking at 3 month and my neighbour didnt even try to do EBF thing. Immediately she introduced formula and it worked. Maybe you should try and introduce formula for your baby. That weight is quite small. Also, try and pump and see how many milk you produce.

For me, Similac was introduced to my baby at second day despite the fact that i wanted EBF too but i think that was the best decision my doctor did for me. I can tell you confidently that i gave my baby more breastmilk than formula.

To cut my epistle shot, TRY and introduce formula to your baby if you dont mind.

PS: My baby still carry 360ml of breastmilk to creche everyday. May the lord help you in whatever decision you make

I think it's quite poor at 3.9kg for that age for someone that weighed 3.2 at birth, is your breast milk coming out well? You can gauge it by expressing it in a bottle so as to know the quantity your baby is taking.
Kpele motherhood no easy

@ OmoLayo29, to add to this, if quantity is low, ur lo needs to feed more often and u need to improve on lactation for better results. Also consider supplementing with formula.

I read somewhere that the egg white should be given from one year cos of the delicate nature of babies digestive system. Egg yoke should be just fine for now

NO ma, I dont express at work.

My daily plan is this. When i get home like 5:30pm, i let her suck from anyone of the breast, either left or right but its only one side then put her down on playmat in front of me, plug my breastpump( I use lansinoh-for manual, Tommee Tippee-Electric) So most of the time i use Tommee Tippee) Pump 180ml for that evening then store in the fridge. Woke up 5am in the morning to repeat the same thing. That i have my 360ml. This is what i do for Monday- Friday

Mamas pls I need your help.
It started like a small rash with yellowish pus on my ds neck, slightly smaller than size of a heat rash, I used agnesia powder, next day, that rash wasn't there but smaller ones with yellowish pus appeared at several places on his neck. I used cacatin but its still seems to be spreading on his neck. Pls what can I use? Sudocreme isn't helping too.

Don't use Sudocrem on your baby's neck, it bleached my baby's bumbum cheesy. We had one annoying neck and back rash like that was behaving like a fungal infection, I used baby tribotan, try it, morning and night and keep applying for a while even after it seems to have cleared.

Well people are devided on this. Some say no yolks till one year old, some say all of the egg is fine, but the thing the two parties agree is that the egg should be hard boiled.

Personally, i gave only the whites when giving as finger foods. Yolk was and still is too messy and i find because it is quite dry, it doesnt really go down well. but mixed in the yolks wih the rest of the meals.

For example avocado mixed with egg yolk and chopped up whites was a bit of a hit.

Or you can mix the yolk with some purreed veg and tomato sauce for things like pasta or baby rice.

Left for me o I wouldn't worry much..it's not like her weight is dropping...As long as she is not sick or purging. my dd's weight at birth ws 3.1kg, at 6wks ws 3.6kg( I was sha blaming their weighing scale cos a maamas there was also complainingly) at 10wks its 4.9kg and we are ebfing as well.
My dd wasn't suckling for long b4 but know she can even empty one breast..I believe as their growing their appetite tends to increase. So just keep feeding her adequately. You can still continue on exclusive but make sure you eat well, a complete balanced diet, three square mill on point. Also try and time her feedings let say 2hours interval since she doesn't suck for long...Ever since my dd discovered suckling her thumb as a way of soothing her self she hardly cry for food what I do is, i time her feeding..I feed her every 3-4hrs.

Some babies are naturally chubby while some are not but that doesn't mean the less chubby ones aren't healthy..In fact some chubby ones are often obese.

Long post alert!!

I think I need to share this to help alot of mama

O dear, this post just brought me out...sorry about your baby

Talking of iron levels, my daughter had same issues at some point.

Now, if you are not actively breastfeeding, you need to give a formula that has high/good iron content.

I noticed most of our "local" formulas don't have enough iron, at a point, I almost regretted why I didn't give similac like I did for my son but I waved it off.

To solve the issue, my doctor asked that I included iron containing foods to her meals. I was advised to increase intake of soybean, liver, egg yolk, crayfish. I was also told to add a spoon of palm oil to her meals. So, I ensured that I also added palm oil to her pap.

3 months after now, she's perfectly ok and no such issues again. Also, look for Reload Multivite. It did a good job for us.

Now, she eats everything so her meals are lot varied.

Pele dear, I understand how you feel! I felt like I've failed with all my efforts in place..lol. She will be fine
